NEW aFe's 2021-2024 RAM TRX Track Series Carbon Fiber Tube Cold Air Intakes - NOW IN-STOCK

Definitely looks like a tight squeeze in there but I really like the look of the set up. There is nothing more frustrating than when they do not include all of the hardware. Let us know your thoughts after driving it around a little.

Will do. Just took it for a short trip around the neighborhood to make sure no codes popped immediately. It’s wet outside and my truck is nice and clean, so I’ll wait until tomorrow to let ‘er rip lol

Here’s the difference in tube sizes coming out of the air box.

That really does look nice. Definitely let us know what the whine sounds like when you drive her tomorrow!!

Well, the family wanted to go get lunch. So now I have a dirty truck.
The whine is a bit obnoxious now. My wife actually accused me of fucking something up because the truck sounds “angry” now.
It sounds like the supercharger is sitting behind the Uconnect screen.

….women…..

So I took the truck out for a while today - with the family again, so no crazy driving (yet).
The whine isn’t quite as ridiculous as it seemed yesterday. Maybe it was just new/different and I was being overly sensitive to the sound.
It’s certainly more pronounced, and almost sounds like it’s coming through the firewall. I’m ok with it, but I suspect my wife and daughter will tire of it quickly.
One odd thing. Since I can hear it better, there are certain conditions where it sounds a little worrisome. I’ll have to experiment a little more, but I think it primarily happens when the engine goes into an up shift (but not a fast/hard one). The supercharger almost sounds like it’s spinning wildly and gets a little…rattly? Not a comforting sound. I’ll have to try to recreate it to the point I can capture audio.

It’s just an intake dude. Won’t mess anything up. As long as you didn’t drop any hardware or screws in there, you’re fine. Let it rip.

Well, if your crew doesn’t come around to the whine, the S&B would probably be a better fit for you. Way less obnoxious than what amounts to an open filter on that AFE.

Cold weather does have an impact on the noise too. Mines always louder in winter. I thought my intake tube fell off the TB awhile back. Nope, just a cold morning.

I wasn’t worried about the intake (or having messed something up on it), I was just saying that I can hear the supercharger better now. And it makes some strange sounds on occasion that I didn’t have the ability to hear before. Sounds that don’t sound quite right.

One thing I think could/should be improved in the design is the drain. You pull out the factory rubber drain and install it into the new air box housing. On the stock air box, the rubber drain piece sits in a recessed section (I.e., lowest point), but the aFe housing is an almost flat bottom. So after you install the rubber drain piece, water won’t naturally drain out of it as well. Only if there’s more than ~1/4” of water in the air box, since the rubber drain piece stands about that much above the bottom.

You have me curious on your supercharger comment. I wonder what the difference could be. Hopefully other members with the same intake can weigh in on the differences they noticed.

It's definitely much louder than stock. is your exhaust OEM by any chance?

It just occurred to me that I can go download my dash cam footage and find that weird sound. Hold please

Son of a bitch, I don't think the FitcamX captures audio. At least, I can't figure out how to listen to it...
