VIN's have jumped into the 4700's. I assume they started issue vin's for other countries to make a thousand VIN jump in 1 month.

How can you tell? You have an "in?" Isn't it kind of weird that my build sheet didn't show up?

Not according to my order sheet. I show a $250 charge for 2 tone paint. I wasn't aware anywhere to request or delete this when I built the truck, which sucks. I would have deleted the 2 tone and went with entire hydro blue. Oops, wait,,, if I had it to do over I would have went with black and my trx would be built by now. Lol

Understand. I also paid the upcharge but in pics/vids I see nothing painted black. Just black plastic. Have you seen a not black truck with actual black paint on it?

I have not seen one in person, but every picture or video of a non-black production TRX I have seen has the black paint strip along the bottom. This includes the picture of the downed granite truck in the factory that has been posted many times on this site.

The bottom 3rd of the doors is painted black on all the trucks. The fender flares and grill and stuff in the front is black plastic

You are correct, these is no way to order a monotone truck in any color except black. The rocker panel and lower section of the doors of ALL colors in black crystal. So any color other than black is two-tone.

Jessica, if you haven't checked recently, might check again. I was C status Dealer Order too. Checked this morning and they said no VIN last week when the looked, but had it today when they pulled it up. Seems like a lot have been generated in the last 4 or 5 days.

Marksouth, I will be checking Friday. I try to limit myself to a once a week call to dealership, since they ready dont reach out to me. Lol

This image makes it easy to see the difference between the plastic fender flares (flat black) and the black crystal painted body between the fender flares.

If you look closely you can see the lower fenders, doors, panels etc are painted black

I can see 2 reasons why they do it:

First they want to differentiate the look of their off road trucks from the regular trucks. FCA has caught a lot of flack for the challenger with the base stripped down model with the V6 being almost indistinguishable from the top of the line performance hellcat from the outside. The rebel and TRX are only offered in the 2 tone unless you get all black.

Second when off roading the lower 3rd of the door and rocker panel are the most likely to get scratched dented etc. By making it 2 tone it is actually cheaper and easier to repair and repaint just the lower part with the damage and not have to worry about blending the new paint into the existing paint of the door higher up.

This is speculation but since it is "only" a $250 option on trucks that have a very expensive starting MSRP I can't see it as just a scheme to get extra money out of people when they are charging $1500 for $10 worth of vinyl for the hood and side graphics packages

I’m probably going to clear wrap the doors and rear fenders anyway because the review vids seem to show lots of mud/etc getting flung as high as door handle

I have two observations.
1) they are not building granite ones because they seem to fall off the assembly line.
2) if this goes on for too long, instead of waving at other TRX drivers i may resort to flipping off all Black TRX’s.
