When you order a TRX through here, Koons is nothing but transparent.

Koons is nothing but transparent.
That's not true. Not sure why the activism and but you are wrong. Koons is playing games. From the moment you place the order to the time you receive your temp plates. They include hidden fees in your quote ( ex VA business tax for out of state buyers), they try to twist your arm to finance by threatening to have you wait 3 days to pick up unless you are doing a credit application with them, and by playing dirty games with how and where they register the temp tags.
I just received my 2nd set of temp tags from from them. Guess what ...on the " Temporary Certificate of Registration" (long rectangular paper) that comes with the temp plates my address is good but "State in which vehicle will be licensed" says another state than my home state and has different plate numbers than the 1st set of temp tags. You could say "Big deal just a typo"...Funny thing is i messaged 2 more recent koons buyers and they have the same issue with "State in which vehicle will be licensed" being different than where they want to register the truck. Their title department wont address the issue (yes I sent several inquiries) and the sales department just doesn't know what's going on. Cant really figure out why koons is doing it tho... Someone said for tax breaks. I'm afraid they register the car in a state where they get some kind of financial or tax incentives and reregister the car in your home state. Hence the reason it takes so long to receive the permanent plates. I'll pull my carfax as soon as I get my permanent plates but i'm afraid the car will show was plated in 2 states (I really hope not).
I gave them 10 on the survey, because I promised Craig. But the issues with TTL clearly is less than a perfect dealer experience
Koons is not transparent at all and if there's a game or a way to play you they will do it

Again, even in my familiar Ford world, these fraudulent charlatans at Koons dealerships tried to fuck over tons of Shelby purchases that I personally know of! These guys are unscrupulous scumbags! They may initially offer a decent deal but when you get into the inner workings with them the ugliness oozes out like turd in a punch bowl!

I hope you’re

not sure if it’s going to make a difference but I went ahead and emailed them about your dissatisfaction and they already responded that they’re going to try and figure out who you are and a way to help. Hoping they make it right for you!

I’ve been nothing but thoroughly impressed with them so far.

Appreciate that 🙏🏻…..Since we’ve got so many opposing views on their performance/business behavior I’ll be calling them directly on Monday morning to cut to the bottom line and politely grill their asses on EVERY detail of exactly what the cost/delivery of a 23’ TRX will be. Any contact person I should ask for specifically? Phone number and name/title would be greatly appreciated!

Koons was 100% upfront about pricing for me, nothing changed from the original quote when I placed the order to the day I signed papers and picked it up. The title/registration process is a bit shady as mentioned with the wrong states being put on temp registrations. They are supposed to call me tomorrow to explain what happened and verify that they are actually registering my truck in the proper state.

Of course they know who I am. I spoke with them yesterday and they told me they have no idea what title is doing and they'll contact me on Monday. I wouldn't have said anything but the 2 forum members I messaged had the same title experience and there is a 3rd membere where his home state is correctly listed under " place to register the car". Mine was correct as well on the 1st set of tags but on the 2nd set it's not correct anymore. I want to reiterate, I was charged exactly what i was quoted in the initial email when i placed the order, just the price break down is different between initial quote and final purchased order. The way the charges are listed on the final invoice would allow me to still get a refund check from the dealer just for a lesser amount. My main peeve is how they handle the permanent registration and lack of any explanation from their so called title department. I just want my permanent plates done , the check for the difference and to move on.

When you have 3 out of 4 ppl with same issue you start suspecting incompetence or some bs going on.

Respectfully Sir, they can be ‘upfront about pricing’ all they want but if they’re doing anything underhanded that inconveniences me or my associates with registration, taxes if applicable, dragging on and on then the deal’s fucked before it started in my book! The deal should be completely seamless and without issue whether you’re paying cash, financing, living in ANY state, shipping the car, etc! EVERYTHING should be handled professionally, expeditiously with NO smoke and mirrors! There should be NO hiccups, deliberate or unintended, PERIOD! I’m not directing any vitriol towards you personally so please don’t take it that way but if these scoundrels at Koons are even half the sketchy, sleight of hand charlatans YOU even appear to admit they are then they can go fuck themselves and go eat a nasty ass fat baby’s uncircumcised, schmegma-encrusted anteater dick! It’s gonna take a veritable miracle to dig themselves outta the hole they’ve deliberately put themselves in over the years of taking advantage of people I personally know! My associates and myself don’t play this shit! Again, for the record, my contempt and disdain is directed at Koons, not you, new Mopar friend…..🙏🏻

Haha, talk about getting nicely worked up over what could easily be nothing. There’s been no smoke, mirrors, etc at all so far and I’d lean towards a lazy employee just selecting a state on a form that has no actual bearing on the title/registration process. It’s been two weeks for me, my state usually takes 2-3 months to send me plates after I mail in the paperwork so I’m not worried much yet.

