2022 Raptor Confirmed to get V8 from GT500

I looked it up back in August when the TRX was released, On the difference in weight on the two motors. I believe 6.2 was 100LB Heavier. I could be wrong! That was a crate motor.

Looks like clickbait to me. The raptor guys are not even talking about the article. Not saying it couldn't happen, but this would be a major restructure to the strategy to admit that the ecoboost was a mistake after all the effort of promotion and even putting it in their halo Ford GT. I would bet they would go the way of the hummer to try and compete.
Good thing is we have the redeye engine ready to go if they try anything!
They don’t have to admit anything. Just make a V8 Ecoboost ;)

Now where is the redeye trx Ram? For coming with the heat...

It's going to be interesting to see how Ford competes with the new Raptor. RAM has really set the bar high. These new truck wars are going to get fun. When is Chevy going to join the game? Haven't heard any rumors on the Chevy ZRX in a long time.

They're not ... the Hummer line will be the future for GM in this segment.

Maybe. The big problem with electric right now (as a current Tesla x owner) is that the super chargers are not towing friendly. In other words impossible to supercharge with a trailer hooked up of any kind. That kills anyone buying a vehicle that needs to tow more than from one side of town to the other. Regardless of how much it can tow. So that needs to be solved before electric hummer (or any electric truck) gets any real market share.
Personally I don’t even know how GM is still in business. I’m not a brand snob I love all cars but man Their stuff is dated before it even comes out. I was riding in a new denali pickup the other day and it was basically the same as the Denali pickup I had 10 years ago. The only exception is the new corvette but those are about as hard to get as a Trx lol 😂

I and I believe @Nitro were really only talking about the performance off roading segment for which towing isn't the focus, in fact it is a natural sacrifice for articulation and other off roading performance suspension gains.

Not a bad point but my raptor while towing capacity is less than regular f150 it still has the same range more or less. Raptor can’t tow as much as other f150 but you can still get 400 miles down the road and fill it up with gas. My Tesla x is totally bad ass but I hook my boat to it and it can only go about 75 miles on the battery.
That being said if I could buy a hummer with 1000hp tomorrow I probably would lol!

I have a Hummer EV on order... First GM vehicle I've purchased since 2004... The brand has been stale ever since then

They may be putting a V8 in it but that spy video clearly didn't have any supercharger or turbo, it was just a NA V8. My guess is (but I hope I'm wrong) if they offer the shelby engine it will be a limited quantity 1 year run and they will just add back a NA V8 option alongside an ecoboost V6 for people to choose. but if they plan on making a SC V8 raptor as long as there is a TRX available it would be great news for the consumer because competition is always a good thing for the free market

It seems the last few years competition has given manufacturers an excuse to one up each other in price more than performance

Ohh Boy. TRX might not even be the king of the hill by the time I get mine lol.
Good thing is if they do in fact unveil it early there may just be enough time to get a new model for for '22... ;)

Just my take, knowing FCA and what they have done in the past I believe they are going to come out with two trucks in 22 or 23, one a road beast at 900+hp and one off road a little more hp than the current version of the trx. Reason why I say this is because the electric trucks coming with 1000hp.

Like the grille and front end, like the wider marker lights, needs to be a supercharged V8 or an 800hp V6 that sounds like a GTR to get me on board.

sort of surprised its a 2021. They must be farther along in than I guessed or being optimistic. I figured with regular 150s just finally showing up they were still aways off on the new raptor. Maybe first batch is the ecoboost and then down the road the v8?

I think you are spot on. They will do a V6 Raptor as a base and then a Raptor R next year with the V8 in limited production is my guess. It be cool if they got 600HP+ out of the base Raptor since they get that from the GT ecoboost. I imagine they will be around 500HP on a powerboost V6. Just spit balling. Should be cool to see. the two trucks side by side.

Don’t think GM will bite. EV the way of the future for all their brands. ford might for a year or 2, with the GT500 motor already being developed and whatnot, but it’s going to be EV for them soon too. CDRJ EV game is weak AF right now, and they will ride the hmuscle game as long as possible

hate to say it, but we are witnessing the end of an era right now. Grab these V8s while you can.

especially painful considering I was born and raised Detroit and I have fossil fuel running through my veins.

I think you are correct on the ~500 HP v6. Otherwise hard to get a current raptor owner (like me!) to upgrade for just a few HP.
I'm personally excited for the super truck battle even if it’s short lived. Right now I think the ram is superior engine, engineering and interior to raptor obviously...new f150 interior still not up to rams. I will say though I actually prefer current raptor exterior styling to the Trx. So if the new raptor stays something close to it and they drop on a 700hp+ engine in it that may be tempting. Thankfully it will be likely a few years before I have to make that decision, and of course I don’t even have my Trx yet lol

I said it before and I'll say it again... its the death of true, raw, American muscle and the beginning of man bun, Starbucks, save the whales, paper straw, can't hear me coming down the road "muscle". Its sad to see since its my opinion it's not going to do jack shit for mother earth... but the man bun is the way of the future. Enjoy your V8 monsters while you can lady's and gentlemen the end is near. We will soon be as ancient as the dinosaurs under out air cleaner cover.
