Whats up everyone, been watching this forum for a couple of weeks and decided to join.

I just turned my 2018 Charger Hellcat lease back in and placed an order for a TRX last week through a dealer at msrp.

My problem is that I have been on the fence from the beginning as to if the TRX was the right choice. I absolutely loved my Charger Hellcat and now, with the REDEYE Hellcats out for a cheaper price then the TRX and with factory rebates of up to $6k, lately, ive been having a hard time trying to justify sticking with the TRX, especially after im seeing all the problems people have been having with them.

The reason I initially ordered the TRX is because I had previously had two chargers, occasionally needed to be able to tow, and because the TRX was the newest thing out. When I was able to order one at MSRP with the options I wanted, I thought it was meant to be.

With that said, having heard of the supply shortages that recently came up, I dont have any idea when I may get the TRX as I ordered it with a ton of the items which have no inventory currently. Factor in the TRX may or may not even fit in my garage (its going to be extremely close after doing the measuring), the TRX only goes 118 from the factory (requiring me to have to get a tune, etc), as well as the problems people are having, I just find myself asking myself, why dont i just order a redeye charger or a trackhawk and be done with it.

I can walk away from my TRX order even after it arrives at the dealer and not lose my deposit as I would just transfer the deposit to a Charger or Trackhawk order.

Obviously my mind goes back and forth on a day to day basis but I thought Id just introduce myself and vent a little bit about what was on my mind.

Look forward to talking with you guys more soon.

Just an FYI in case it matters to anyone here, I placed my order last week and this week was told by the dealer it is now in the "BX" status. dont know if thats about the regular time frame or not..

These purchases are always tough. My opinion, the TRX is like nothing you’ve had before and like other people won’t have. Stick with what is fun and new.

I walked away today got a 2021 Supra instead now it’s no trx but at least all the bolts are installed ..... hey man always another model year best of luck to what you decide

How are you liking the Supra? I have a buddy that has been looking at buying one. It's amazing how much power the new ones can make with simple bolt-ons mods.

Stick it out man. I’m concerned about the various issues as well, but I’m willing to stick it out. The TRX is still badass and I need a truck to replace my current truck.

I get it. FWIW - if I had it to do over again, without the last month of BS with my original dealer, I would have picked up a Trackhawk and a 2021 Mojave Gladiator a few months ago and called it a day.

Ordering and receiving a TRX looks like a case study in lousy customer service, and the quality control on early trucks has to be in the running for a top ten spot in the 2021 Automotive FUBAR awards.

It may be one of the best off road vehicles you can drive off the lot, but you have to be able to buy it without a $%^show of a process, and you have to be able to drive it offroad without the suspension falling off or fluids leaking out.

In for the answer :).

@christopherpaz - did they work out the tuning issues on the 2021 Supras? Beyond a certain build date people couldn't crack the tuning on them and that put me off (was going to pick one up for a track and weekend canyon toy, but I don't want a twin turbo car that I can't tune).

I walked and feel much less anxious. I applaud those willing to deal with the wait and the problems but I just can’t do it. Do what’s best for you

There is nothing like this truck out there. Yes, there are some issues but we don’t see or hear about all the ones without any issues. The local ones delivered to date don’t have any issues for instance.
I need a 4wd truck but sounds like you don’t so not sure of your drivers other than the cool factor. If you don’t need a truck then you have lots of other options.
I love my RAM 2500 Longhorn and I have no doubt I’ll love the TRX.

It’s nice features are nuts and honestly this was more impulse rather than planned but change of pace from my 20 rebel I kept it but the drive is nice sound is great from the factory idk where I plan to take this car but time will tell definitely passed my expectations

Honestly like I told nitro total impulse buy for me so I’m learning as I go but I was looking up parts and I’m blown away at what’s available with the 5th gen rams there’s a limited aftermarket but the Supra is like parts galore I mean everything on the car seems interchangeable and not to crazy on pricing I’m loving the car and yeah I heard the 2020 models were pretty much irrelevant with the 2021 release bc they changed some things so 2021 is the year to go with I heard 2022 is getting a manual but I really just wanted something not really seen around town a lot had to go with the Supra

One thing to keep in mind with these trucks, powertrain reliability isn’t a question. It’s the piss poor workmanship which will lead to issues.

we shouldn’t have to go to these extremes, but I feel comfortable having to go under my truck and inspect. It’s the stupid loose bolts issues that will really bite you in the ass and make you regret your purchase.

I suggest finding someone on here local to you who is mechanically inclined. Ask him to help you inspect, and offer up a few drinks as payment. It truly is a phenomenal truck to drive and worth the money.

Ur considering walking away after 1 week. I ordered in August and waited 5 months. There are others who ordered in August and still waiting. You might as well walk away. You'll never last months.

I agree on the confidence in the engine, transmission, transfer case, and axle (well, at least the full float out back).

And as annoying as it would be, I don't mind going over the suspension and easy to access parts underneath (drive shafts etc.). I would do that before a big off road run anyway.

What I am on the fence about are how the reliable pieces in the powertrain are connected to one another (i.e. done properly with all of the right bolts actually in place and to the proper spec) and electronics and pumps that are not easy to access (connections buried in the engine bay, fuel pump in the gas tank, etc.). The most reliable engine and transmission won't do much for you if a fuel pump takes a dump or a harness comes lose or undone because it wasn't put together or secured the way it was designed to be.

I think generally folks who can afford a $100K truck aren't really sweating the wait and such because they have other cars, trucks, toys, etc.

Would I like my truck now? Sure. But I'm actually enjoying researching what I'm gonna do to it, mods, learning about its capabilities, reading the manual etc. I have plenty of other toys to have fun with before it gets here. Though my GF is probably gonna kill me if I watch another TRX YouTube video.

Kinda like sex. Anticipation can give a mean dopamine high...

Sleeping on the Durango Hellcat?

I was so pissed off at the process of the shit show ordering system that I canceled my order from 9/3
Then bought one off the lot yesterday . fell so much better not being on the waiting list.
