Congrats man. That truck looks great. Glad you find one.

Ur considering walking away after 1 week. I ordered in August and waited 5 months. There are others who ordered in August and still waiting. You might as well walk away. You'll never last months.
Im not sure why youre implying that its because Ive been waiting for a week as to the reason why im considering walking away. I could care less about the wait, and honestly, the longer I wait, the more money I will have to put towards the down payment.

My problem is that for the type of money id be spending, I dont like what im seeing/hearing from people on this forum. Add in the fact that I like the Redeye/Trackhawk just as much and those are two tried/proven cars, it was causing me to have second thoughts on this purchase. Being speed limited to 118 from the factory which will also cause me to have to modify it if I want to go faster which will void the warranty, and it adds to the contemplation.

For what its worth, I was notified today by my dealer that the truck has moved to D status and I was given a vin, so waiting doesnt seem like its going to be the issue here

All comes down to what you can personally tolerate as far as issues, build quality, customer service etc. if you have limited faith in the product you’re buying you’ll have to make that judgment call yourself. Personally the issues are concerning to me but aren’t an insurmountable reason for me to bail from my build. I feel bad for the guys who have been waiting around since August with limited communication regarding their builds mixed in with the build quality issues. I completely understand their frustrations. I’ve only been on the TRX ordering bandwagon since January so I don’t have their shared frustration at this point. This is also the first vehicle I’ve ever ordered and I intend to see it through. My dealer has also been knowledgeable, informative and good to deal with thus far. This forum has specifically made the process that much more rewarding too.

Unfortunately, a lot of us had a very long wait even after D status. You should know that. Also, you keep mentioning money. In my opinion, this is not a truck if cost is concern. I got 8 miles per gallon the other day "in town" and the 93 octane fuel comes at a premium price. Yes, we are all airing our grievances here but I think you'll be hard pressed to find someone willing to give their truck back. You aren't going to void your warranty by removing the governor if you ask around on how to do that (not on a public forum). ;) Just wait another couple of months and it will be available if it isn't already.

Your other two car choices are FANTASTIC. You'll have much less frustration going that route as they exist and these do not.

Best of luck in your choice.

Remember that sometimes trolls find their way onto forums and trash cars (or pickups) cause their mom said they can't leave the basement until they put pants on...
I've bought lots of CJDR vehicles in the last 20 years both from dealer inventory, and sold orders, and sure, there's a chance you can get one with issues, but that's pretty much true with any vehicle. I think the only car I've had issues with was a 300 SRT8 - but part of that was the dealer's fault for putting untrained techs on it. I don't take my Hellcats to a drive-through oil changer, instead having my now-dealer (last 9 CJDRs) have the Hellcat tech do even the oil changes.
I buy a fair amount of RVs too - and it's kind of a standing request from me for the dealer to spend an hour of a tech's labor crawling around underneath spraying expanding foam in any crack or crevice - although the mfr's do this, they always seem to leave one or two (or more!) not filled, perhaps because they figure you'll trade it in faster if a mouse gets in it? So based on what I've seen, I'm going to request my TRX dealer put the truck up on a rack and have the Hellcat tech look for anything amiss before I take it off the lot. Shouldn't be a big deal, and even if I pay for an hour of shop labor, the peace of mind will be worth it.
I'm not a (top) speed freak, so the 118 limit isn't going to bother me - I don't think I ever took any of my H-cats or SRTs over 120 anyway. I prefer just getting to 60 or 100 FAST. But each to their own - if top speed is more important to you, maybe get a tuner (and some different tires on it) and set it up to go faster. There's so many Hellcats out there now, to have something more unique just might be more fun!

