HOT! 2027 RAM TRX is Back as the Fastest and Most Powerful Production Gas Pickup Truck in the World

Let me try to get you some details. My source is [redacted].
Ok…re: next week’s Ram event…

Folks who are invited have signed non-disclosure forms…IOW, nothing can be shared until the embargo is lifted.

I was able to get enough “hints” to conclude the unveiling will NOT be centered around the upcoming TRX-based Muscle Truck. Apparently, none of the Ram REVs displayed at recent auto shows were “production-ready”, so a production-ready REV is a “big deal”.

Meh, they're probably just going to announce that the "digital key" functionality they sold to people two years ago (and took their money for) is finally rolling out...

A production ready REV is a nothing burger and destined for the same scrap heap as the Lightning.

Hang on, now. They scrapped the fully electric one and went all-in with the version that has a V6 engine as an on-board charging generator. I think it will pull in the people who want plug-in capabilities but have range anxiety (this is supposed to provide several hundred miles of range).

Hey all, new to the forums here and really wanting to pickup a new TRX once they launch. What is everyone’s thoughts on the Bloodshot Night edition with regards to availability? Is it likely to be a limited production version or do you think it will just be an option package that can be added during the first year production run or something similar?

If anyone has followed Scout (now a VW sub-brand), they planned to introduce a fully electric pickup & SUV in 2027 (now pushed to 2028 due to factory construction delays). They opened “pre-orders” last year. Folks had a choice of full-EV or EV with gas range extender (called a Harvester).

Apparently, more than 95% of reservations included the gas range extender, so they will no longer offer the vehicle without it.

So, Ram’s decision on the REV is well-founded.

Now, if it gets more folks into vehicles propelled by electricity, it’s a big win. Why? Because everyone loves a torquey, smooth powertrain. It should lead to more pure EV sales, imho.

After living with my wife’s Tesla for almost 18 months, I see the huge appeal. But it takes driving & living with one to appreciate the virtues. Though I don’t recommend them if you can’t charge at 220/240V at home (AKA L2).

Please go back to the RHO forum.

Tesla appeal? This isn't a knock on all EV's because I would take a Lucid if I had a ton of extra money, but Tesla build quality is complete shit.

The Scout Terra (Truck) and Traveler (SUV) with the Harvester Package (gas powered range extender) have a lot of potential. I actually have a reservation for a Traveler with the Harvester Package as it might be a good option for my wife when she's ready for a new vehicle (she currently has a Chevy Colorado ZR2).

The Ram REV is a step in the right direction as well. What I'd like to see is a Ram Rebel 1500 REV with the GT Package. That could be a great truck, even if it drops the current range estimate from 690 miles to say 650 miles because of a slightly larger tire and a 18" wheel instead of a 20" or bigger wheel.

An EREV (Electric Range Extended Vehicle) is not a bad thing. Charge at home and save on gas, then be able to take longer road trips and off road adventures with the backing of a gas motor. I'm all for the technology if it makes sense for the buyer.

It literally doesn't though, battery tech is so far behind where it needs to be to make any of this worthwhile it unbelievable anyone other than brainwashed leftists buy these things. Storage density, weight and cell longevity (not to mention the environmental catastrophe both making and disposing them causes) are real issues that have not been solved and likely won't be in the near future and these vehicles survive by government regulation and subsidy alone. My prediction, the REV will go the way of the Wrangler 4xe fairly quickly.

Given Stellantis’ track record using Fiat based electronics in the current Grand Cherokee, Ram 1500, and Grand Wagoneer, the REV might very well go the way of the Jeep 4xe.

Wouldn’t surprise me at all.

Funny, but our Tesla has spent exactly 6 hours in Tesla service over 30K miles…that includes all maintenance and a single defect repair (front wheel bearing replacement).

Compare that to my Ram RHO (which shares the problematic electronics with the upcoming SRT TRX) & the Ram is the clear “shit”. Multiple dealer visits. Over 30 days in service. Multiple electrical faults & programming issues. That was before hitting 5K miles.

And, that’s not even getting into some of the build quality issues, like paint runs, under clear scuff & large dent in the rocker panel from someone being too aggressive installing the corrosion access plugs.

One guy on the RHO forum is missing the two tone paint on his bedsides. That got thru the factory QA & dealer PDI.

Yes, Tesla fit & finish is poor. But being realistic, so is Ram’s.

I definitely wasn't implying Ram or really anyone is doing a killer job right now. A lot of customers have Tesla's and a ton of high end cars and I always take them out for a spin and honestly pretty disappointed in a lot of cars recently.

The Porsche's have been pretty consistent, but not spending that kind of money on a DD that I would beat up.

The last 2 plaids I took out both had a highway shake to them and the owners told me it's normal for those cars I was shocked.

Not anti EV just think they have a long way to go.
