USSFCU

Not sure we will see better rates on refinancing than what USSFCU has, not for a while anyway.

I applied for USSFCU membership and the rep responded back asking me to remove the freeze on my credit reports. I am not even at the point for applying for a loan yet, I am just trying to become a USSFCU member. I asked them why they would need to perform a credit check just to become a member and have not gotten a response yet. So assuming they need to do a credit check for membership, they will need to do another credit check for the auto loan?

Is this what everyone else had to do? Two credit checks?

Checks have very, very little to no effect on your overall score, if you're worried enough about 2 separate checks outside of the single check group window (the reporting agencies group all checks for the same class of loan within an approx. 2 week window as a single check for score purposes) there's probably other issues with your credit worthiness that you need to clear up.

lol... no worries/issues with my credit worthiness, if I did I wouldn't be buying a 100k+ truck.

My point is, 1 pull would be for membership, not a auto loan. Then a 2nd pull would be for a auto loan. So two separate pulls for different purposes. They didn't specify if it was a hard pull or soft. who knows, maybe it was just a soft pull.

I just thought it was odd. The last time I opened a checking or savings account or joined a different bank, they never run a credit check. Only when I applied for a loan did they run a check.

They do a credit check for the membership, I believe it's a soft hit. I didn't see a hit on my credit report.

I did not see a “hard” pull on my credit report. My only concern, was keeping my credit unlocked until they were able to review it. I guess I am a little paranoid bout ID theft.

Just applied through them today and uploaded all documents. See how long it takes. If i dont take new trx I might just refinance my current trx through them

They were super quick for me. Just finalized my loan yesterday. Just a tip, if you have questions, call them directly rather than use the online message/chat site. Wasted a lot of time doing that b/c it doesn't alert them right away whenever I sent a msg.
