How good is Bak X4s in protecting against water?

From the above video it does not look like it seals very well.

Definitely have to adjust it well. Just like this video shows you typically see some water in the tailgate end. Haven't really checked on the TRX yet but on my rebel with MFT I would get a little water on the corners by tailgate. It was harder to deal with that tailgate though

How good is Bak X4s in protecting against water?

I have it on mine. Seals well except at the tailgate although I can’t tell if it is only cause my top rail caps were never there or popped out. I know i have seen at one of the local shops that a company sells the full bed rail caps with no holes so maybe after that it will stop getting wet by the tailgate. I am now having a problem with this cover though. It still doesn’t leak except where stated above but the very end that the tailgate hits each time i open and close it is starting to pull a bit creating a bump from the extra material. I will go get a picture and post. I will probably send a message to them and see how they handle it. Cover is a year and a half old now.

I’ve had a few of the different brands, the Retrax Pro is a good one. It also fits if you have The Ram Bar.

Thanks for the pics. Read quite a few complaints about X4s following appart so I'm having second thoughts. TruXedo Sentry CT looks like a similar option but not sure how secure the velcro on the side will be.

Yup. I hear ya. I contacted Bakflip direct and i’m gonna see how they handle it. I do like the product but we shall see. If not i will ride this one til its desth and get a power one that is similar. Pace edwards maybe. I gotta do more research.

Roll-n-lock power one is on top of my list but having never owned a truck, I keep debating whether the small convenience of having power open/close is enough to justify paying almost three times compared to regular roll top. Though I really like the electric version of Roll-n-lock as it has a built-in light as well.

Yes, all other seems to be around same prices as well (minus/plus some change). After spending too many hours watching all videos on these electronic covers, the reason why I like roll-n-lock is the because it has the smallest canister, built-in light and manual opening, that's one thing that I'm surprised that no one else offers. What happens if the battery dies?

The pace edwards i’m 100% has a manual release for the dead battery issue. The rest i’m not sure. I also am not a fan of that long grab cord they give you to open without it running away and slamming open as well as to pull it closed. It might be cause i found it getting ripped a lot and in the way when loading stuff. Might be cause it was on my work truck but maybe not.

The EGR, and the new Retrax interface with the vehicle key fob, which adds appeal to electric, but I’m not willing to cut big holes in the bed for the EGR, and I didn’t love the idea of the shorter warranty on the Retrax

(for the record, I ended up with a cheap tri-fold)

eh: I cheaped out even further: just a basic vinyl tri-fold. Sits on the bed rails. The only hardware is a couple strike latches.

I had one on my last truck: takes a minute to install or remove and didn’t really have any rails, drains or anything to deal with.
