Multimedia Video Box?

I would be careful with these mbb boxes from 🇨🇳. Buddy who is in tech says some have malware. I wouldn't use any of your legit accounts just burners. Most ppl use their Hotspot from there phone not sure if that would be an issue aswell
@Superbrowndude not saying it had anything to do with it but.....

the current models are junk. super slow and android 7 or 9 stinks.

I currently have a new style with android 11. but its brand new and has bugs for days.

working with the manufacture to resolve but they may have sent me software that has bricked the unit.

the new unit however has the same slow processor. same amount of memory and ram. but uses android 11 and has an HDMI output on it.

the google play store see the device and doesn't show certain software for it so you need to download the apk and load it to the device. but the older android 7 and 9 have issues loading things like hulu. and over all are very slow.

I'm testing another brand name Carlinkit AI box from its official website. I used the one you have and it would barely connect and then it would freeze up randomly. Updated the firmware and it actually got worse.

I know this thread is old, but was hoping someone had some insight.
I just got my TRX last week, ordered a newer version of the MMB that runs Android 11.
The box boots quick, and is super responsive and looks good in my friend's Ford Expedition with a horizontal screen.
When I plug it into my 22 TRX, it boots up fine, but I can only see half the screen. When I take it to the Ford and boot it up, I can see no options at all to force it into a vertical/portrait format. Has anyone else ran into this issue with the 2022s? Not sure if it is a difference in the radio hardware or the version of software running but it's pretty frustrating cause I feel like I am super close.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

It's a glitch in the Uconnect that won't allow android devices use the full screen. I believe only Apple devices has the ability to do full screen

I have the same. The aspect ratio of device won’t allow it to be full screen. The device and I’m sure vehicle will need some bugs worked out.

Works fine on a durango and Jeep wl. Both with Uconnect 5

So I've used mine in my truck regularly, you only get to use half the screen. However in my Durango you get the whole screen. I think it's how it's designed.

When you say you only get to use half the screen, are you referring to only being able to use the "top half" of the screen? If that were the case that would be fine with me. It is completely unusable as is.
This is definitely an aspect ratio thing. It appears to be using the pretty much the entire screen's height.
You can in the attached examples what I am talking about.

I have been doing some research and have an idea...I've found an android app that allows you to precisely set the screen size pixel by pixel. I just need to attach the MMB to a PC, load the app and do some testing. If I am able to get this working I will share the results and instructions here since it sounds like others are having the same issue and may benefit.

Here is a link to the bootup animation for reference .

The majority of people probably get the device to stream Netflix and other services on the Uconnect screen...That will be nice on a trip but I primarily want the ability to copy over music videos and movies on to the device and play them locally using the screen.

You should be able to hook it up to the computer and copy any media you would like on it.

I reached out as I just got mine yesterday and they said there is an update coming tomorrow to fix the display issue on Uconnect 5.

Which one specifically did you pick up and call about? Full screen is the one thing holding me back. Do you know if it can be a hotspot (2.4ghz) and still connect to the in car hotspot (5 ghz)? What about Bluetooth?

I have the newest one. It will be full screen still they said. Idk about the hotspot or Bluetooth.

There is a Bluetooth section on the settings but I have yet to try it, not sure what I would use it for in the truck.

Os - can you share here if/when you get more info on the update that was supposed to come today? I checked the site from the seller I bought from on Amazon and the last update available to download was from 3/5. I applied it but no change.

I'm looking for it to have bluetooth so that the escort live can connect to my Redline and give me cloud alerts. I'd like for it to have an hotspot(similar to ios or android phones) so that my blackvue can connect through it into the in car wifi. Unfortunately MY22 in car hotspot is 5 GHz only whereas I believe the MY21 is 2.4 GHz. Most low power wifi based accessories (Radar Detector, Dashcam, etc) are 2.4 GHz.

Connected with them again today, they said the update is not finished in time as they hoped. Will be a few more days.
