2022 loaded TRX OR 2018 loaded Audi RS-7 Performance

It’s and apples and oranges comparison if you ask me. The truck serves multiple purposes and has a level of utility that no sedan or car of any sort can offer. For me it’s a simple decision because I have direct access to some pretty sweet off road trails and areas. I find that using the truck as it was designed and getting away from people is very enjoyable and rewarding. I also have no use for a sedan. If I was in another area I’d probably consider one. The RS-7 is a badass ride if you decide to go with it. That’s going to be a tough choice if you like that sort of ride. The only other rig I’d personally consider would be a wrangler 392.
Definitely know it’s apples to oranges. I even wrote that. I just want to hear what educated car/truck people like you and others on this forum have to say about it so I can take it all into account. This is something I have to think about very closely.

TRX all day. I had a 2021 Audi RS7, tuned and lowered. Nice car but got bored with it quickly and sold it after 2 months. With how fast SUVs and now trucks are, sedans don't appeal to me like they used to.
Can I just hear how you can get bored of an RS-7 ? A sedan that can smoke supercars all day long ?!? Lol

Had an Audi Q5 3.2. Best driving car I had ever had. As soon as the warranty expired I had mechanical issues every year after,$2-3K. I agree if you can afford the car, you should be able to afford the maintenance. But I felt like I was being raped every time I walked into the dealership. I would never own another one unless I pre-planned to get rid of it whenever the warranty was up or get extended warranty.

I forgot to mention there is a 3rd party transferable warranty I can pick up the payments on. It was just under $140 a month. It covers the entire power train and a few other of the expensive/ important things on the car that off hand I cannot recollect. It’s good for 10 years or 100,000 miles.
To make sure there weren’t any restrictions on exactly where I can service an Audi RS-7, I confirmed that I will be able to take the RS-7 to ANY Audi dealership’s service department. As per the contract and a representative I spoke to after calling in to make sure.

It's hard for me to get excited over ICE "supercars" anymore (and I say that with a heavy heart). I mean a mom leaving Whole Foods in her Model Y Performance will give you a run for your money in that Audi (ok at least to 60mph ;)) . It's just a different world now. 🤷‍♂️

I was going to get an RS7 back in the day. Test drove a few of them. While RS7 is impressive, the TRX is more versatile and can be used in a lot more situations.

if you ask my wife she will say TRX, if you ask me I would go RS7, we have a similar garage scenario F90 M5 and TRX, the wife very much prefers the TRX to daily. I very much prefer the M5.

Traded a 2021 R8 Performance in for it.... had a 2019 GT3 RS after it... It was fast but it wasn't "smoking super cars".
I had my RS7 in Florida just north of you, it is a great car for that area.

So you come on and talk about all the great stuff of the RS7 and nothing positive from your perspective about the TRX, seems like you are trying to talk yourself into the car but you know deep down the TRX is the more attractive, more versatile and more badass vehicle.

Second, you talk about the RS7 "smoking supercars Goliath". Sorry it just isnt smoking any modern supercar with a 3.2 0-60 and a 11.3 second quarter mile.

I will give my $.02. I bought a 4 year old 911 Turbo in 2013. It was absolutely loaded (Aero kit, ceramic brakes etc). Stickered at $162K in 2008 before tax. The car was fast, AWD, pulled like a freight train, stopped on a dime and cornered like it was on rails. Honestly it was also the most boring car to drive at anything less than 150mph (I actually owned it while I was stationed in Germany so it got a lot of autobahn time). The difference between the RS7 and the 997 Turbo Porsche...the Audi is just a plain jane boring ass sedan. It looks like every other 4 door sedan on the road. AMGs have a distinct muscular style, porsches have the wide hips....audi RS7s look like every other boring ass lexus or hyundai genesis out there.

No one is going to pull up next to you at a light and roll the window down and say nice car like the will with the TRX (I have had my TRX for 2 weeks and less than 200 miles and it has happened 8 times already, not that I am looking for that but it highlights that it is a different beast).

Can you beat a mustang or camaro stop light racing? Sure but so can the TRX. But neither can beat a real supercar (Lambo, McLaren, Porsche)...and for arguments sake, say it CAN beat a supercar. So can a lot of Honda civics out there.....

The question only you can answer is do you want to marry the boring, flat as a board straight laced girl that gets good grades or do you want to marry the smokin hot blond with curves in all the right places that makes you heart skip a beat when you see her from a distance or upclose. The RS7 will get lost on the sea of boring ass 4 door sedans in the parking lot...just like that flat as a board good girl.

So I kind of had the same "dilemma" while waiting for my TRX. Mine was sparked out of impatience more than anything else and considered getting another Challenger or Charger Scatpack or above. However, I already owned a pickup and I knew I couldn't just not have a pickup truck anymore. So it was a matter of keeping what I had and getting a muscle car (or a really good sports car, that was on the table too). But in the end, I decided the smartest thing for me personally was to wait on the TRX and I am very happy I did. Now I have a muscle car motor in a beast of a truck so for me, it's the best of both worlds.