This would be my 4th SRT and I currently have a 14 CTSV that is at 1100 rwp. I dont say that to brag or boast, my point is only that Im well aware of the price to buy and own. My point in regards to the price was that for 100k, I dont want to have quality control issues from the start. That is unacceptable. I was also stating for that same price (give or take) i can get a track hawk or a redeye charger, two cars ive previously owned and had ZERO issues with. Granted, this is all hypothetical because, #1 i havent received the truck yet to know if there are issues, and #2 obviously there are issues with any new car, but I currently dont feel great having placed the order.

Like I said in the original post, its a day to day thing with me going back and forth, and it will probably be a game time decision as to if i keep it or order something else. The good thing is that if i decide i dont like it, I can order something else through the dealer and not lose my deposit.

As far as the status of the truck. I dont care how long it takes Not having a car payment right now is not something im going to complain about lol. I was only stating that in a matter of two weeks I went from placing the order to getting a vin# and being placed in D status. I have no idea if that is fast or normal speed but i just wanted to let you guys know for your own comparisons.

Hope that clears some stuff up..

Cheers!

I hear you about the fuel. I’ve got 535 miles and just filled up again. So far, $200 on fuel. 🤣😂🤣 Hopefully when the newness wears off, I can keep my foot out of it. It’s awful hard tho when ur sitting at the light and you know that mf next to you thinks their car is bad ass. I don’t care if she is 80 in her Buick. 😂🤣😂

I agree on the confidence in the engine, transmission, transfer case, and axle (well, at least the full float out back).

And as annoying as it would be, I don't mind going over the suspension and easy to access parts underneath (drive shafts etc.). I would do that before a big off road run anyway.

What I am on the fence about are how the reliable pieces in the powertrain are connected to one another (i.e. done properly with all of the right bolts actually in place and to the proper spec) and electronics and pumps that are not easy to access (connections buried in the engine bay, fuel pump in the gas tank, etc.). The most reliable engine and transmission won't do much for you if a fuel pump takes a dump or a harness comes lose or undone because it wasn't put together or secured the way it was designed to be.
I talked to my service manager yesterday. Armed with the list of issues, I asked him to check everything when it comes in for service in a week or two. He had no problem with it. I showed him the pics and he understood.

You know what they say about French Restaurants the don't put the price on the menu...if you have to ask you probably can't afford it. The way things are going the internal combustion engine is on it's way out, so we might was well enjoy it while we can! Luckily I don't commute and it's not going to be my daily driver, so I won't wince when I jump on it (or fill it up). My brother asked if I invested in oil since I am buying a vehicle rated at 10/14 MPG - he's a killjoy and if he's worried about that he should stick with a Prius. I ain't getting any younger and want to enjoy this beast while I can!

Settle down there scooter. I wasn’t implying anything, but it really doesn’t make sense. The problems that some forum members are having started long before you put in your order. Why put in an order on a vehicle you know has had assembly related problems, then come on here and talk about how your contemplating walking away after only one week. They are growing pain problems with a new vehicle. So far, nothing catastrophic and really, for as many trucks that have left the plant, the number of problems isn’t astronomical. Some are serious if not caught, but most are being caught now that people are aware.

I had someone on a Ford post smart off about wait until gas prices hit $4/gal. I told him that people who pay $90k and up for this truck, don’t care about gas prices. I have options, and right now, I choose to drive it like I stole it and keep feedin it.

I walked away today got a 2021 Supra instead now it’s no trx but at least all the bolts are installed ..... hey man always another model year best of luck to what you decide
How’s the supra?

I have a DP mfr'd in your state that gets on a good day, 7 MPG - it never ceases to amaze me people who buy DPs that cost hundreds of thousands of dollars and then complain about the price of fuel or an air filter. Ditto with these trucks - it's a poor choice if fuel mileage is of concern to you. But if you want something to go to church hella fast on Sunday, then this is one option. Besides, it's a pickup and if you're going on a long journey, buy some jerry cans, throw them in the back, and fill them at a cheap station you come across on the way to wherever...

Coming on a forum to talk about whats on your mind in regards to the theme of the forum, in this case ram trx's, is the point of the forum
