2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170: A Wicked Quick, 1,025-HP Hell Yeah!

Dealers are colluding . After las vegas there's no dealer asking for less than 100k ADM
I'm digging into it... calling out some favors on this one...

Supply and demand, getting one at MSRP is like winning the lottery unless you know a good friend that works in the business. Glad the TRX wasn't like this or I probably would have skipped getting it.
Ha
have one
Still got fucked on it.
There are no friends in this business.

My dealer wants 60k ADM. 🤦🏻‍♂️
If they have an open allocation, would be a good investment. Never thought I'd say that with a 50k+ adm.

A dealer that I'm on the list for just called and said he has 25 on the list. He's calling everyone to get their offer over MSRP, and then deciding who gets it based on the highest offer.... HA! I said, I'm in for MSRP, but count me out on any offer.

thats just crazy! man oh man do I ever hate stealerships

If anyone finds a "smoking gun" on collusion amongst dealers (i.e., text message confirmation, written correspondence, etc.) would love to see it....

I'm not well versed in anti-trust and price fixing, but I'd do some research on it if I felt there was solid evidence (other than conjecture).

No doubt it is going on, but proving it can be difficult.

EDIT: Also, if you're willing to share, would love to see the documentation any of you signed with your deposit. (redact personal info).

As of Saturday they did, but I haven’t talk to them since. Was thinking about calling back today but $60,000 over sticker is absolutely insane that I’m considering it.

Thanks for this.

I'm not an ambulance chaser per se lol (my 12 attorney firm mostly does tech work, but we do litigate a lot of matters).

Few years ago we filed a class action against a video game developer . Got the idea from a game I played (I thought it had illegal gambling in the game). I met the plaintiff on a message board.

Not a big hit, we settled with the insurance company. But I will be a consumer advocate if I feel like there is something there. Just mentioned the ADM issue to my biz partner (and revocable deposits).....

Would be interesting to see if the law would consider "Dealer Owner Groups" of the same manufacturer to be deemed as "competitors" which is how the law defines price fixing.

Honestly it sucks, but this is the free market working... Stellantis undervalued what people would pay for something like this and the dealers (being the only other line of pricing between the mfg and the customer) are aligning demand and supply.

It harms the manufacturer more then it does the dealer which is why Ford tried to do something on the new GT, which appears to have worked way better then this mess :(

yesterday I spoke with my go to dealer if I need to flip a car. He told me they are desperate for a Raptor R , willing to pay 160k bu can't find anything bellow 220k. My point is lots of these orders are going to be flipped . Signing a paper saying you can't do it means nothing . There is a vicious circle where lots of ppl try to make a quick buck with few enthusiasts getting screwed in the process

I don't know what kind of vehicles that I will buy from now on. But the way dodge has let this happen, it won't be another dodge.
I also hope all these greedy dealerships eventually lose all their good customers. Autonation has set the ADM to 100K on all the Demon 170's sold. So if they say otherwise, they are lying just to get the car built. I bet most dealers that are saying that they are selling at MSRP, are doing it to get the car built and then they will change it after the car comes in. THIEVES..........

When ordering a DEMON, the customer has to sign an acknowledgement form stating whether they are paying at/below MSRP vs. above.
Dealer then has to check a box when placing the order. I'm praying they can pull this off to prioritize the sold orders @ MSRP first. Was curious until today to find out how they were going to ascertain who was who.

Dodge can't do anything about it. And this is too limited, too hard to get, too valuable for any dealer not to ask a six figure ADM. 170 is not a mass produce car like the TRX or Corvette. This is the fastest ever and it has insane resale value

Yes they do that but who's to say that after the car comes in they don't come back and say something different.

Sure they could have if they wanted too. I have one of the 2000 Chrysler 300C's on order, you selected any dealer you wanted, and ordered through their concierge at zero mark up over MSRP. Simple and painless. Dodge didnt want to do this.