Again, very respectfully, we’re talking about several different egregious business practices by Koons. There’s the ‘hidden’ pricing that’s either disclosed or undisclosed till the deal is nearly done, customer has waited months and car has arrived, albeit with totally inflated pricing. Then there’s the scam they proffer by initially registering your car in a tax free or low tax state to save THEM money but WASTING the buyer’s time and peace of mind immeasurably! Because of you otherwise extolling Koons’ virtues, I’m going to give them a fair chance at redemption. Like I said, having witnessed their atrocious business practice malfeasance firsthand, I’m going to lawyer up on my facts and call them Monday morning to see if they’ve hopefully corrected their shameful behavior and can offer THE best, seamless deal available right now on a 23’ TRX. Anything less than that is unacceptable and I’ll tell them where to go……

They has been no "hidden" pricing at any time. The price sheet I signed the day I placed the order was the EXACT same price sheet when I arrived at the dealership four months later. There's no evidence or proof that they register the truck in another state first - that was just a possible and unlikely explanation for the discrepancy in the temp tag listed state. You also have to understand that the Koons name covers a large number of dealerships which other than top level ownership are unrelated.

Don't hold back ... tell them what you really think ... no need to sugar coat it like that :)

I can understand being frustrated that Koons won’t let you take care of Tax, Title & Registration yourself. On vehicles financed through them I get it. Their business office is failing and makes the Koons look bad.

I don’t think there is any kind of tax incentive they get by doing everything in house. The fee they charge to do the paperwork is likely their only financial gain in the process.

Personally if everything works out in the end, I would rather be inconvenienced by a couple month Tag/Tax/Registration delay than pay $10K over MSRP.

The $150 fee that Koons charges is for a 3rd party vendor Beacon National Auto Tag & Title. $135 Tag “service” fee and $15 is a “waste” fee.

Again, this was spelled out to me during my order process in February. This along with the $899 doc fee and the $137 VA tax was all listed on my Buyers Order. I was fine with it because even with $1186 in taxes and fees, the discount was still better than anywhere else.

I guess for the cash buyers out there, maybe it would’ve been best to ask them acceptable forms of payment before you order than when the truck comes in. That way if you don’t like it you could order a truck elsewhere.

I love this forum. So glad I found it. After reading the above thread, it's so nice to confirm how badly my brother is getting screwed on the 2022 Ram TRX he is supposed to close the deal on TOMORROW. Sticker is $97,550. He is paying $5,000 over sticker for the TRX and trading in his 2016 Shelby pickup. He told me today he is good with the deal and he's happy with the color of the vehicle, Graphite Gray or something like that.

Right now, I am sorry I found the darn vehicle for him. He is paying too much for the vehicle and resale values are dropping like a rock. Truck will probably be worth $70,000 by next Spring.

Bad deal all the way around. I would cancel the deal but he does not want to. Mistake.

We live in Texas, by the way.

Actually $1186 in fees makes it $6 more than Granger... ;)

I dont Think order banks are opened for 23s yet and no offense but you’re referencing a completely different dealership and process. The one mentioned here and on several other purchase threads here on the TRX forum, the experience is with Koons of Tysons Corner Group buy. Ericka, Craig, and Brian will post in here often and aside from being employed by Koons, offer a completely different product than what you are talking about above. It sounds like you’ve had a pretty rough go of it in the past but I’d suggest putting away your pitchfork and put out the torches lol..reach out to Craig or Ericka and order a truck. I ordered mine in November, picked it up in April and you can read about that experience here on the forum. The only issue I had as have others is with the delay in getting plates but that’s more on their 3rd party than on the group buy folks and it’s not a money grab just an inconvenience.
