Whipple Supercharger Gen V 3.0

I made 760whp on the stock blower on 93 upper only, could have gotten closer to 800whp (tuner said the 2.75 would have been fine) but decided not to risk it, just went to E85 and 2.65 instead...the Whipple would definitely go over the 800whp mark but I do wonder about fueling...nothing worse than running lean. I also had the JMS installed just to be safe.
Do you have an crank pulley as well?
 
I do not, but we are adding the ATI 10% as part of the Whipple install. To date I've been upper only.
I am one to worry about over spinning the blower (hair dryer effect).

With me having a 3.75 upper and stock fuel pump on the Whipple I know there is tons of room for more power. I can only speculate from my experience.

He is getting over 1k WHP on E85 with the stock blower and turbos. I am guessing again that you could achieve the same with a Whipple and the right pulley.

We learn as we go…… One of the Hellcat Forums my have more info on the Whipple since they have more vehicles on the road and a longer history. Same platform so should be relative info.

If you're going TTRX and E85...you need to shoot for the moon man. I'd be getting rods/pistons and trying for 1200-1300whp just for shits. I'm afraid you could blow the motor up pushing it too hard on the stock short block.
 
I’ve searched around some but given a good tune and setup, at what hp and trq level do these engines typically fail?

what intake are you using . do you have any pics of the engine bay?
 
I used a silicone elbow reducer. Since I have the Whipple stage 2 and the TTRX kit mine may be different, but I went with a 4”x5” elbow. Here is a link to their website.

Only pictures I have in my phone, but I can send better pictures when I get back to my shop in the next day or so. Hope this helps.

I ran right around 900whp today with the stock 3.75 Whipple pulley @ 17psi. My installer made a mistake and realized too late that they did not have extra pulleys for the Gen5, all of theirs were for Gen4 / Gen3 whipples, so we had to put in an order. Getting 2 more with a goal of 20-20.5psi.

ATI 10% lower. Not 100% sure timing was fully dialed in either, we'll have it back on the dyno Thurs/Fri with the smaller upper and continue the tune.

I had to remove my lower, was getting to much boost. I have an incognito if you know anyone looking.

What are you trying to stay around with the Whipple/TTRX combo boost wise?

I really want to drop a forged motor in....just not going to be able to do it within the next couple of months, wife is ready to hit the DIVORCE button over my baby TRX :)

I’m almost in the same boat with the wife. 🤣😂🤣

I was peaking around 30, safe is 25 so I’m trying to stay closer to 22-23 until I finish the built motor to swap them out, which may be a minute 😟

At least you have it in mind. I think you would have been somewhat disappointed spending the money on the compound setup and sticking to conservative numbers due to the limits of the stock internals. But 30psi on a built motor will be some strong numbers.
 
So what I’m hearing is 850-900whp on proper octane and tune can be reasonably safe on these trucks engines. How about the 8speed? ZF/95 are pretty stout, but wondered how they will tolerate the weight and torque of this truck. Thoughts/experiences?

I mean you're going to see 1100-1200whp pretty damn soon from a number of people with built motors. Shit, the DSR crate motor makes 1150 on 93 octane.

Rods are considered the bigger failure of the stock motors, per most the conversations I've had owning this vehicle, hence at the very least needing a drop in set of pistons/rods to handle the additional pressure from all the boost people are adding. As far as drivetrain, there are no aftermarket driveshafts, axles, etc yet available for the truck. I'm sure the transmission will hold up, but as for the rest, we shall see.
