DEAL 2024 TRXs - No Sold Order Allocations

Im not really seeing the point in pre ordering if the price is at MSRP, you might as well just grab one off the lot. I know what you're going to say, if it's limited allocation the dealership will most certainly charge an ADM if the truck isn't a preorder. The market determines price and the current market hasn't supported a TRX ADM. I have to agree with the last comment, at MSRP I won't bother with a preorder, I'll take my chances or maybe switch to a Braptor. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Sorry if this is a naive question. When talking about retail order vs. stock order I assume a stock order is one the dealership is going to sell on the lot (at retail). Retail orders are from an individual through the dealer. If I read that right it makes sense. But how does this relate to the concept of allocations? Does this mean dealers get a set number of trucks to sell and they can mix between retail and stock orders? Curious as to why the massive price spread between retail orders and stock orders - maybe because RAM loves moving production quantities to higher margin trucks? Or does allocation, in this sense, mean the dealers are going to get a fraction of what they sold in the prior year - essentially choking supply?

Once Dodge went to allocation based for the 23 Hellcats the more desirable trims (Redeye/Super Stock) went to MSRP or above. Based on my experience and reading the Hellcat forums, only about 10% of the buyers were able to secure their order at MSRP. Everyone else paid anywhere from 5k to 30k+ for their order.

FWIW - I'm hearing more and more rumblings that allocation for 2024 is going to be in-play and limited to sales history of the dealership. Again, if that is the case we would be charging MSRP for any TRX for 2024.

Nothing official yet, but that is the rumor I'm hearing increasingly more.
Zach, do you have any Lunars available, or any coming in. If so are those at MSRP. I'm figuring if MSRP is the case I might as well buy the Lunar.

The market isn't the same for the TRX as with the Challenger and Charger. The group of potential buyers for the TRX is much smaller than that of the Challenger or Charger. Anything can happen but I just don't see the GP paying an ADM for a TRX. Look at the special edition colors for the TRX, I see Havoc editions once a week at MSRP and the Lunar doesn't seem to be doing much better so far.

I predict if allocation is limited Ram will try their hardest to push an ADM but eventually will end up selling at MSRP.

I own a 2021 TRX and would be all in on a 2024 order under invoice but at MSRP or over it just doesn't make sense.

Agreed, only so much you can milk out of the teets. Usually TRX buyers look to be gen xers and they don't throw money out the window as much as the younger generation.

What is the cost to send my 23 TRX in for the 37" package? Also, what is the turn around time if its doable?

Hey, thanks for the information. It helped to calm me and to stay focused. Today I just received an email from Granger, it says that I hit D1 status today. So, like you said, hopefully it will get better from here. Thanks.
That's great news, I do hope it speeds up for you now. If the rumors turn out to be true that the 2024s will be on an allotment basis (i.e. Msrp+) then whatever wait you have for your 2023 will have been well worth it. The frustration will fade quickly once you drive it off the lot!

Sadly if this is the case I’ll have to pass. Since it would realistically be driven less than 2000 miles a year, mid $80k’s is justifiable. An additional $10k makes it so I look at other options.

I hope that orders are not allocation based but I suspect they will be. Wrangler 392 is the next vehicle up on my list and at thankfully they are open order. If not I keep my 23 4Runner TRD Pro and pick up a mid priced fun car as a second vehicle. Fingers crossed I’m wrong.
You're probably not getting a 392 Rubicon for much less, sadly. I'm about to order one myself. I love our 2022, but I am going upgrade to the latest UConnect, power seat and most importantly, FULL FLOATING rear axle!

Granger is offering a decent discount on 2024 392 orders currently…. I’m just waiting for 100% confirmation on what Ram is gonna do on the TRX before I make a decision since it is my preferred choice. Not super excited on the Jeep colors though so I’m struggling with holding out for when/if they release limited color(s) or pick up a Raptor.

I like everything you said except "Raptor." You couldn't give me a Ford. My least Favorite part of the Wrangler 392 now is that ugly red interior, so I decided against the half doors to save some cash to completely redo the interior colors. The two vehicles are Apples and Oranges, and I personally like apples.... and oranges. So, I want one of each! :) Retirement is for old people anyway. haha.

I’ve personally had good luck with Ford vehicles and I’m not opposed to many brands. Sadly what I’m looking for in a fun/practical vehicle is limited when I add the fact it needs to have strong resale value since I have a very expensive habit of buying a new car every year. While not the top of my list the Raptor checks most of the boxes.

I’m not a huge fan of the red interior overall but some paint colors work ok with it. Since I have a work car (Tahoe) I can drive pretty much anywhere with free gas, realistically it will spend most of the time sitting. Whatever I do get i has to make me smile when I drive it and it has to have character and sadly the days of V8 vehicle is setting for the average consumer. I’ll prolong the inevitable EV purchase as long as I can. They may be fast but the have no soul…..

Agree to disagree on the Ford discussion, but for everything you say you want/need in a vehicle, the Jeep Rubicon 392 is the right one for you. It is virtually impossible to drive one with a frown. It's the most fun I've had on 4 wheels... and I've owned over 100 vehicles a this point and of course driven many more. The fact that you can run around in basically a 4wd dune buggy with no roof and doors with 500HP seems borderline illegal, but it's not and it's a blast every. single. time.

I already know the TRX won't trump it for fun factor, but what it lacks in fun, it makes up in comfort and utility. So between the TRX, Rubi, and Hellcat Challenger (6-speed), I pretty much have something to scratch every itch (for now). I'm like you and rarely keep a car longer than a year or two tops. It's an investment I'm willing to make into my overall enjoyment of life (and that of those I love who also get to enjoy the toys). I work too hard to miss out on all of the fun. :)

New to the forum but have read a lot of your replies and really find them insightful and helpful. Just wanted to say thank you! Hopefully the 2024 are NOT allocation based because then even getting a 2023 would make it challenging.

Have to agree. I keep going back and forth between the 392 & TRX. Four vehicles in the household makes not more room for a fifth so I have to choose. My two boys each have JK's so I figure a TRX but not sure I want to drive a big truck in Socal traffic

That's why I'm moving out of San Diego, so I can enjoy my TRX. And lower fuel prices.

I can't take delivery til January 1st or later. I don't think this year I'll get a new one. Unless the orders run longer than I predict. If the 25's don't have at least 700 hp, I guess I'll keep the 23.

I would be shocked if there was a 2025 TRX at all, but I could be surprised. If so, I can't imagine it will be Hellcat powered.

I travel a lot in California, from San Diego to Redding and every where in between. I t just floors me how widely gas prices vary in California, depending on where you are at the time. I can only imagine and smile if you are in certain other states that have lower gas prices.
