How do you get your money?

My company pays me to travel to high impact customer meetings during contract negotiations so I can read the room and body languages of the clients. Provide feedback on where we stand based on what I see during the meetings before we re-negotiate or stand firm on final offers. Not sure how This “skill” came to me but they hired me after the other company I worked for got the best of my current company on a deal they were trying to negotiate down then ended up paying 30% more for and also assuming legal culpability for anything before the buyout. Stressful situations when you suggest we can get more out of a deal but still sitting at 100% thus far.

Just the unfortunate part is I’ll get a call at 5 PM that I’ll need to be somewhere the next morning, so planning things is tough with the family. Then you have to find a flight and pretty much grab a hotel reservation using the airplane WiFi. They promised me an assistant to set all this up for me soon so all I have to do is go, but yeah, literally can’t plan anything at all since I never know when I’ll get calls to head out. And if I take vacation I’m still required to be available at all times during those events. Sounds cool to some, but it really sucks when you’re stuck in a resort hotel room on your honeymoon because of a pop up virtual call and can’t book excursions outside of the resort since you never know what will pop up.
