Viton is generally weaker than HNBR (what the green O-Rings are) or Nitrile, meaning it will wear out and/or extrude faster. Both Nitrile and HNBR of pretty much any blend or durometer on the market will work great for these seals and pressures.Yep, i got smoked on it then haha. I always pull the trigger too fast & then do my research afterwards.
Turns out the ideal o-rings for our TBV are likely a different material & durometer then the Oreilly & harbor specials anyway. Assuming @ONEMEANTRX is on point with his size rec, these should be ideal so I've got em on the way: https://amzn.to/3IFaDaU

just ordered to be safe ... and can measure it again with the old ones
the greens one is what I had on hands need the truck that next morning lol no I didn't have caliper to measure the o rings ..

You aren’t working on the space shuttle. If the o-rings you pick fit relatively well, aren’t made of complete garbage and don’t get destroyed during install, you will never have an issue at the temperatures and pressures seen in this application.

I've gotta get a pass on overthinking this one lol. I've had every fluid other than fuel & rear axle fluid leak out of my truck in the past 6 months. I mean EVERYTHING from freon to tranny fluid, coolant (from HX and Rad), windshield washer fluid and everything in between so I'm HYPER sensitive to leaks & preventing them at the moment

Ill add to the list when i do my tranny flush (from male to female) i just picked up 2 boxes of fluid from dealer.
Im going to do this service along with a new filter switching to the amsoil blue top, drain and fill 2-3 times should do the trick preventative maintenance I got 20xxxx but by the time I get around to it lol will be 25xxxx to 30xxxx

I started looking to "Over Engineer" (my weakness) found out they also have PTFE o rings at 2x the costs probably overkill. (-100F to 400F)

I would stay far, far away from PTFE O-Rings lol. While they have an incredible temperature range and near complete immunity to all chemicals and exposures, PTFE seals are VERY hard to get to work. They require near mirror finishes on the parts and almost perfect geometry to get them to work. @FULLTHROTTLERICK when is the step by step coming? I have been tied up ....but Know that you will make a quality video.Just got mine in today but wont be able to install until i bring my truck in for the 18 things it still needs (including tranny replacement)
truck's going on it's 3rd week at the dealer now. Getting super pissed and antsy. I drive by it every day and most days it's sitting in the parking lot collecting bird shit. I SHOULD know in the next day or 2 whether they're replacing the tranny...
