UAW walks out at SHAP - producer of RAM pickups

It's so much easier scrolling through all of that information on the EVIC because you can do it with the buttons on the steering wheel without taking your eyes off of the road. Ram sticks the same analog clusters in all of their truck too. Round dials are unnecessarily busy. I don't need 3/4's of my display taken up by two giant dials.

We went through a similar transition in aviation 25 years ago. The old school guys pissed and moaned about the change and tried to make the reliability argument. Funny thing is, you can't find anyone that is willing to go back to round dials anymore. You'll come around sooner or later and when you do you'll wonder what the hell you were thinking. 🤣
you had said something about the argument of reliability issues with all digital. That was also my first thought about the 23 cluster, but to be fair it wasn’t a worry about the panel itself, it was more about the ram software :ROFLMAO: . as much as uconnect 4 has gotten better I’m sure there are still issues and uconnect 5 is still buggy as hell.

Anybody know how much of a cut the UAW takes from workers for union dues?

If they're out til Christmas I wonder what will happen to all the hellcat motors that have been built and not installed? There could be thousands.

In thirty years when these beasts are a hot collectible people will be searching for analogs to swap with the digital.
Exactly. Much like that is hinted by the new mustang, the digital dash, you can change the gauge styles and one of the styles is the fox body classic look. There’s a reason for that.

Yeah, because most humans hate change, even if it's for the better.

Just look at the '23 TRX interior and compare it to a '23 higher trim RAM... very few differences. Even a Rebel GT interior is identical to our trucks' these days 😆 WTF
In 21 TRX was on a class of its own, mostly unique but slowly RAM "stole"its interior features and "upgraded" other RAM trims. Everything now looks the same.
The original TRX dash matches what it is, analog dash ,ICE muscle, dying breed.

Digital general dashes with no personality belong to EVs!

Back in 21, the Ram Limiteds and TRX interiors had a lot of similarities to. (I owned a 2020 Limited, I know.)

I love the digital cluster. There will be some "old school" folks who want the analog and to each their own. However, in my opinion, the digitals are more customizable and make the truck look a lot more modern. If Ram wanted to, they could include an "analog" style gauge cluster theme in one of their future updates.

Coming from the IT world, I could not agree more.

I love the digital dash it's clearly an upgrade.

But it will have no impact on future value, condition, options and originality will. but it's hard to say when and what that value will be. if the last 50 years of automotive history tells us anything these will be blue chip investments. but I don't think the next 50 years will resemble the last 50 in any way.

Hopefully they would keep them in storage to use as replacements in case Hellcat Vehicles need a replacement sometime in the future.

So between 5-6% off gross weekly pay fires to the union? Is that how I read that?

Jay
No, looks like it is 1.44% of your pay (if you're a full time worker and the fund isn't full). 2.5 hours of pay in a month for hourly workers. On a standard 173.33 hour month, that would be 1.44%. And if you're salaried it's 1.44% flat.

Got it, I glanced over the "40 hours" and assumed the table was weekly and not "40 hours in a month"...

Agree, do not think the digital dash will age well at all

Ram is the only manufacturer out of the big 3 whose trucks sales were down YTD from last year. Just to play devils advocate, I am sure this will help them move the inventory that they have as they get ready for the 25 MY switch since their trucks are not selling. Based on the article, they have more inventory than GM and Ford.

On the other hand, my 24 TRX hasn’t finished production yet. I am probably the last 23 MY converted order not to get finished, so this is going to be lovely. Oh well, I’ve already been waiting nearly 9 months… what’s a couple more
They are also now the oldest of the Big 3 trucks.
Chevy and Ford all have newer trucks with newer tech etc.

And since Stellantis bought them, their prices have soared. Not a good combination IMO.

In thirty years, our "Beasts" will die of thirst since all gas stations will be replaced with electric vehicle charging stations. Mine will be sold way before I have to confront this reality.
