What is wrong with Uconnect that NEEDS TO BE FIXED?

2024 Ram TRX navigation not loading in the digital instrument cluster. This started about two months ago and yes you can switch between themes that will force it to appear but after the truck sits for 15 minutes it goes away. This is what my dealership has done so far. 1, replaced the digital instrument cluster with no fix. 2, replaced the uconnect 5 nav radio with no fix. They opened a STAR case with nothing and now advised they need my truck for a few days and plan on having an agent sent out to assist with the issue. Will keep everyone updated on what they fine.

Update to my previous post on “2024 Ram TRX navigation not loading in the digital instrument cluster”. Hope this help you all in getting this issue fixed. My dealership received the new radio in with the previous software of T27.46 and replaced it. This has fixed the issue of the navigation not loading in the digital instrument cluster. The glitch was in the U35.25 software. I have attached the notes from my dealership along with the STAR Case# and screen shot of T27.46 software.

If anyone has photos and clips of the issues. Send them to me on my google share drive. You can even talk and describe the issue so Ram knows exactly what is wrong if you want

Honestly, I love Tim from everything I hear about him and see him say and do. I wish the industry had more guys like him today. But if RAM really cares, they can just take a look at the threads here on this site. People have already posted and documented here ad nauseum. RAM's own rep here has posted many times with hollow promises.

Once or twice a month, my screen/uconnect just never turns on. This morning was a bit different, though... Started the truck and the screen loaded normally, but when I hit "media" it went black, restarted and hung up at the loading screen. Eventually the "home screen" came up, but all of the boxes showed loading and it was missing the top section (climate temps/control, outdoor temp, etc) and the bottom section (the menu buttons). Somehow it still connected to my car play, but the screen bounced up and down about 1" (making up for the gap where the menu/buttons are supposed to be) every 2 seconds. Lots of fun!

You can’t switch modes or have no ability to use custom mode. You can change modes via the mode button but when you go to custom it isn’t your custom setting. It’s really just auto mode. When you try to change modes via the Uconnect screen and change or modify your custom settings, it won’t take any inputs or changes. Also on the screen if you change modes, say to sport mode it will change for a second and revert back to auto on the screen but on the dash it will still stay in sport. This can be a safety issue if someone changes it to sport or Baja and it reverts back to auto mode on the screen people might think they’re in auto when in fact they aren’t and have turned off traction control.
During this update I was out of state and lost Apple CarPlay and maps. I had to turn off CarPlay and disable my Bluetooth so I could use the maps on my phone. Not fun when you’re 7hrs away from home. My maps and CarPlay di eventually come back a couple days later.
Uconnect fucked up something that worked fine before the over the air updates. It never was perfect.
It also looses your gauge pages and now it only has one page instead of two.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ps. Sorry for my sentence structure. Typing at red lights.
Seconding this. Huge issues with UConnect. Once the update came and made it the "RHO" version:
- my iphone constantly loses connection
- my pages will freeze and require multiple restarts to work again (usually having to turn the truck completely off)
- the software will get hung up trying to load the apps and then constantly readjust the screen size like it's figuring out if it's a bigger or smaller screen
- Custom mode is no longer custom - it will reflect my selections, but show "Auto". Also lost the ability for rock and other options in steering etc.

It's damn annoying - not to mention my replaced dash and rear main seal replacement. So much so, that I'm considering trading out of Ram altogether into something different, maybe a fully loaded F150 Limited with a lift/tires & wheels or Raptor (I plan to get a sports/supercar this year so not as concerned with keeping the TRX)

So after this weekend I'm pretty much convinced that some of the issues I'm having have to do with Android Auto. I started getting the frozen screen followed by loud buzzing then black screen reset like others. What I did notice it seemed to happen every 3rd or 4th start up and about the time AA was connecting.
Then that seemed to magically stop for the most part, but I would get the below message like every 20 to 30 seconds and AA would not connect. I restarted my phone and AA connected with no message.
So over the weekend I decided to remove the phone from the truck and delete AA, reinstall with updates and start the connection from scratch like the 1st time (wired to truck). Well now AA connects wirelessly, unfortunately now I have ad box at the top of the screen again...lol. Fortunately I did not get any ad pop ups, just the box at the top of the screen, there has to be a connection here somewhere!

