Do we know if the mirrors will be the same color as the truck body? In the TFL video where they spotted two trucks the red truck had red mirrors while the blue one had black.

Also, will there be a 500 mile break in period like the Trackhawk before we can do launch control?

The blue truck I think are the tow mirrors and are black, the regular ones will be body color. Yes, expect a break in period.

I thought the break in was 1500 miles?

SRT Engine Break-In Recommendations: The following tips will be helpful in obtaining
optimum performance and maximum durability for your new SRT Vehicle.
Despite modern technology and World Class manufacturing methods, the moving parts of
the vehicle must still wear in with each other. This wearing in occurs mainly during the first
500 miles (805 km) and continues through the first oil change interval.
It is recommended for the operator to observe the following driving behaviors during the
new vehicle break-in period:

0 to 100 miles (0 to 161 km):
•Do not allow the engine to operate at idle for an extended period of time.
•Depress the accelerator pedal slowly and not more than halfway to avoid rapid acceleration.
•Avoid aggressive braking.
•Drive with the engine speed less than 3,500 RPM.
•Maintain vehicle speed below 55 mph (88 km/h) and observe local speed limits.

100 to 300 miles (161 to 483 km):
•Depress the accelerator pedal slowly and not more than halfway to avoid rapid
acceleration in lower gears (1st to 3rd gears).
•Avoid aggressive braking.
•Drive with the engine speed less than 5,000 RPM.
•Maintain vehicle speed below 70 mph (112 km/h) and observe local speed limits.

300 to 500 miles (483 to 805 km):
•Exercise the full engine rpm range, shifting manually (paddles or gear shift) at higher
rpms when possible.
•Do not perform sustained operation with the accelerator pedal at wide open throttle.
•Maintain vehicle speed below 85 mph (136 km/h) and observe local speed limits.

For the first 1500 mi (2414 km):
•Do not participate in track events, sport driving schools, or similar activities during the
first 1500 mi (2414 km).

Wonder how many will follow the break in period.... it will be hard for me! Haha

I planned a road trip to my wife's sister right after I get the truck. That worth 600 miles right there.
Just don’t forget your teachings “ Grasshopper” ... ha

That is awesome if regular mirrors are body color, I much prefer that but I haven't seen any body color but the TFL video. In regards to the break in period, I thought we just couldn't do launch control, I had no idea they wanted us to stay below 70 mph! That is going to be hard when that is below speed limit on our highways!

And if I am not mistaken we are supposed to change the oil at 500, 1000, 1500 miles. Then every 6 months or 6000 miles, whichever comes first.

So did you really follow the breaking procedure with your Challenger? If so how hard was that?? Thanks for the info!!

I loosely followed the break in instructions on my Charger Hellcat and babied it for the first 1500 miles. It took some will power not to just go wide open throttle every time I drove it. But I think it is worth the wait.
I don't remember having to change the oil before the first 3000 miles though.

My Challenger is the 6.4 engine. The took it easy for the first 500 though. And changed the oil at 1000 since it was a free from the dealership.

LOL! I'm on my 4th challenger, this is not the case and more stuff made up by sporty. Hey sporty, are they done tweaking the hydro blue color yet?

ALERT ALERT ALERT: The site tough guy has shown up. It was only a matter of time before someone claimed it on this new site. I never claimed to be an expert about any of this. Why don't you explain it us, since you have you are on your 4th Challenger instead of talking S**T. And the Hydro Blue info was pulled over from FB, I did not write that, I was only sharing with the group.
So tell which part was made up? The 500 mile oil change or the 6 month/6000mile interval?

My buddies new redeye was computer limited until 500 miles.

The 500 mile oil change. Not a tough guy, calling you out on this nonsense stuff you post. It is not helpful. When I can offer information I give it, when I need information I ask for it, that's consistent with my posts. When I don't know, I don't make stuff up to hear myself talk or spread rumors from unverified sources like a high school girl. Grow up. We are here to learn and have good conversations about our automotive passions.

Every car has some sort of break in and I've done it sometimes based on the manual the vehicle comes with...

Other times I didn't care cause I knew I wasn't keeping the car past the warranty period anyway

I stand corrected. I have never owned a 6.2 and you should know since you have a Demon. I should have stated my post as a question to find out everyone's take. I know that I read that or heard the 500 miles change but that could have very well been others opinion.

My 2 cents on a "break in period" is the manufacturer can't tell how you drive the car and made a product that they are willing to give a full bumper to bumper warranty on for the first 36,000 miles. They do disable the launch control on other vehicles with the hellcat engine for the first 500 miles which means they have data to suggest that using launch in the first 500 miles either causes damage (I doubt it) or more likely they don't want a bunch of salesmen and test drivers doing launch control on brand new vehicles over and over on cars that haven't had their first owner yet.....The likelihood that you damage something in the break in period by not following their suggestions that waits until after the warranty has expired to break is infinitesimally small

I've always just driven any new vehicle the way that I plan on driving it for the duration I own it whether it is mile 10 or 100,000 on the odometer and this truck my plan is to daily it like my normal daily driver trucks in the past and when I am fortunate enough to be the first at a red light open it up to get thrown back in the seat and put a smile on my face when it turns green....But to each his own if you want to obey the suggested break in period and it gives you a warm fuzzy feeling its your truck do with it what you want, but if you are doing it because you think it is going to improve the longevity of the drive-train plan on babying it for the entire life of the truck because that will undoubtedly keep the repair costs to a minimum but then imo there is no real point in paying an $18k premium for an extra 350 HP over a fully loaded rebel

Yup, you could listen to guy on the internet, or, you could follow the recommendations of the engineers who designed this extremely sophisticated engine and the recommendations of the company that holds your warranty. Not really a tough choice.
I also doubt that you would "break" something, but yes it could cause unnecessary wear as the rings may not be fully seated, things have not been heated up and cooled down, etc. which could cause less compression, oil use, etc. down the road. Its 500 miles guys, not a big deal. After that you can beat the hell out of these engines everyday and they will be good to you.
Lastly, 702-395=307

Sounds very reasonable to me. As I want to have this truck for a long while... better safe than sorry. Thanks for your input.
