NEW aFe's 2021-2024 RAM TRX Track Series Carbon Fiber Tube Cold Air Intakes - NOW IN-STOCK

Definitely send it our way! I want to see how much louder than mine it is. I have the AWE with mine so that helps to mask the intake whine a bit. I had some pretty bad drone with the OEM exhaust so that had to go.

You have to turn on "Sound Recording" in the app.
Yeah, so that was it. And now that I think about it, I believe I disabled the sound intentionally when I first installed it.

The blower whine is pretty loud, but I don't hear anything abnormal.

Did you download your video directly to this forum?
Yeah, that video was just to show the level of whine. The weird sound didn't happen on that one. I have another video from this morning where I definitely heard a grinding noise from the SC as it shifted gears. But for some reason, I can't hear it on the video.

As for the video, I converted it down to an MP4 for putting on the forum. The original file was like 156MB, and in a format the forum won't take. Now it's a 12MB MP4 file.

I figured the forum had a size limit. The quality looked really good on my phone, but in full screen on my computer it's a little grainy.

I clipped this video to compare your blower whine to mine. I figured it would be the only apples to apples comparison since we seem to be the only ones with OEM exhaust.

I finally captured a dashcam video that records the weird shimmying sound that my supercharger makes on occasion. I'm not exactly sure if the sound is coming from the supercharger itself, or if there's some weird harmonic vibration induced in the dash. Either way, this was NOT a sound that I used to hear before I installed the cold air intake.
Listen to this - it's at about 7 or 8 seconds, right before my daughter says, "why did it, like,..."

Are you sure it's coming from the front? Any chance it's a cracked resonator screen on the exhaust?

It’s definitely coming from the supercharger. I can hear it like it’s behind the center stack. Not sure if the video is very clear, but it’s a rattling sound right at a shift point (around 2000 rpm, I think). My theory is that the rotors are possibly rattling a bit when they go from acceleration to slight deceleration.
I assume the sound was always there, but I can only hear it now that the supercharger sound is louder in the cabin.
Another new thing, since the new intake went on: At certain RPMs (usually during moderate acceleration), the vibrations from the supercharger hit a harmonic frequency that makes a couple of spots in the cabin buzz/rattle. It’s really hard to explain adequately, and I have no idea how I would keep it from happening.

Did you ever figure this out?

No, not really. There are definitely two things in play here. One is the rattling of random cabin items at certain supercharger frequencies (e.g., there's a buzz in the driver side door panel, and one in the dash).

The main item, though, is the actual supercharger. I've narrowed it down to certain conditions that make the rattle. Generally, it happens when I'm on an uphill incline and being slightly aggressive on the accelerator. If I punch it harder, it doesn't rattle. And if I use the same pedal touch on a flat surface, it doesn't rattle. When it does rattle, it's only at certain RPM's (usually around 2000-2500).

There are other times when I clearly hear odd sounds from the supercharger, but only randomly. Like when I let off the gas and the engine is coasting (and RPMs are gradually bleeding off). At that point, it almost sounds like the rotors are in "free spin" and seem to be wobbling in their bearings a little.

Like I said before, I'm assuming these things always happened but I couldn't hear them. With this intake, the supercharger is MUCH more noticeable.

I wonder if it may be worth having the supercharger looked at while its still under warranty?
