Warning lights and new battery

this thread def doesn’t make a great case for buying an antigravity battery (I’m saving up for one).

I should say lithium battery in general, not specific to antigravity

The module to left of the battery, mounted vertically, is the PCM.
Okay thank you very much. It has two plugs into it, and I unplugged both in hopes of resetting something.

Thanks again,

Larry

Thank you so much for this information! Finally got around to testing for a draw. It's only about 2.5 to 3 milliamps so that's normal from everything I read.

There's no way it's that low. Did you mean 25 to 30? 0.025A is 25mA, not 2.5mA. Typical IOD (ignition off draw) loads, on any modern vehicle, once all modules go to sleep, is anywhere from 10mA to 50mA. I've never seen less than about 20mA on any 5th Gen Ram.

Then I noticed that the dash lights all stayed on despite shutting engine off, closing driver's door and pressing lock button on FOB. It appears they weren't going to go off.
Do you by chance have a Tazer installed on the truck? If not, are you the original owner?

No Tazer installed. I'm technically 2nd owner. Older man bought it new and it was too much for him. I got it at 40 miles. Has a little over 1000 miles now.

I thought that was a low draw at 2.5M also but I swear that's what it read. Maybe because there are issues right now and certain things are shut down?

I haven't forgotten to update this thread when I get a solution. I FINALLY made appointment to leave it at local dealership for service and will advise when fixed(y)

Update: FINALLY got it to the dealership. I even got to speak to the mechanic who will be working on it, and it made me feel better because he was nice, articulate, and seemed to really know his business. He said this issue is not uncommon, but also said they "these trucks really don't have a lot of issues". They called a couple hours later and stated it was the transmission valve body and it would probably be 3 to four days.

Happy it’s something that can be addressed. Good luck sir.

I wonder.....has a dealership EVER told someone their vehicle would be ready on a particular day or couple of days (such as the end of the week on a Monday for example) and actually had it ready then?????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Specifically what is your concern?

I think there's a lot of fear for the unknown and I understand that.

We had dropped off our jeep grand cherokee on a tuesday and told it wouldn't be ready til the following thursday, they called us Friday afternoon the same week we dropped it off and said it was ready

I've never left a vehicle in the hands of a dealership, which has saved me time, money, and apparently a strong likelihood of grief.

Now, if I was a gambling man I could've used all the "free" oil changes that came with various vehicles, but I prefer using the correct oil and a filter of my choice. Although, I wouldn't be concerned with them breaking the oil cooler.

First they would have to know it has one, and then also that it has a drain plug.

It was under warranty. The ac had quit working in the texas summer heat. Pretty much got a complete new ac system for the price of the $100 deductible

I'd probably stop driving it until winter so the A/C wouldn't be needed, or move to a less hot place.

Although, seriously, if it's something I couldn't fix myself or that would be prohibitively expensive, like an engine, a dealer visit might be an option. Guess I'm lucky in that a working A/C isn't essential to me.

It's the wife's car, and family vehicle, and its all blacked out. So when it's 100 plus degrees out, she kinda needs ac. I can do without, but her and the kids, not so much.
And even in the winter, in the event it actually dropped below 75 degrees, it wouldn't last very long lol

Ouch. I pretty much stop functioning correctly when it gets above 80. And many would claim that I don't even when it's cooler.

Maybe lucky here, but my dealership is pretty solid. They always have our cars ready on time. I am sure being close to a couple people there helps and they periodically get free drinks at the bar is a huge bonus.

Yeah, I'm just a little frustrated. The biggest issue I have is that it's sitting baking in the hot Florida Sun which really bugs me.

He did offer me a rental without hesitation. If it's not ready by Tuesday I'm going to take him up on it.

I only leave a vehicle with a dealership when absolutely necessary. It needs ABS recall done and it's under warranty and many codes, and supposedly needs new valve body, so I feel like I really don't have another reasonable choice.

I always tell non-car guy friends to forget about the free oil changes. Who knows what oil and filter they actually used (if they even do it) and if they let all the oil drain out etc.
