At the prodding of @Teghogh our store continued to get a definitive answer on the California Emissions issue from Ram and here is what I found out. This took a while to finally get, but it sounds like we have a resolution on this.

We have sold multiple vehicles to California before. In fact, we have delivered 8 new CDJR products to California in the last 12 months. Out of those products we have NEVER had an issue with emissions. All the emissions codes were NAS on the build previously. Fast Forward to 2022 there are 2 available emissions codes 1 is NAA and 1 is NAE.

NAA is the federal emissions standard
NAE is the California emissions standard

If you ordered a TRX and you live in an emissions state (California, Colorado, Connecticut, Deleware, Maine, Mayland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington OR Washginton D.C.) and you ordered from a non-emissions state (i.e. the other 36 states) including us in Iowa. Your truck has the NAA emissions code on it. We as a dealer do not have the option currently to select the NAE emissions standard on a build, but that is what you need. So it is not your dealer's fault! We as a dealership can go through a process to update them on our end. WE ARE ALREADY DOING THIS FOR ALL OUR CUSTOMERS WHO LIVE IN CALIFORNIA EMISSIONS STATES. So nothing to worry about if you are one of our customers! It'll be a smooth and seamless process and we're already resolving it. If you didn't order from us, it is in your best interest to contact your dealership and persist on an update to proper emissions.

If you ordered a TRX and you live in a non-emissions sate - Doesn't matter where you ordered it from, you are good!

If you ordered a TRX from an Emissions state and live in an Emissions state (i.e. Live in California and ordered from Pennsylvania from @dealerinsider) you are good!

The update amounts to not much more than a computer flash and will be handled at the factory before the cars get here.

@Teghogh and his insistence helped us solidify this issue and eliminate what would have been a speed bump down the road in the process because of his prodding.

Hope that helps!

Zach

Now what happens if a Californian drives his truck to say Iowa, that he got from Pennsylvania but he failed to get the proper emissions paperwork/code, but it didn't happen until after he already moved out of California, is there perhaps a clause that would allow him to avoid any of the confusing wording has some folks unsure exactly what the California vs Federal emissions rules entail? Just looking for clarification.

They need to stop with this nonsense. There should be 1 emissions standard, not states picking and choosing what to follow.

If you are in a non-emissions state and purchased a truck already then move to an emissions state, I don't believe you have any obligation to update your vehicle but I'm not the Califonia DMV.

It's gotta have something like 7500 miles on it.

Hi Zach, the trucks would need to come with ca sticker or 50 state to be able to be registered here. Are you also adding the sticker ?

It would just need to have 7k miles to register it in CA with no CA sticker. Or be used with 7k plus miles with no ca sticker.

I Baught my truck out if state (il) luckily it was ca compliant. But when I registered it I asked all these ?'s.

Regardless you need a smog check, and weigh vehicle prior to going to dmv to register a new out of state or used out of state vehicle in CA

@Zach@Granger thanks for getting to the bottom of this. I just wanted to

thank you @Zach@Granger for getting to the bottom of this. Is ram going to give me credit for saving them lots of headache ? I’d like 20k off! 😅

I know you are going to hate me but I can’t resist…😂😂
Now that we know some of the trucks that have already been built such as mine and are stuck in inspection prior to shipment, do you have any idea how long this change is going to delay the shipment ? 😂

I’ve got your truck. You send me the 20k and I’ll mail you your truck! 😂

It made it to headquarters, so I'd assume it's a priority. Just a quick flash is all that's needed. No hardware change.

Can I get what ever program is faster?
Is it a emissions change or a bcm lights issue change?
