TRX vs Raptor R Comparison. . .

I called our Ford dealer we have used for years. Asked about ordering the new Raptor R. He says "we have 10k deposits on all of our 21 trucks we were allotted, we are selling them 20k above MSRP. 135,000". I called and ordered a TRX.

Smart move! Ford obviously doesn't give a shit about keeping customers. I'm glad we have the TRX as an option as it is everything the Gen 1 Raptor was but better in every way!

Yes, but where is the weenie? I am so confused.

I did the same...even convinced my father-in-law along the way🤣

Did someone forget to leave out:

RaptorR == Still rocking that stupidly ridiculous hood antenna
TRX == Modern technological shark fin antenna 🙌

I think he means Ford is doing some "weenie" measuring with the TRX but is "hiding the weenie" as opposed to being transparent and open.

I walked into a Ford dealership because they have exactly the Explorer ST I was looking at for the wife.
58k advertised price online. Xplan through work plus trade in her dinosaur of an SUV I was expecting to drive it home.

Nope.
7k adm and wouldn't honor the xplan.
When asked what I wanted for trade in I said 20k (really only wanted 6-7).

Ford dealers can shove it. All of them.
The Raptor R isn't 9k better than a loaded TRX. Only thing it has going for it is "exclusive"
But it looks like all the other Gen 3 Raptors so how exclusive is it really?

Looks like a beefed up Lariat with crap interior. No creativity. A lot of the interior concepts were stolen from the TRX and dumped in the Raptor R. You can tell by the carbon fiber trim inside the truck.

Also, quality control with Ford’s is garbage. The leather is paper thin and cheap. The leather in the TRX is thick and heavy; will last a lifetime.

I stay away from Ford for a reason. And their customer service is garbage.

I've tried to buy a new Ford 7 times now.
Gen 1 Raptor (twice) - Bought a Ram 1500 then a TRX.
Mustang GT
GT350
Focus RS
Bronco and Bronco Raptor (same reserve no Bronco - ended up with another Jeep)
Explorer ST - there are million of these things on the road. How is there a markup? Dealership had at least 5 in their inventory. WTF?

Every time there was a markup.
Every time there was a run around or games to be played. I really wonder if people put up with this shit or if I'm just not supposed to have a Ford.

Ford dealers are really trying to make corporate Ford get rid of the dealer network. When I was trying to sell my Focus RS I went to the local Ford dealer to see if they wanted to buy it outright. The guy literally told me that there wasn't a market for that kind of car in our area. I looked out on the lot and saw only used 20-30 cars there (2021 when no one had new inventory). Dude was really nice so I left and sold to CarMax 15 minutes away. The RS never made it on the lot before being sold at CarMax but there was no market.

The craziest part is that the Lincoln dealer that is literally next to that Ford dealer has Focus St's and RS's all the time and they sell quick. Along with a lot of other performance cars.

The sales manager tried striking up a conversation with me about my Jeep.

I said I bought that because after a year, i was tired of waiting on Ford to build me a Bronco. Then when I got emailed about a Raptor opportunity I jumped on it. Only to be told that again, I wasn't picked to have one. (and dealers adding 10-20k on top that buyers had to either pay or forfeit their spot in line).

Then for good measure I said my wife saw a Focus RS at a local auto show. Dealer had another one on the lot. She fell in love and was willing to pay sticker.
Dealer tacked on 20k. She was out. Never looked at them again. She drove a VW GLI at the time and was ready to upgrade.

The only thing Ford Corporate did right was keep the GT out of the dealer's hands. Im sure that had to piss off the dealer network.

I know, sarcasm gets lost in text.

No matter how much HP there is in the raptor r - I can't put up with its terrible interior, it looks outdated. The TRX has it all - looks, cool styling, and a modern interior!

They definitely left out this one:

TRX Base Price: $78,790
Raptor Base Price: $109,145

Personally, less than 2 inches of additional ground clearance and a few hundred pounds in weight savings just doesn't do it for me.
Or better yet, Average MSRP markup. $10k vs $40k

The FUNNIEST part of Ford alienating their buyers is the nonsense from the Ford CEO, stating if the dealerships get caught charging "unreasonable" markups they will lose part/all of their allocation of EVs............????????? Dealerships could care less about EV sales!

Here is the math: 2021 total Ford sales = 1.9 million vehicles.
2022 total (est) Ford EV sales = 55,000 (whah whah whah)

Ford = desperately trying to make it "look" like they care about customers. What a scam from the CEO!
