Before I do a bunch of research to try and reinvent the wheel, has anybody successfully added passive entry to the rear doors just like the front doors and tailgate have?

The handles all appear to be identical, I'm hoping you could buy (2) new front door handles and just swap them with the rears and tie the harness into the fronts somehow.

I'm sure it won't be that easy, but I'm hopeful lol

*before anybody says, "just reach for the front doors to unlock the rear" that's not the solution I'm looking for- I'm not looking to save money, I'm looking for convenience*

Yes, this is possible, and a few have done it. Handles are the same. I can build the harnesses for the rear doors almost plug n play, but there is no way to avoid tapping into the front door handle switch wires.
That's awesome, do you know who has done this before? Curious if they have any advice/pitfalls to avoid, etc. What would it roughly cost for (2) harnesses (assuming one for each rear door) to stretch up to the front doors to tie in? Can the wire coming off the new handles not just be 'extended' with extra wire to reach up to the front door wires without a harness? All that said, I just want to make sure I'm tapping into the correct wire.
Thanks in advance!

@Jimmy07 will set you straight. He has helped numerous people on the 5thgenrams forum. A lot of people over there have done this mod. He knows what he’s doing!

Not sure who has successfully done this by tapping into the front doors. But this method does not work. I’ve personally tried it. As the rear doors do have antennas. When you tap on the front doors. Neither work and a dtc activates. Unless you run the handles in series which I did not try. However. If you activate the smart door handles for the rear or channel 3 /4 on Bcm and then replace the RFH module it should activate those inputs on the RFH module. Looking at the actual circuitry. It appears the RFH does have the provisions to do this. However you can not update configuration in RFH once it is learned. So a new RFH is needed and that includes pin code key Programing etc. I have handles with wiring etc I shall attempt the series method and see if it works. Can’t get on 5th gen forums right now to search.

I’ve got about 10 sets of rear harnesses out there for people who have successfully added rear passive entry on a variety of 2019-2022 Rams. Including my own 2017 ram.
A new RF hub is not needed.

You sell the harness and instructions? All I need is the replacement OEM handles?

My compustar system enables this….if you are getting an aftermarket security system - it likely has that functionality.

I would also love to do this. Often I am headed up to the truck carrying way too many work bags that go on the back seat, saving having to mess with the front door handle first wouldnbe worth the trouble.

This would be an amazing add on....and I agree the answer of "reach to the front" is not an answer....I open the rear door first most every time for one reason or another.....Is this DIY mod?

Correct. I can set you up with the wiring kit and instructions.
I'm with @DanZman, just let me know what it costs and what it involves please- appreciate the help!!! I can get the door handles from the dealer. I'm assuming they only come in plastic flat black and will need paint matched to the truck...

Jimmy PM’d me a parts list. Handles come painted. He will likely reach out to you as well.

Damn if they come prepainted to match the truck that's just icing on the cake.
