Word of caution. If you buy your TRX (or any vehicle) from Koon’s, I strongly urge you to spend a considerable amount of time looking the vehicle over with a fine tooth comb at delivery. Because if you find any interior or exterior factory defects afterwards (EVEN TWO DAYS AFTER DELIVERY) like scratches that you certainly did not cause or obvious factory leather rip repairs, they will NOT make them right. Unbeatable prices. Horrible customer service.

Theoretically covered under warranty, but good luck trying to get that to happen. I ordered my truck through Koons and noticed a gouge in the bezel of the touch screen before leaving the lot. Was told that it could be taken care of at any dealer near me and covered under warranty no problem. Well I took it to my local dealer and they initiated the case on their end and set me up with an appointment a few weeks later. The appointment came and I dropped it off only to be called about 3 hours later and told it has to go back to Koons. They are claiming that it could be damage from transport or while at the dealership. I notified Koons and they said they haven't run into this scenario and to open a Ram Care case. I did and that still got me nowhere, saying I need to return to Koons for this. Emailed Koons on Wednesday without a response so far. Hoping Koons can make this right but quite frustrating that I was informed that this could be handled anywhere, yet that's not the case, and now I have wasted numerous hours trying to sort this out.

So you should go to a local dealership and have them review the issues. If it's a factory defect or issue it will be covered under warranty.

Sometimes the factory or dealership nicks and scratches things here and there and if not caught at delivery they won’t claim ownership. Not a huge deal. With the amount I saved I’ll fix myself but disappointed that the dealership wouldn’t make it right.

Damn this sucks. Sorry OP. I am going to have my delivery at Koons in the next week or two, so I will definitely be vigilant. I had an issue like this with another vehicle I own, but it was super easy to get it repaired. Your TRX had leather tears? Any place folks should look especially when picking up?

The back of the drivers headrest and the center console lid. Just not acceptable for a 100k truck.

Here are pics of the back of the headrest and the fog lamps. Both fog lamps and the bezel had these scratches. Weird. Anyways, just take your time and go over it and note anything you see with pics and let sales staff know so you are covered because if you leave the dealership, it’s on you.

Did this ever get resolved for you? I just got the email that my truck has arrived at Koons today.

No. They refused to fix anything that wasn’t pointed out at delivery. Take your time and look it over. I mean spend a good amount of time. Check out the fog lights for scratches, interior leather for rips, tears, repaired tears, etc. It will be worth it. I am fixing my stuff out of pocket.

This is going to happen regardless of which dealer you buy from. I had a similar situation. The selling dealer was wiling to fix the scratch, but the dealer was to far away. The local, non-selling dealer has to go thru their regional RAM manager to get warranty coverage. The regional manager will always respond as you found. When you buy the vehicle and drive it off the lot you have accepted it flaw free (regarding scratches, etc, not subsequent warranty breakage), unless you conditionally accept it with flaws that will be fixed as described in the sales contract. There is a dealer form that you can use to describe the dealer deliverables, such as scratch or other repair. Without that, your acceptance is flaw free.

Not always, I had a passenger window scratch and gouge in the passenger seat leather in a Cherokee TrailHawk that I ordered from an out of state dealer. I didn't notice either until after I'd got it home and completely gone through it and the window scratch was only obvious in direct sunlight coming through that specific window (I picked it up in the evening). Drove it over to my local FCA dealership a couple of days later and they had no issues at all ordering in a new glass and seat cover. Took around 7 days IIRC to come in but they happily replaced them for me under warranty.

They won’t make it right. Did same thing to me. The car game is about to change and those that shunned responsibility will suffer financially. Like Koon’s.

Koons was great for me, I’ve bought two trucks from them. Both of my trucks had minor imperfections, fit & finish, couple scuffs, but I mean come on they are produced on the same line by the same workers that build sub $40k work trucks. Koons was reasonable and addressed my concerns, I spent 20 minutes looking each vehicle over before I signed. That’s your job.

You do realize they are making next to NO money on these trucks right? Especially the ones that are paid for in cash or bring their own financing. They are moving volume with steep discounts . You want a boutique experience? Buy from your local dealer at MSRP.

Boutique? You being serious? Scratched items are easily replaced at minimal cost. Not about the money. About what’s right. I fixed myself for a few hundred bucks. Not about the money. It’s about the principal. And if you think they are in business not to make money you are dead wrong. They have a volume dealer floor plan. It’s all about making money and I don’t feel bad for them.

He sounds like he works at Koons 🤣

Totally agree they need to figure out how to fix the trucks before the customer shows up, rather than hope they don't care/notice.

No bro. You should take it as is and be happy! They make no money. Feel bad for them! 🤦🏻‍♂️

They're replacing my fender flares next week. There's a front trim panel that's also scratched on order. It would have been nice to never go back there again...

I've always taken pictures and videos of my cars prior to accepting delivery. In addition, most dealerships have a document called "We Owe / Due Bill" and I make sure any damages or discrepancies I find are notated there.

I'm not sure if your damages were notated or not but when this document was filled out you should have made sure that any damages that were found during delivery were properly documented. This should be a part of all the documentation you are required to sign and take home with you after purchase.

I know this is after the fact in your case, but I hope this may help another member in the future.
