2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170: A Wicked Quick, 1,025-HP Hell Yeah!

Dodge can't do anything about it. And this is too limited, too hard to get, too valuable for any dealer not to ask a six figure ADM. 170 is not a mass produce car like the TRX or Corvette. This is the fastest ever and it has insane resale value
At the end of the day its still just a challenger that can be modded to this level for 1/2 that price. The ACR vipers were a much better car and more rare and they have definitely gone up in value but the vipers are rare all the way around so its not like there are tons of them to be had to modify. Not sure the 170 will ever go as high as people think.

Sure they could have if they wanted too. I have one of the 2000 Chrysler 300C's on order, you selected any dealer you wanted, and ordered through their concierge at zero mark up over MSRP. Simple and painless. Dodge didnt want to do this.
I agree. They should have set a reasonable markup on the 170 for the dealers to make and told them that if they went higher than that, they would be penalized.

maybe the timming is odd..Distrust in banks is huge and maybe ppl are trying to take the cash out and put it in something that at least is going to hold its value if not going up..I know I'm doing this

At MSRP or at least close to it, I would agree. The 170 is not a quarter million dollar car.

It is right now! No one can predict the future of course. I think some of the matching sets with the OG Demons are going to go for crazy loot at the barrets and mecums and what not.

I guess you're right because dumb asses are paying that. But will it go up enough to be worth the gamble? This situation also makes the car useless for what it should have been used for. It will be parked inside somewhere instead of at the track having fun.

If anyone finds a "smoking gun" on collusion amongst dealers (i.e., text message confirmation, written correspondence, etc.) would love to see it....

I'm not well versed in anti-trust and price fixing, but I'd do some research on it if I felt there was solid evidence (other than conjecture).

No doubt it is going on, but proving it can be difficult.

EDIT: Also, if you're willing to share, would love to see the documentation any of you signed with your deposit. (redact personal info).
I have emails and deposit slip from Tuesday morning saying I had the car. Then they claimed people bought the car before me and I asked them to prove people put deposits down before me and he wouldn't do so.

Got it.

The problem with these types of cases is, "what are the damages"?

If they gave you your money back difficult to prove direct damages.

Some interesting arguments could be made though. The resale value helps you (e.g., "if they would have sold to me at promised rate, I could have flipped and made $100K profit...."). Of course, need to see the emails and deposit slips. (if you are interested in talking to counsel perhaps don't publish those online yet).

I may reach out to you via DM. Stay tuned. Gotta talk to my biz partner who handles litigation.....

Loss of damages is now he has to pay 200k for a car that they agreed to 125k for (or whatever it was going to be) Damages are the difference. Plus now you get the emotional stress and other BS.

As of Saturday they did, but I haven’t talk to them since. Was thinking about calling back today but $60,000 over sticker is absolutely insane that I’m considering it.

Send me a DM if you want to explore further.

My firm actually dealt with revoked orders and security deposit returns w/r/t Bitcoin machines. Basically people put deposits down and/or orders, but Bitcoin exploded (making the machines much more valuable) and the manufacturers didn't comply with deposit orders and such. This is somewhat analogous. Basically dealer makes a promise, later learns he can get more, and so he reneges.

only thing consumers can really do is just not buy them.....downside there will be others who will buy them with the huge ADM!

So dealers can charge whatever they want on any of there vehicles. And really the final say all goes down to either the GM or Owner, which are the same most of the time. If an employee says on thing it really don’t matter. MSRP is exactly that just a suggestion not determined value. So we all knew these were gonna go crazy. I think that it will get even worse once they actually show up. Just Saying

I'm surely not one to predict anyone else's future performance or lack thereof!!
Unfortunately we are already seeing these situations of dealers changing their minds and raising ADM. I was promised a car at MSRP before they even released what the car was exactly. But once the greed kicked in from all of the hype. The 100K ADM kicked in as well.
Fuck Autonation and the way they treat people.

He wouldn't tell me either, saw he was from Pittsburgh so called a few around there and were all gone. If anyone knows of 50k or less over let me know. Just can't stomach 100k over for this car.

75k was the lowest I seen. 2 50k cars I was waiting on and the people met the deadline today of putting down all 50 stacks :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

I called my girl at Hemet Ram for another issue, and she was like "Let me guess.. you want your name on the Demon list?"

LOL nope!

She said If they get one, they already have a willing buyer at $220k

Eff that, At $220k... I'd buy a Redeye, and have enough cash to get to 1200+hp easily lol.

Bla, bla, bla......Another 6.2 spinoff. Where the h** is the 426 they got. What is it called? Hellaphant?? Should of shoehorned that motor in the Challenger as a proper send off to ICE muscle cars and a big middle finger to electric vehicles.
426 never received emission approval.
Dodge has been working on the 1025HP E85 6.2 since the 2019 Redeyes came out.