Here's an idea for Stellantis....scrap the entire Uconnect system, send the programmers back to Radio Shack, hire competent programmers, design a reliable system, push out reliable system.

Stellantis is actually hiring thousands of engineers again. Tavares canned most of them in favor of cheaper engineers from Brazil and India. So hopefully a lot of these software issues get resolved quicker.

I have this list from the 68 pages. I'm going to talk to some execs and Kuniskis about these issues if someone wants to look it over

August 2024

  • Degraded Performance Pages UI: The update replaced the original interface with smaller, off-center icons that owners found visually inferior to the factory software.
  • Startup Error: A persistent "Uconnect error" message began appearing on the screen every time the truck was turned on.

April – May 2025

  • Incorrect Vehicle Graphics: The screen began displaying a 6-cylinder "RHO" or Hurricane engine image instead of the TRX's Hellcat V8.
  • Broken Drive Modes: Custom drive modes visually reverted to "Auto" on the screen, and the physical TRX button stopped functioning properly.
  • Volume Knob Lag: The radio volume would go haywire, taking 10 to 15 seconds to respond to physical knob turns.
  • CarPlay Disconnects: Apple CarPlay started dropping randomly, forcing users to completely remove and re-pair their phones to the truck.
  • Persistent Widgets: Alexa widget apps refused to disappear from the home screen even after being deselected as favorites.
  • Climate Graphic Glitch: The steering wheel heater icon displayed three bars on the main screen but only one bar on the shortcut menu.

August 2025

  • Missing Gauge Pages: The second page of digital gauges completely disappeared, requiring multiple manual radio resets to get it to load.
  • Incorrect HP & Torque Limits: The power graphs capped horsepower at 500 or 520 instead of 702, and torque randomly displayed in Newton Meters instead of Ft-lbs.
  • Wrong Supercharger Icons: A turbocharger icon replaced the supercharger icon on the boost gauge, and a random "screw" icon appeared on the I/C coolant gauge.
  • Graph Scale Errors: The power and torque graph scales shrunk from 1500 down to 750 or 850, making them visually inaccurate for the truck's output.
  • RPM Tracker Failure: The gear tracker on the RPM recording graph became inconsistent and failed to track gear changes.
  • Audio Output Bugs: The radio would glitch and occasionally only play audio out of the front center channel speaker.
  • Lethargic AC Controls: The climate control system began putting out very low air unless the temperature was manually cranked down below 70 degrees.
  • Apple Music Stutter: CarPlay audio specifically using Apple Music started cutting out for a split second during almost every drive.

October – November 2025

  • Piercing Audio Freeze: The Uconnect system began locking up entirely while emitting a loud, continuous beep through all speakers until the ignition was turned off.
  • Forced Cluster Navigation: Apple CarPlay directions became permanently stuck in the digital gauge cluster, overriding the driver's preferred media displays.
  • Infinite Loading Screens: Accessing the Performance Pages resulted in a continuous spinning circle or an immediate crash back to the CarPlay interface.

January – February 2026

  • Black Screen Crashes: The screen started going completely black while driving, removing all access to HVAC, defrost, and seat controls.
  • Loss of Backup Camera: Because of the frequent black screens, drivers lost all access to the federally mandated rear-view camera when shifting into reverse.
  • Random Reboots: The entire infotainment center began spontaneously shutting down and rebooting itself while the truck was in motion.
  • HUD Downgrades: The Heads Up Display (HUD) became glitchy, and the fonts and gauges were noticeably smaller and harder to read.
I've have several of these problems come and go over the past 2 years on my 2022 L2. The one that is most consistent, and still there today, are my digital gauges keep freezing up. I've learned just to reboot the system to get them to come back but sometimes that takes 3 or 4 reboots. It rarely last more than an hour or so before they freeze up again. Drive mode are messed up too, so much so that I quit trying to use them months ago. Graphics are FUBAR'd too but I really don't care about that.

All manufactures have problems but they get them fixed in a timely manner. RAM should compensate all of us having these problems for so long. Either cash back or a discount coupon for a future purchase. Anything less just proves to me that they really don't care.

I'm so glad Tavares is gone.

This is a new surprise. CarPlay not connected but shows CarPlay is connected at bottom of the task bar. Also this warning popped up with a special “ding”. Looks like connect wants to interrupt whatever you have going to post a warning. That warning was a police car and an old car crash that was already on the side of the road. Cuz these are the features we want.

