Checks have very, very little to no effect on your overall score, if you're worried enough about 2 separate checks outside of the single check group window (the reporting agencies group all checks for the same class of loan within an approx. 2 week window as a single check for score purposes) there's probably other issues with your credit worthiness that you need to clear up.I applied for USSFCU membership and the rep responded back asking me to remove the freeze on my credit reports. I am not even at the point for applying for a loan yet, I am just trying to become a USSFCU member. I asked them why they would need to perform a credit check just to become a member and have not gotten a response yet. So assuming they need to do a credit check for membership, they will need to do another credit check for the auto loan?
Is this what everyone else had to do? Two credit checks?

lol... no worries/issues with my credit worthiness, if I did I wouldn't be buying a 100k+ truck.Checks have very, very little to no effect on your overall score, if you're worried enough about 2 separate checks outside of the single check group window (the reporting agencies group all checks for the same class of loan within an approx. 2 week window as a single check for score purposes) there's probably other issues with your credit worthiness that you need to clear up.
They do a credit check for the membership, I believe it's a soft hit. I didn't see a hit on my credit report.I applied for USSFCU membership and the rep responded back asking me to remove the freeze on my credit reports. I did not see a “hard” pull on my credit report. My only concern, was keeping my credit unlocked until they were able to review it.