I guess it comes down to why did you order the TRX? Is it because it's kind of unique? Is it because you feel you need/want a truck so why not get a high-performance one? If you don't care about the truck as a truck then maybe the Audi is the way to go if it really excites you. The TRX doesn't handle like a sports car by any stretch of the imagination. It handles like a truck, probably better than most, but it's still a truck. I wouldn't call it a "driver's car" or anything of that type. It is a straight-line powerhouse that will haul your crap around when you need it to though. And it's extremely comfortable on a daily drive, long-distance hauls, etc. In my opinion anyway. ;-)

Do what your heart desires which is buy the Audi....you're just coming here looking for a few people to back up what you already want to do.....there will always be a TRX for sale if you want to move to that at some point....

Thanks for chiming in. I appreciate the response. Just to play devil’s advocate now. What kind of immediate and or short term Maintanance will be needed on a car that has less than 9,000 miles ? While being driven by a 74 year old retired orthodontist?

With all that you still think I should worry about any issues that will come up immediately or in the short to middle term ?!?
There are those that know and those destined to find out. Audi is a glorified VW but with a smaller dealer network for service, parts and repair costs that make Mercedes envious. It is also a Porsche, just missing the resale value. Good luck on your purchase, just find a good Audi mechanic, because you’re going to need one.

Definitely get the Audi, unique and rare car. TRX’s are a dime a dozen these days, especially out here in Southern California. If you really want something special go for that Audi wagon, the RS6 Avant!!!

If I were to sell my TRX I'd get the wagon, great DD. But I'm not selling anytime soon.

I have always owned an Audi, heck, I still own one. Had a totally modded RS3, that was an awesome drag car, pretty good on twisties and would be the crap out of you on the street. My AMG GLC63s would out run the RS7 up to the 1/4 mile and my 0-60 was faster. It also held the Ring record for SUVs(not mine, just a stock one)

That being said, I almost bought a new RS7 last year because all in all, it is one of the best cars out there.

The TRX is my first truck in 17 years and I really like it. It will pretty much do anything you ask of it and there is something just badazz about a big truck that can outrun a lot of "hot cars" on the road.

I had a new ZO6 pull up beside me the other day and asked if I wanted to race. I said, yep, as long as the first 1/2 of the race is on dirt. I then revved it up in neutral, let the AWE sing and he just said, "count me out under those race conditions but that thing sounds awesome". The light tuned green and he hit it, I just rolled out like a grandma in a van....

Get both.....

Let me chime in since we have both those cars. Two totally different vehicles. The technology in the Audi is light years ahead of the TRX. The finish and materials is also. The Audi is way faster. Both get looks but I would put the Audi on top as a head turner. Here is ours.

I need your opinion on the forum’s thoughs given this opportunity I came across.
Let me preface this conversation stating that I obviously know these two vehicles are completely different and couldn’t be further in offering different driving capabilities for different lifestyles.

I have come upon an opportunity to get a spectacular private deal on a Florida, garage kept, and senior citizen driven less than 9K mile 2018 Audi RS-7 that’s LOADED. Including Carbon Ceramic brakes and the full Audi sport “Akropovic Revolution” titanium exhaust that was a $9,000 option back in 2018. An exhaust note so biblical & holy in sound it puts the TRX exhaust note to shame. I have my ordered TRX that’s being built and can still back out losing a small deposit of $500, BUT I really am not sure if I want to do that. The Audi is about $5,000 less than the TRX and we are talking about an RS-7. A sedan that on the daily is a supercar beating Goliath that is in a class only with cars like top AMG sedan models E63 and S63 and Porsche Panamera Turbo sedans.
THOUGHTS PEOPLE !!! HELLLLLLLP !
Do you want pancakes and eggs or a hamburger and fries? There is no right or wrong here. They are completely different.

Personally, the RS7 would be a worthless extra vehicle that I could hardly ever drive. Doesn't hold enough kids, dogs or gear to serve as a daily driver so it would sit in the garage 98% of the time. That means only 2% fun. I would buy the one that you could drive the most.

As for Audi, I am a reformed Audi fanboy. The RS7 roof is too low if you are over 6' tall. At 6'2" I hit my head on the door frame when exiting and my hair rubs on the ceiling which I hate. Not the case on the S6/RS6 or S8. RS6 was always my dream ride and I drove one in Germany for a while. Today it would be R8 or bust, but I am out of the speedy car market.

I vote for the RS6 Avant (I know it's not an option, but honetly it's the Audi I'd buy if I was going to buy an Audi). They are wicked fast, and still has some SUV like utility. I did launch control in one a couple months ago and it literally throws your brain into the back of your skull and you get tunnel vision. It's wicked looking too.

Someone else said buy the RS7 and sell it/trade it when the TRX arrives. That's not a bad idea. Scratch both itches.

Edit: at 6'6" the RS6 had plenty of headroom even for me. I can see how the RS7 would not.
