New Features, Tech and More! 2023 Ram 1500, HD Trucks Changes

I reached out to Chris at infotainment, he's saying about a year before they will start to offer the cluster upgrades, no price yet, I did tell them to put me at the top of the list , just in case I can't get top dollar out of my 22 trx
so he confirmed that its possible? if so, idc how much it costs im doing it!

He needs to get the parts and be able to program the OBD genie, and build a tutorial.. there is also a company called mps or something like that out west , not sure of the name, but they offer the same thing as infotainment, but you will need to download drivers to reprogram the ecm, little bit out of my comfort zone, infotainment is plug and play. Hope it helps

I like the digital display in my wife’s ‘22 Escalade, but unless carplay nav extends to it, meh.

im gonna wait for infotainment to do it then

No, same skid plate. You can see official ‘23 images here:

To bad.

I see Ram's representing the TRX with a black skid plate in this display as an admission that even they think the black skid plate looks better (on at least some colors).

Yeah, I like it in my wife's car too, but I'm with you. Its novelty wears off if it doesn't provide much more usable functionality. Being able to minimize the gauges and display the nav map in the display is a useful feature our analog+screen displays don't have. But I'd not use it much if it didn't display Waze or Apple/Google maps.

So I did some digging last night to see how the grand wagoneer dash looks, looks just like the trx dash shown in the pictures, minus the trx drop in the center. While looking on the internet, I found the dealer sells the grand wagoneer cluster for 680, and 860ish dollars. That good news for those that want to upgrade our instrument cluster. Once the part is released, it shouldn't be crazy expensive to switch Them out. I will reach out to Tyler Potter, and see if he can get part numbers, and a install video.

I wonder if Ram will end up updating Uconnect 5 to work with iOS 16 CarPlay that uses all the vehicle screens. Check out the YouTube video.

Seems really cool! Hopefully Android is doing the same.

I understand why people would want this, but I also live in area with 9+ million people who can't drive at all and already are glued to their phones.....this looks to make it that much worse...again IMO

Sure would be nice. I dont even bother with non carplay nav or audio these days. May as well use the real estate!

Compared to other digital clusters out there it looks cheap and unpolished.
Trying to do "the next thing" RAM keeps pushing the TRX away from its character. The UC5 is a great example of making things worse and IMO looks horrible. I much rather stick with the original gauge clusters. An original ICE muscle truck being itself and not a transitioning electric bore fest to please the geeks

i think the electric clusters are different and probably take some getting used to.

As far as muscle truck electric bore fest for geeks, i like the LED lights, cameras, live suspension, upgraded stereo's, 12 inch screen, heated and ventilated seats, air conditioning, electronic fuel injection, smart keys, push button start, garage door openers, digital rear view mirror, panoramic sunroof, bluetooth, apple car play, wireless chargers, usb port galore, power seats, power mirrors, folding mirrors, auto head lights and wipers, and aux switches. Probably forgot a few alos, but I guess that makes me a GEEK 😆

Yeah most of the features you lsted have been around for 10-30 years and have nothing to do with what I was referring to.

My point was RAM could have spent a little more and gone with something different for the TRX and if staring at an animated truck and gauges makes some exited, at least don't copy and paste from the vans moms will be taking kids to soccer practice in.

Other than the few images we’ve seen, no one knows exactly what the TRX-specific features will include in this digital cluster. I’m willing to bet it’ll have some unique characteristics.

I hope we don't get a TRX upon startup and a regular RAM displayed a few pages down after... on the current TRX dash leave your turn signal on for long and that is what we see so I'm not very hopeful RAM is going to do their homework

2023 RAM TRX Changes:

  • An available 12-inch frameless digital gauge cluster features nearly two dozen different menus. The full-color cluster features five reconfigurable tiles for at-a-glance data, or quick and easy access to the most used information. Drivers may choose between analog or digital instrumentation. All cluster settings can be saved to a user profile
  • New for 2023, Ram 1500 models equipped with the 12-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen now includes Emergency Vehicle Alert System (EVAS)
  • New for 2023, all Ram 1500 models now feature Rear-seat Reminder Alert and an LED hitch lamp located in the tailgate handle
  • New for 2023, Ram 1500 glove box features UV light that’s engaged through a button on the center console. Once engaged, the UV light will start a three-minute hygiene cycle that kills bacteria
where can I confirm if the digital gauge cluster will be standard or need to be upgraded for the 2023s

Any idea on whether or not the 1500 models will get the new tow mirrors seen on the 23 HD's?

Just took a look at spy photos: if they do it release, I’m curious if I made a mistake ordering them. (Not positive I love the look)
