UPDATE: NOT SOLVED: Anybody know what this mystery fluid is??

@FULLTHROTTLERICK - any update on this? I've got what looks to be a rear main leak as well. 2022 with 32k miles. Have you taken it to a dealer yet?

Dang man im sorry to hear that! We havent brought it in yet as we're waiting for it to re-start again. We cleaned it up after changing the engine oil and are waiting for some new fluid to show up (so we can hopefully confirm whether it's motor oil or tranny). Problem is the short drives i do during the week aren't enough to get it going again. Might have to wait till after the next run or longer drive

Gotcha. Yeah, the dealer changed the oil around 31k miles right before I bought it, I drove it about 2 hours home from there, and also did another couple hundred miles drive the next weekend. Safe to say it’s probably a leak sadly. Wonder if the dealer will tell me to wipe it off and keep an eye on it as well

Just dont tell them you've offroaded anywhere b/c they'll tell u it's probably just mud or dirty water :ROFLMAO:

Keep us posted on how you make out and i'll do the same!

Haha that’s right - haven’t even gotten a chance to have some fun with it yet, only had it a couple weeks and want to get all the warranty work I can out of the way if needed 😂
I’ll keep yall posted

Best advice is to enjoy it now man. You're not losing much oil outta that seal i promise you and if there's something on its last legs, I'd rather blow it up now then after the 36k B2B. Chances are you'll be fine but I plan on getting a new tranny before my powertrain warranty is up 😂

This is the kind of philosophy I’m talking about! Going to drive the hell out of it after anyways

I said "SOLVED" but the new seal is now leaking worse than the old one lol. Mystery = solved. Problem = ongoing

Hate to break it to you, but that's NOT the cause of your issues. That's just a loose bellhousing bolt, holding the bell housing of the transmission to the engine. That's NOT a sealing surface. The new seal is still leaking - the fact the the bellhousing was not sitting flush with the engine just let you see the leaking oil easier. The job needs to be done again, with a new seal - PROPERLY installed this time, preferably by someone who's not a complete moron and is rushing through the job to beat the flat-rate time.

Wow that’s insane. This was the dealership!?!
Yeah, my A-tech guy over there Mistakenly thought his minion tech (that had shadowed him several times with success) would be independently successful, and that couldn’t be farther from the truth.

Thats really good to know man thanks! Theyre putting a new seal in next week. I’m curious what your take is on the stripped threads for that one bolt? What would be the realistic preferred method of handling that? Re-tapping threads?Heli coil? New block lolol?

Here’s the bright side, everybody! I never have to change my engine oil again because as I continue to add new oil, the old thinning oil just weeps out the bottom 🤣🤣

I'm glad you at least know the cause and will be able to get it repaired (again).

Hey, I'm super curious if you checked your mileage in/mileage out?

I didn't see stripped threads - I saw a stripped-out Torx head on a bolt... I normally just cut a slot in the head w/ a Dremel, turn it out with a big fathead screwdriver, and get a new bolt. This was the black bolt in your 2nd video. Did I miss something on the other two hex-head bellhousing bolts? I thought they were just never tightened? If the threads in the block really were stripped out, then yeah - Helicoil (or similar) is the method used to fix that - not a big deal.

Yea at the top of the bell housing area - that bolt that was threaded in like 2 threads was cross-threaded 🤯

Mileage in/out was within 2-3 miles. I was right at 46997 or 46998 at drop off and it didn't turn 47k until i drove it home
