Windshield replacement

anyone with factory glass have spots on their glass they cannot get off? You know the spots around the edge of the glass that i think are etched? Yea i have multiple spots on the inside of my windshield and a big spot on my sunroof. looking to see if i can warranty that (ignore the crack though :ROFLMAO: 🤫)

for the folks that had issues after windshield replacement, how did you know that it (HUD, Adaptive cruise control, emergency braking, etc) wasn't working?

Did you have to test all the features out, or did it throw an error on the gauge cluster?

Im down for a response to this. I have my windshield replaced and it is aftermarket, done by safelite. They recalibrated. I have not noticed issues, or error lights. Lane detection and ACC works. Emergency braking also works as well for me. I have seen the BRAKE flash on my cluster once or twice after my replacement in a couple situations. ACC cruise works at the distances i want. I can set and forget the gas/brake when im in a fast lane with traffic ahead of me.

I had to replace my windshield and I went to Safelite and they installed an aftermarket windshield and none of my forward looking stuff wasn’t working.

Evidently, you have to install only factory windshields because of how it’s set up for all the forwarding sensors and stuff.

As far as I know, there’s no way around it, you have to put in a factory windshield.

Although I can’t disagree with you as your mileage is different than mine. I’ve read on this forum that you HAVE to have mopar glass. I don’t see how mopar only glass only allows these features to work? I have had zero issues. Now this can be case by case and if you have mods, or if the shop that worked on it did a decent job. My replacement time was about 3 hours from drop off to pick up.

When you say they don’t work, does it throw and error?

did your dash display anything when it wasn't working?

i'm going to safelite today to get my windshield replaced with an OEM. I understand that since it's OEM and after calibration everything should work, but I just want to understand how i'll be able to determine if something isn't working (emergency braking, ACC, LCA, etc). Will my dash display an error/code, or do I just need to test everything out?

Reader digest version:
I had my ws replaced with a aftermarket ws a week ago and it had to be recalibrated at the CDJR dealer. It all works fine now.

Story:
When I bought my TRX a week ago from a non CDJR dealer part of the deal was they would replace the windshield. It was a aftermarket windshield and everything was fine on the way home, about 4 miles. The next day after driving less than a mile dash warnings pop up with ACC disabled, Pedestrian Emergency braking disabled and one or two others. I returned to the dealer I purchased from and they contacted the glass installer and they said that a CDJR dealer would have to recalibrate. The dealer I purchased it from took it to the local CDJR service department and they recalibrated it and all is fine now.

The dash on mine had the ACC fault light and FCW fault lights on. When I tried to activate ACC it displayed "Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and LaneSense off" and "ACC Unavailable Service Required".

I have had zero errors like that pop up for me since my replacement. Was using acc and lane change yesterday and everything worked as expected. IMO I would let safelite know. I’ve heard that recalibration is best done in a shop than it is having safelite perform a mobile install (info from a safelite tech)

Thank you for verifying how you determined the error.

I'm glad CDJR was able to recalibrate to fix it.

I'm going through Safelite today and they're using OEM glass, and they will be calibrating it too. I'm hoping they have access to the same tools/procedure as CDJR since they're certified. Not sure if I need to, but I'm going to put IGLA in service mode for the calibration so they don't have any issues.

Anytime and thank you. Hopefully your replacement comes out good.

Good lord, why cheap out on aftermarket glass? Get the Mopar OEM glass and have your insurance pay for it like a normal person.

I had to go back and forth with my insurance for over a week to get Mopar OEM glass (part # 68451039AA). It was well worth the effort.

I had the windshield replaced on my 21 about two years ago at the dealer. It was about 2K. Everything worked afterwards.

lol because i didnt want to pay 2600 for glass after coming off of paying to replace my rear window from an attempted theft. Lowered my deductible to $300 to handle this replacement so that was nice! I guess if I have any issues with my truck using aftermarket glass I'll report that here. So far I have had none. (y)🫡

I went through my insurance and used a local shop. They used factory glass. Probably from the dealer next door. I have HUD, lane assist and all that. They calibrated it and everything works fine. I wouldn’t let my local dealer put a chain back on a bicycle.
Hahahahah
