Waiting on 2027 Ram TRX
I put a deposit down on a new 2027 TRX back in August 2026 and signed a California Retail Installment Agreement. I negotiated and OTD price of 115,185!!!! Considering im in California, this is a great deal! Well after months of waiting the dealership called Friday and said the truck had arrived, but had "a faulty fuel pump"! I looked up the part and found they were on back order, but the dealership assured me they found one in Texas that would arrive today (Monday 10/12/27. Welp, they called today and said the part didn't come in, remains on back order and the truck now seems to have other "electrical issues". Keep in mind I never took delivery of the vehicle. So I asked the Sales manager what he recommends. He said if he were me he would "Cancel the deal and get my deposit back." That instantly raised red flags for me. When I asked why they couldn't just move my deal over to another allocated truck. He said the GM that helped finalize my deal was no longer working there, and the new GM probably wouldn't want to do the deal on a different TRX.....but he would "Ask him and call me back".....I have not heard back from him since lol I am considering retaining an attorney and pressing the matter further. I honestly feel the new GM simply doesn't want to honor the agreement due to the insanely low price I got the truck for. Any thoughts? Any insight or advice is welcome.

An attorney? Really? You can’t be serious. You’re going to burn money just to lose.

The contract likely says they can terminate at any time for any reason.

Find an out of state dealer. Pay MSRP. Be happy. That’s what I did. Took me an hour of calling on Friday and I pick my truck up tomorrow.

Have you gone to look at the truck? Does it actually have these issue or are they pulling your leg?

Agree with above… getting an attorney would be throwing money down the drain.

When you take away commifornia taxes, what are you actually buying the truck for? Is it msrp or what?

Yes an attorney. My neighbor had a similar situation with his wife's BMW. He ended up getting a check for what he paid over the previous deal with the original dealership. My corporate attorney said there is no "unlimited sellers cancelation language" in the contract. The only cancellation they reserved was in the invite the account was not financeable. That is NOT the case. And that stipulation expired on Sept 10th. My corporate attorney is the one that recommended that I have a case after looking over the agreement, its just not his area of law.

I negotiated for 4k under MSRP.

That's pretty much what happened to a guy nearby that had ordered a '21. His California dealer gave him a huge runaround.

Luckily for him my girlfriend took pity on him and helped him get his ordered TRX, but buying from a different dealer would likely simplify things.

I dont think he'll be able to register in CA a TRX purchased in a different state

Ride it out. You have a contract. Did you sign a purchase agreement? It’s very likely the truck may, in fact, have a faulty fuel pump. I would investigate that further however. In addition, never ask your salesman for advice. From this point forward, I would only deal directly with the general sales manager. If that proves unsuccessful go to the general manager.

Do the Cali TRXs have a third and fourth cat or something?
That’s the hilarious part. Colorado does “california emissions” as well.
So you wanna know the huge difference between a California emissions trx and a regular one… wait for it… a stamp on the cat that says “carb” whatever and costs more money.

But oh it’s for the environment and definitely not a way to suck out more money 😂

My philosophy on buying anything expensive is that it should be an enjoyable experience. There are too many places that want to make that happen to tolerate a bad experience. A truck that already has problems or the dealership is playing scumbag games is not an enjoyable experience. Getting a lawyer to fight it out is not enjoyable. How not enjoyable it would be to fight for the truck and find out it really is a lemon?

I’m so confused why this is even an issue and why a post was even made when you haven’t even gone to see the truck or verify anything. In addition, just wait until the truck is fixed and move on with life. An attorney? Seriously? I’m glad you seem to have such a great a life a $115k truck purchase is causing this extreme of a response and I mean that genuinely not condescending like it sounds. Sometimes we need to be grounded in real world issues, this isn’t one of them… wait for the truck to be fixed or get you money back and find another. Simple solution for a simple problem

IMHO, If I was going to fight with a dealer, I would always have a speck of doubt as to whether they sabotaged the truck somehow, just to even the score...

Same reason I don't send a steak back to the chef... Yep, I'm a bit paranoid:cool:

I do hope you find a 2027! They're fun!!!

If I understand it correctly, the dealer isn't backing out of the current deal - they just advised you to cancel and start over. If they're not transferring your "deal" to another truck, that's not legal territory. The only reason I could see getting an attorney involved would be if they're not honoring the order that you placed.
As far as the truck with the bad fuel pump, it appears to be a common issue (and I've seen a couple people mention that it was replaced pretty quickly). Electrical issues are also common, and will have to be sorted out. So why not wait it out and get the truck you ordered at the deal you wanted?

Buying from a different dealer doesn't necessarily mean from a different state. There are lots and lots of Ram dealers in CA to choose from.

But for $4K off I'd do my best to stick with the original deal, while fully understanding why the dealer would like to weasel out of it and make more money.

they probably just want to sell the truck to someone else for more money, just say Fck' em' and find one somewhere else. the guys i deal with are too honest to sell allocations they don't have, but they are great to deal with. all i do is ask and they always make it happen, i agree with the weather maker up above, buying a vehicle should be enjoyable, if my first interaction is already shitty, i am out. i know plenty of people i can buy cars from and they treat me like their best customer.

sorry is @Weather Man LOL sorry i called you weather maker

4k bellow MSRP was about invoice pricing. He wont find that anytime soon in CA. @ MSRP 100% but 3.7% bellow MSRP not immediately. He doesnt have any recourse but it sucks

Thank you @Claasicdrive. That's my point, that deal in California is almost impossible to find again. That's why spending 5k on an attorney vs paying 20-50k more for another truck seems worth it to me. Especially considering I have a valid contract in place with no cancelation clause for the seller.

i find it had to believe they are only making $4K on a $100K truck, dealerships must make 20-30% by just selling at MSRP. i have never worked at a dealership but people that do, they have told me they get their cars for 75-85% of the MSRP, so at MSRP they are making 15-25% on the truck
