24 Raptor R = 720 HP

I really love the TRX, first had a 22' and now a 23'...However, I would still be driving Raptors if Ford didn't F' up and discontinue the Raptor SuperCab.
Man, a SuperCab Raptor R would be a hoot!! A foot shorter wheelbase and a few hundred pounds lighter...
I was in the same boat. Had two Raptors (Gen 1 and Gen2) and both were scab models which worked great for how I use my truck. Never liked my Gen2 though because of the V6 so was very happy when Ram came out with the TRX. Love this truck. If a SuperCab Raptor R came out I would probably be swayed to get one. But I don't think that is going to happen.

According to Ford's press release they "reduced air inlet losses and optimized calibration" as explanation for the boosted 700-720Hp...

Hmm

‘24 will most likely be the last year for the Raptor R, IMO, as they’ve now claimed most powerful half ton ICE with no remaining competition.
I read that Ford will be making the engine (5.2 supercharged) through April 2028. I would be surprised if they dropped using it in the Raptor R before the Mustang. I bet it will be available in both through 2028.

What the hell happened to the testosterone driven performance team at SRT???
I wonder if they now have tampons in the mens room...

Umm you should be ashamed of yourself, it's not called a men's room anymore, it's a they/them/us/I identify as a carrot safe room to urinate without judgement space. :D

How did a base hellcat go from 707-717 over the years? Just a question I have no idea what they claimed
A lot of people say the older ones were the faster ones. Supposedly the newer ones get heat soaked very quickly and the computer cuts power.

I understand the Raptor R is cool and it’s a nice truck, but the Ram TRX is cooler. The reason being is because ford copied the Ram TRX Just to compare to it, We all can go through a little bit of a bump here and there to increase horse Power but we know what kind of power you can get out of the Ram TRX, That’s why when ford release the Raptor R. They didn’t make it have more power than the Ram TRX because then Ram would have answer with a more powerful output in horsepower and then the Raptor R would have lost in the long run, Because they Can’t get the power out of their engine. Unlike the Ram TRX hellcat can produce way more power, Ford played it smart very well, it goes back to the politicians and the environment control BS. Basically, we got pushed out of the game by the government/ EPA, Anybody that buys a Raptor R is paying way over the price for a bad ass truck to try to compere to the Ram TRX I mean we can go and put a 3.0 blower on the Ram TRX like the Raptor R has on their engine and Walla beat the s*** out of the Raptor R, We don't even have to go that far. We can just change out the Pulleys on the crank and the super charger, tune the injectors and beat the s*** out of it. You want to know some of the copycat parts? Rear suspension and electronic suspension.

But Hey, you got to catch up. No shame in that! But it leads to poor design. Because their platform was built differently and based off of using Leaf Springs, Take a look at the rear end where the Coil Springs are look how it mounts from the frame to the axle It’s an after thought design There isn’t very much difference between the Raptor and the Raptor R, Basically, you’re getting a raptor with just a V8 in it, What makes the difference between the Raptor and the Raptor R is that the Raptor R has stiffer coil Springs in the front Suspension to help with the weight of the engine. And they Beefed up the torque converter on it, That’s basically it.

A few things come to mind:

- Ford really pushed the truck envelope with the Gen I Raptor. The Gen II regardless of how you feel about the EcoPoop was a better performing truck. The Gen III Raptor is an improvement on that. Ford flat out said they designed the Gen III with a V8 in mind. They just released it in year two of the Gen III.

-Ram more than likely never produces a TRX without the Raptor. Their off road truck has always been the Power Wagon. Different trucks for sure.

—In real world off road fast speed situations the Raptor and Raptor R could be the better vehicle. Since I never rip through the desert at high speeds, I’ve never concerned myself with that. My off roading is mostly old Forrest service roads and low speeds. For that, my Power Wagon was probably the better choice. I bought the TRX back in 2021 because it was a 700hp truck at what I felt was a reasonable (yet still top of my budget) price. I have a hard time imagining what I buy next. I just hope this truck is good for a lot of miles as I plan on having it around for a long time.

I can go on and on about how the Ram TRX is Such a bad a** truck when it compares to Raptor R, like for instance the engine. For you all that don’t know the Raptor R engine is basically a Coyote engine that’s been revised and now it’s named the Predator. The Raptor engine block is made out of cast aluminum, and Comparing it to the Ram TRX, the Ram TRX has an Iron block, They both have their differences. But a iron block is more robust and stronger built than aluminum one Because of the irons strength, it’s stronger and It’s able to handle more boost and abuse being put to it, With a iron block, you have less thermal expansion, If I ever go with the aluminum block, it would have to Be a forged billet aluminum block.

I agree. Its a RAM TRX or no RAM at all. I had a ‘23 Raptor but simply did not like it. No major issues with it other than only half of the speakers worked and the screen worked half of the time.
mine had 8 miles on it then drove from dealership 4miles later that truck was dead lol.very bad decision I made

And really it's slow after you drive a 2200hp viper. My buddy has the 170 and I have the viper. The demon is cool for a factory car.
But he was lucky and got it at MSRP because he is a friend of the owner of the dealership. The 170 is NOT worth what people are paying for them.
Snagged mine for MSRP too.
