RHO gears… for trx

I'm surprised that there aren't dedicated 2wd TRX conversion builds (seen in a niche of the Raptor community, even bespoke Dirt King/etc. pre-runner builds).

Certainly solve the re-gearing issues... LOL. Not a TASER/similar party trick that could wreak drivetrain problems after hours of wonderful smoky RWD burnouts and drifts.

...rather removing transfer case, related front end parts + diff/etc. <- Logical to some, 'Full Retard' level to others :ROFLMAO: 🦖

I miss the handling dynamics of RWD/past Raptors vs. AWD (including oversteer nuances under WFO, etc). Here in the SW - especially in the Desert and for dry road Daily Driver duties it's tempting. Often adequate with the right tire set-up, air pressure, rear diff. internals and of course Talent and atypical higher speed offroad terrain.

Thread potential too!

Okay, found the part number for the RHO rear axle and gears. I pulled these from one that was on the lot at the dealer that was doing repairs on my truck when I picked it up today.

Rear ring and pinion: 68658132AA
Rear full axle assembly: 68585347AB

Both appear to be available online. The rear gears are pretty cheap, only like $500. Combine that with the front assembly at $1,300 and it looks like you could maybe get away with a 3.92 conversion for a little over $2k.

It looks like the front diff is still hard to find though, so that might be a problem. I'm going to keep an eye open for a wrecked RHO, but if that takes too long I may order the ring&pinion and front pumpkin and give this a try.
It’s pretty dumb that the front diff is not available at this point. I really hope the reason behind that is they are putting them in the new TRX and need to stockpile them for production.

If they don't put it in the new TRX, then they're going to end up being rare. A single year of production will get used up quickly.

I'm hoping with CAFE standards getting neutered and the EPA being pulled back that RAM will say screw it and do the 3.92s in the TRX, but we shall see.

That said, with the TRX coming back I would expect some more aftermarket support to crop up.

Anybody ever try this yet? Wish we could get something like a 4.88/4.55 but 3.92 or whatever the RHO's are is better than nothing i suppose
