Drop In Air Filters

With the code AFE55433, it drops the price from $709 to $638... Tempting. I wonder if it has the drain in the bottom like the stock box?
. . .it does have the drain, just did a quick read of the installation instructions - it mentions to transfer the rubber drain plug to theirs.

Anyone have performance of just drop in 5r filters or sound clip of the whine? 👀

Thanks

I have drop in filters (dry versions), no real noticeable difference in performance and very little increase in whine. No vids though, sorry. My opinion.. save your money until you actually need to replace the OEM filters.

So now that people have run the drop in filters a while what do you think ? I'm looking for more blower whine ( Cow bell ) , and if it breaths better all the better. extreme filtration isn't an issue.

Bro, just get the S&B intake, it's worth it.

New to the TRX presently, however for what it is worth, years ago on my SRT-10 Truck I compared paper filter vs drop-in K&N filter, at Rowe Racing in Florida, and the dyno show 5 Hp gain. Then we did the K&N CAI and gained 6 Hp over stock paper filter, and 1 Hp over drop in K&N. So there was some gain, but marginal. Yes, every vehicle will be different, every system will be different, but this gives a little relative perspective on performance filters.

gonna take a look at my factory filter for the first time today, don’t drive in extreme dusty conditions, I’m guessing it should be fairly clean with only 4500 miles… if I wanted a “better” filter than factory what would you all suggest? I had K&N decades ago and liked the reusable aspect of them but have no idea on the dry versus oiled benefits. I just dont understand the differences between the 3 different models that AFE sells, or why they are 3 times the price of factory. do they fit properly? some people say they dont fit like the factory filter?
