Word of Caution with Koon’s:

I’ve bought a lot of nice cars in my life and never have been questioned on little things after the fact. Never had to fine tooth comb a car. Koon’s is bad in that regard. But I saved 10k so I spent a few hundred and fixed it. No biggie but shame on Koon’s! And the days of “reputation mattering” are fast approaching again.

Koons was great for me, I’ve bought two trucks from them. Both of my trucks had minor imperfections, fit & finish, couple scuffs, but I mean come on they are produced on the same line by the same workers that build sub $40k work trucks. Koons was reasonable and addressed my concerns, I spent 20 minutes looking each vehicle over before I signed. That’s your job.

You do realize they are making next to NO money on these trucks right? Especially the ones that are paid for in cash or bring their own financing. They are moving volume with steep discounts . You want a boutique experience? Buy from your local dealer at MSRP.

1. The fact that Koons did you right, helps the OP how exactly ?
2. You basically said they are making no money, so the customer should just accept shit that is wrong. Lol.

I disagree. The fact that the dealer is making "next to no money on these" isn't the customer's fault.

Just my opinion.

I disagree with the notion that these dealers "make no money". They definitely do on the back end, there are volume quotas and other incentives from the manufacturer for dealerships that sell in volume. That's why sometimes its easier to get the deal you're looking for at bigger dealerships that are part of auto groups rather than smaller franchises.

Word of caution. If you buy your TRX (or any vehicle) from Koon’s, I strongly urge you to spend a considerable amount of time looking the vehicle over with a fine tooth comb at delivery. Because if you find any interior or exterior factory defects afterwards (EVEN TWO DAYS AFTER DELIVERY) like scratches that you certainly did not cause or obvious factory leather rip repairs, they will NOT make them right. Unbeatable prices. Horrible customer service.
Sounds like the Walmart experience

As they should. Did you point the stuff out before you left?
I did. One specific individual acted like a little diva about it too. I wrote a post about it in another Koons thread.

They hurried me in and out as if they didn’t want me to point anything out. Bet this is a common practice for them. I just randomly looked at their better business bureau rating (which I am aware is not always the end all be all) and the complaints are plentiful! And their rating is an F. Go figure.

Don't know about Cummins but I couldn't be happier with Granger start to finish.

Granger has been top notch on customer service. Amanda is very prompt. Zach has been honest and professional.

Theoretically covered under warranty, but good luck trying to get that to happen. I ordered my truck through Koons and noticed a gouge in the bezel of the touch screen before leaving the lot. Was told that it could be taken care of at any dealer near me and covered under warranty no problem. Well I took it to my local dealer and they initiated the case on their end and set me up with an appointment a few weeks later. The appointment came and I dropped it off only to be called about 3 hours later and told it has to go back to Koons. They are claiming that it could be damage from transport or while at the dealership. I notified Koons and they said they haven't run into this scenario and to open a Ram Care case. I did and that still got me nowhere, saying I need to return to Koons for this. Emailed Koons on Wednesday without a response so far. Hoping Koons can make this right but quite frustrating that I was informed that this could be handled anywhere, yet that's not the case, and now I have wasted numerous hours trying to sort this out.
I want to follow up my post, since I realize I'm getting reactions to it and never gave a conclusion. Koons ended up taking care of me and I am very grateful for Brian's assistance. He coordinated ordering the touch screen and had it sent to me after we discussed on the phone that I would be comfortable installing it. This part costs around $900 if I recall... it's not cheap! Ram Cares also reopened my case (I think my original case manager either quit or got fired... she was less than helpful) and my new case manager, Amy, was a godsend. Excellent communication and followup on her part. The part was on backorder and she helped expedite its delivery, so I received it within the week. She offered additional avenues for resolution, including covering the cost of install, but I told her I didn't mind undertaking the task. Very grateful for their help because I easily could have been out of luck and stuck with the damage.

The headrest looks like a factory defect in the leather. I would have your local dealer take a look at it and they should be able to get it replaced for you.

They make plenty of money. Think of how easy it is - order, never pay lot charge, just clear a few grand, then volume incentives. They make a nice bundle on each truck.
