Oil preference and filter

Did you use blackstone? They received mine February 21st. Still no word from them...
Sorry, I just saw this. Mine took several weeks from when they received it to when it was analyzed and results were available. To be honest, I normally forget that I have sent it in and am surprised when I get a "analysis results" email from them.

Not too long ago Viper and other SRT products had M1 as the factory fill. Now that Stellantis is in bed with Shell, they basically want people to think M1 and everything else is somehow unacceptable to use. In some cases on the same exact engines. Please. Nothing changed except where the money comes from.

I don’t think anyone else will ever get that “material standard” for that reason. Especially not Amsoil. Their SS line doesn’t even have an official API certification. Not that it is a bad thing, but that’s a story for another day.

Also worth emphasizing that Ram doesn’t explicitly require the oil to meet MS-A0921. They just recommend.
I watched a lot of comparison videos on YouTube and amsoil out performed the recommended pennsoil oil TRX recommends by a tiny bit. I use a Hell Cat oil filter. So SS Amsoil & Hell Cat oil filter and change the oil myself at 5K miles.

It took you so long to answer I forgot I asked you. Do you work for blackstone lol jk 🤣. Jokes aside you might want to give amsoil a try. They were a couple weeks faster and do a "better" test for less money 💰

Just what I needed, more oil.

I didn’t price shop too much, but it was more expensive than I can get both Amsoil SS and Red Line so this is probably gonna be a one-off for me. That is, unless it shows me something really special. But for those wanting API maybe it makes sense.

Just did this a couple days ago and the FE2 filter

I've recently hit the 30,000-mile mark in just two years. I changed the break-in oil at 1,000 and again at 5,000 miles. Since then, I've been changing the oil every 5,000 miles. I've just sent a sample to Blackstone Laboratories at my 30K service interval, but the new dealership I visited last time recommended changing the oil every 3,500 miles. Depending on the results from Blackstone, I'll decide whether to stick with the factory-recommended Pennzoil or switch to Liqui Moly and I will do it myself. I noticed some of you change your oil every 4,000 miles; is there a specific reason for that? Thanks in advance for any advice.

I've been on the 5k oil change schedule on all my Hellcat engines. (5 of them) Same with my Vettes. Zero problems.

i do 3,000 miles since i intend to keep this truck well over 100,000 miles and oil is a big part of that longevity.

I did my first at about 1500 miles and then I’ve been doing every 3000-3500 miles mainly because of the PUP falling out of grade so quickly. I also do a lot of short trips and drive it pretty hard. My next oil change I’m switching over to Amsoil so will feel comfortable letting it go a little bit longer.

i switched to Redline this Thursday and i am not going back. PUP seems not optimal.

I’ve been changing my oil every 5K miles, but I now think I’ll change it every 4K miles … because at every 5K mile change my oil is “very very black” and I don’t do any off-roading or really fast driving, just every day driving, nothing out of the ordinary.

you using PUP? that could be part of it too, it degrades faster than Redline.

Pennzoil ultra platinum. The factory oil they put in the truck
I’ve watched a lot of comparison YouTube videos on the different oils and Amsoil out performed PUP by a little bit so I started using Amsoil. What do you use, maybe there’s something better?

I just switched to amsoil this past oil change. Plan on getting another sample at about 4k-5k miles and compare it to my last sample with 2,200 miles on the PUP oil

Yeah my Amsoil is pretty black at 5K, I like this oil and I’ll stick with it, just going to start changing it at 4-4.5K miles, bought a “ValvoMax oil change system” Quick Twist, this is about a less messy oil change. Allows you to empty oil
into a container you can put a cap on. So I’m better and faster at changing my oil.