In case some of you new guys don't know, I am Buter Da Insider on Youtube. Other than leaking internal information of vehicles coming from Stellantis, I also help people get their vehicles fixed. I made a bunch of videos exposing a problem and then ultimately that got the issues resolved after the customer spent months with an issue they couldn't get resolved.

I now have my own private email with Stellantis to bring to their attention extreme cases of customer issues with their vehicles and I've had a few of you guys tag me about issues with the Uconnect that has persisted for years. I don't know what all issues are going on with the radios but I would like for you guys to give me a list with any photos and videos. I will also be meeting up with Ram in a few weeks and I will also talk to them personally to help get these issues resolved.

Please share all photos and clips to my google share drive. You'll be able to send me photos and clips at full quality for me to share with Ram

1: Apple Carplay wont stay connected. Randomly cuts in and out when it is connect.

2: Screens all freeze and crash.

3: Nav on dash goes blank.

4: HUD goes blank or fades away

See my files.

I have alot more on my phone and not in the folder.

Truck is in warranty and RAM has no fixes or compensation for months wasted.

Mine has been saying it has to go back to the dealer for service for last year and a half and I’ve just been hitting the OK button. However, now the whole screen goes blank and I can’t control the heating radio or anything else for that matter. Brought it in for service and they said Dodge knows about it and they’re working on a fix but it could be the second or third quarter. Total BS! I can’t even turn my F’n heat on and it’s 46 out! 100k should have been more like 50k

I feel ya brother. I am beyond disappointed for over a 100k truck. It would be different if Ram acknowledged it and apologized and gave us some sort of loyalty perk for dealing with this. They have no respect from me as of now and Ill never get another one of thier trucks. They should just increase the warranty to the 100,000 miles like they did on the all the new vehicles give us free all connected services and maybe some sort of free choice aftermarket add-on selection for our truck. Then I can look past their flaws and lack of accountability.

I love the truck but this U Connect crap has been on going forever and then when my Rotora big brake set up failed and they told me that’s normal and I should be rebuilding them every three years after spending 5800 on brakes that sent me over the edge. I’m planning on ordering a CTSV Black Wing for next spring and find a used diesel for towing my trailer if I can’t get this thing fixed before next spring.

I mean… the Rotora issue was kinda your own fault not the trucks 😂

The ct5 BW is pretty nice. I have considered one of those with the manual for a fun car.

What the shit?!?! Seriously? i haven't followed the rotora issues but that is nuts

I used to get that message everyday. When I was working at the plant because they had road construction that blocked off a lane really sharply. I think it is normal.

I went from a 22 TRX to a 25 RHO temporarily while I wait for the 27's to come out. I had/have similar issues with the UConnect 5 system on both platforms. Wireless Apple Carplay will drop due to what I believe may be interference as it happens in the same location and is reproduceable. I use my truck as my daily driver and travel a lot so this becomes annoying dropping several times throughout a trip.

I have also noticed the screen can become uncomfortably hot after Carplay has been connected for a while. Maybe this is causing an overheating issue and dropping the connection? This is a different issue from above interference.

Another issue I have found is when the screen pops up an alert like a stalled vehicle or other hazard it takes over audio from my Carplay and I have to change media sources and go back to Carplay to get sound back.

Finally, a request would be for the vehicle to retain the last drive mode selected and not go to Auto after a restart. Some of us would like our vehicles to stay in sport or custom mode without having to select it each time we get in the vehicle.
Auto folding mirrors would be nice also.
Sure this can be done with the Tazer device but these features should really be standard.

Good morning everyone,
We have officially launched the app-over-the-air (AOTA) update to fix the MY22-24 TRX graphics issues from last April. This will include the HP gauge inaccuracies and other screen sizing issues, along with correction to the TRX graphics from the incorrect RHO graphics.

As is our policy, the launch occurs with a small group to start, and we will continue to build to the full affected population over the next two to three weeks (subject to change). Additionally, a reminder that AOTA updates are 'silent' and there is no prompt on the radio screen. The changes will be noticeable, once completed, when the vehicle is started.

We are not able to immediately predict when each VIN will receive the update, BUT we will keep you informed as we roll out more updates to more VINs and if we can provide more specific timing guarantees.
