Radar Detectors

I priced one out on their website at $3300 with all the options.... Wow
IMO you don't need rear sensors as I have never seen a speed trap that waits to laser you after you pass them, if you just get the wifi enabled cpu the 2 regular and 1 tx sensor the blutooth the single antennae radar detector (who really needs to know the direction the radar is coming from anyway) and the gps it comes out to just under $2000 that will keep you well protected.

Still expensive but the saying goes you get what you pay for and my setup on my current 1500 is the same as what I just described (I upgraded to the tx sensor when I bought my current truck and moved it from my old truck in 2018) and knock on wood i have yet to get a speeding ticket and have been radared several times going well over 20 mph over the speed limit and was able to slow down and let them get a speed on me within the 3 seconds I have the system set up to automatically time out that was at or near the speed limit. I would say at least 6 times a year this has saved me from a ticket in the last 10 years I have been using it and if i didn't have it i would have either lost my license by now or been forced by the man to slow down always which is no fun for anyone not to mention it would have cost me waaaaay more than what I have invested in the system.

Be careful with companies that offer a "Ticket Free Guarantee" as a way to give you a warm fuzzy feeling when selling you just a radar detector and not a lidar (laser) jammer. Most of the time the fine print in the guarantee states something along the lines of

"only speeding tickets that are the lesser of 30% or 10 mph over the posted speed limit are covered"

and

"tickets in work/constructions zones school zones and residential neighborhoods are not covered"

Which poses 2 problems for you first most people have heard of the 9 you're fine 10 you're mine adage when dealing with traffic cops (excluding school and work zones that aren't covered anyway) where they won't bother pulling people over who are only moderatly speeding because it is more worth their time to wait it out a few minutes longer to get someone excessivly speeding and spend the same amount of time and effort writing a ticket but for 3 to 10 times the cost of the slower ticket. The radar detector companies know this and are willing to pay a few tickets from asshole cops who do write a $40 ticket for going 7 mph over in order to sell more $400 units to people who don't read the fine print on their guarantee and get stuck with a massive fine they thought they werent going to have to pay for going 25 mph over the speed limit

And second virtually all speed traps that are set up with stationary cops on the side of the road use lidar (laser) not radar, which is a focused beam that only hits the car they are pointing their gun at so if you get a warning from your detector that a cop just used a laser it is too late to slow down because he already measured your speed which brings me back to my first point if you are going more than 30% or 10 mph over the speed limit they aren't going to pay your ticket anyway.

Which is why I recomend dont waste your money on an expensive radar detector if you want one get the cheapest one you can find they are all virtually the same and it might save you from coming up quick from behind a cop car that is driving the same direction as you with his radar on but they are useless against stationary speed traps. Or save your money and invest in a laser jammer with a radar detector attachment that is hardwired into your car like the AL Priority system from alpriorityusa.com that i talked about in depth in the post above that gives you an adjustable amount of time from 1 to 10 seconds to slow down after you hear the laser alert before it lets the cop get a reading on your speed (it is capeable of jamming the signal forever but you don't want to do this as it will cause the cop to know you are using the equipment and pull you over and hassle you anyway)

Hope this helps
You seem to be very knowledgeable in this area. In the state of Texas radar detector’s are okay, radar detector detector’s are okay.....but laser jammers are NOT. So, if I am hearing you right it; alerts you to the laser, you slow down, then allows you to be lasered at a slower speed if LE reshoots your vehicle? When I supercharged my SRT8 Challenger I did do a remote system in that car it would make the car invisible. I will take a look.

Correct the way the cops laser gun works is they sight you in and hold a button on a large flat surface of your vehicle until it comes back with a reading, if it takes them more than a few seconds to get a reading they know something is up they are not idiots and know jammer technology exists and will likely pull you over anyway if you drive completely by them and they never get a reading on you.

So through the app you can customize how long the system jams for after it detects the initial laser, my recomendation would be set it to no more than 4 seconds (when you hear the alarms you are being radared your reaction times increase and time slows to a crawl so 4 seconds seems like an eternity in the moment) but what I do is have the automatic kill set to 3 or 4 seconds as a safe gaurd but i reach up and hit the manual kill switch as soon as I hear the warning and get slowed down which depending on my speed is usually only around a second or 2 tops

hope this helps and have fun but be safe with it if you end up getting one and installing it

I was watching this and it looks very impressive compared to everything else

I guess it depends on where you live. In the wide open West just get a good long distance detector, pay attention as you drive, and don’t fly around blind corners and hill tops.

I’m rocking laser shifters right now without issue. Radar jammers aren’t legal and supposedly detectable. Not sure if that’s true or not.

The Escort Laser Shifters do as you describe. You hit the brakes and double tap the mute button to allow yourself to be clocked.

As far as legality jammers have varying degrees of legality from completely legal to own and use to legal to own but not use to completely illegal to even own depending on the state the exact same as radar detectors so look up the laws in your state. That being said unlike radar detectors which a cop can see and clearly knows what they are most jammers (or at least the high end bumper installed ones) actually are sold as after market parking sensors that do actually work as parking sensors which are entirely legal in all 50 states. This obviously comes down to a legal loophole which is what all of our legal system is based on and as long as if pulled over and questioned as to what the sensors are you simply state "they are after market parking sensors" but this is another thing you have to decide for yourself whether it is worth the risk because cops aren't lawyers they can arrest you for anything they want right or wrong and it is up to judges and lawyers to decide the outcome

As Far as "detectable" the jammers only emit a signal when they receive one from being hit with a lidar gun, so it is not as if there is some type of detector that police have that can find a signal the jammer is emitting.

That being said cops are not dumb and if they are shooting you with a lidar gun constantly from a mile out until you blow past them and they never get a reading on their gun they know the technology exists and are going to be pretty positive that you are using it and likely will pull you over anyway to investigate. Which is why it is so important for the jammer you are using to have at minimum a manual but better an automatic kill feature that stops jamming after you are alerted to the lidar and are able to slow down so the cop can get a speed on you. A cop not being able to get a speed on you for 2 to 4 seconds is reasonable for the technology they are using.

Anecdotally I can tell you I have been using this technology for over a decade and have never been pulled over for speeding in a car I was driving that had it, nor have I been pulled over and questioned about the cop not getting a reading fast enough. But I have it set up to automatically kill the jammer after 3 seconds and I generally don't go more than 24 mph over (just under a felony in my state) so its not like I have to slow down from 120 to 65 in 3 seconds.

That makes sense.

My wife brought home a ticket once and her statement was.....

“I did everything you told me to do. It said LASER! LASER! so I double tapped the mute button and got down to the speed limit real fast.”

DOH! :confused::cry:

I have an older Valentine 1 that I have been happy with for years. I have been planning on getting their latest version for this truck.

Thought I would reboot this thread and see if anyone else has any thoughts.... Cheers.

I have been using the Radenso Pro M for the last couple of years and it's the best detector I've used to date including all V1 and escort products. Great size and easily configurable. Its only drawback is that it doesn't like Mazdas for some reason and they trigger it. Combined with Waze I, knock on wood, haven't come close to a ticket for a long time. Of anything that's currently on the market that's the one I'd recommend.

The only hesitation I would have in purchasing one is that a new even better version is about to get released.

can someone post a side view picture of the rear view mirror. I want to purchase the correct blend mount for my V1
