Black TRX with Xpel Stealth

Other than the fact that we all can spend our money on whatever we choose and can afford, and the matt trucks look great, has anyone ever gotten even part of their money back on such upgrades when selling or trading in their vehicles?
my last big mercedes was factory matt white and my current RR is matt aluminum, so i’m a big matt fan - just not sure $5-7000 to matt and protect the paint on a truck is worth it.

Whether PPF is worth it or not is a valid question ... matte or clear is about the same price.

Truck looks amazing. Mine is black and just arrived a couple of weeks ago. I’ve been debating Xpel Stealth or a color change 3m (wish I could find the Anvil Gray color), but I think you just sold me on this.

I’m having this done on mine when it comes in and mine is white. Would love to see someone’s that is white done in the stealth. Just wish mine would hurry up and arrive!

The black looks amazing with the stealth wrap. Great looking trucks guys.

Cost is highly dependent on which part of the country you're at and how much of the wrap is off template pre-cuts and how much is custom cut. For example where I am in Charleston SC this kind of stuff tends to be relatively inexpensive, it can be up to double what I paid in other areas, not in just one shop but in all of them in that area.

In the end, because I wanted a few custom pieces, I paid around $5000 total including a coating of Ceramic Pro on top and ceramic tint the front two windows to match the rear.
Here in Mass the guy wants $2250 to do the hood, headlights and fenders. Since you can’t do mirrors or bumper due to not being painted and it’s textured. And with that cost he says he will not remove the hood cowls or anything because he said he read that the clips all break when removing them. So he will get as close as possible. Sooooo…… I guess you will see the edges of the film? Doesn’t seem like a good deal.

I'd say, if he is not capable or removing the clips without breaking them, you should prolly' find someone else!!

So does PPF ever start to peel off on the edges, etc...and end up looking like shit...and guy has to end up paying to get it removed and cleaned up?

Looks killer! Price was great too. Here on Long island, NY I took my TRX to get the front windows tinted and they offered protective film installation. The owner quoted me $2,200 to just wrap the lower plastic pieces below the headlights, first half part of the front fenders(piece on the outside of the headlights) and a small front portion of the hood. Basically just in places where wear from bugs and debris would happen during high speeds.

I thought it was high for the real benefit but wonder if here somehow prices were not too far from other areas

It has a 10 year warranty.

I paid $8,500 for full stealth wrap and full ceramic coating on my Granite Crystal TRX.

It looks amazing and gives me peace of mind when driving off road or on gravel. It's chameleon-like in that in low light it looks almost black and in sunlight looks lighter than the granite crystal.

That truck is bad ass. My wife saw a G wagon last night in matte and was like, “You should’ve done your truck matte black…”. Just a killer looking rig.

That's right when I would have told her, "Yeah, I should have also done the red head with green eyes too, but we don't always end up getting the best looking option!" :ROFLMAO:  :ROFLMAO:

. . . but I agree, that wrap is baad ass!!

Your trucks look great. I paid $5,800 on my Raptor, which included xpel fusion ceramic coating. I plan on doing the same once my TRX arrives.

Truck looks fantastic! I have a black one that just went to D1, and I’m planning on doing something similar. Two questions:
1) It looks like the non glossy areas (fenders, mirror caps, etc) weren’t wrapped. Is that correct? Did you just leave those areas stock?
2) How did you black out the skid plate? Powder coating?

Thanks in advance!

EPIC! Exactly what I am doing to mine. Black paint with Xpel Stealth and ceramic. LOOKS UNREAL!

For those that wrapped with a matte finish, how has it held up? Seems like OP should have about a years and others many months. Any issues with it so far? Does your truck live outside?

Hi,

I did post this in my build thread and I'm not intentionally cross posting for attention, but I thought that it might get buried in there without members, especially newer ones been able to search for it. And as I think I'm either the first one or thereabouts to do this, I thought I would do a separate thread so folks can see what it looks like and if it's something they want to consider.

I'll take pics in the sun if it ever comes back, but for now this will give you an indication of what to expect if you wrap a black TRX with Xpel Stealth.

I’m considering doing exactly the same thing on my truck which will be black as well. I’ve never done the whole PPF thing so is there a satin PPF and a clear PPF?

if a clear PPS is an option I’m curious as to why y choose Satin that’s more of a matte black look?

I would love to see a black truck with the clear and then ceramic coating on top of that.

last thing I’m sure I’m not the first guy, if you don’t mind how much does it cost And how long did it take?
