TRX Mammoth on Cars & Bids - opinions appreciated

Didn't TFL race the Mammoth 1000 and a stock TRX and the difference was almost nothing?

Edit:

Just my 2 cents but if I was dropping that kind of money....Id take the 1100whp e85 race build. Based on the non-biased video above...the distance difference isn't even the most disappointing. The trap speed difference between two trucks was like 1mph....so the modded one wasn't even really pulling away any.

Yup. Just shows that Hennessy’s tuning capabilities are trash so they don’t ever realize the advertised 300hp gain in the real world. Their mod package should net them some decent power, even on pump gas, but obviously they don’t know how to tune their own shit.

*Editing this so it's not so harsh. I'm sure a lot of other TRX forum members have also owned Vipers. Hennessey did not have a good reputation in the Viper community, to put it mildly. I personally don't follow them any more due to what I saw with the Vipers they worked on. Hopefully that has changed though.
It get that. On a positive note, Hennessey hasn't worked on Vipers in many years. And it has changed.

Hi @Michael H. i hate to tell you how to do your job, but let me just say that getting defensive in this forum isn’t going to get you very far… this group smells blood in the water from miles away. If you want to change perceptions, you’re gonna be hard pressed to do it, simply by challenging whether they have had first hand experience or not.

Rumors about poor quality, bad customer service, questionable warranty coverage all aside (I will ignore all of these for the sake of this discussion, because as you have put it, they are from third hand anecdotes), there are major questions about value, as well as the veracity of the HP claims your firm makes.

This group of TRX enthusiasts especially, are highly knowledgeable about what can be achieved with various mods, and through expert tuning. There is nothing wrong with leveraging parts and produced by others and slapping your name on them, but don’t be foolish enough to think that this group isn’t acutely aware of where those parts originate from, and what those cost installed through other avenues.

When comments are made like by a mammoth and get 20k worth of modifications, and 30k worth of Hennessy stickers and embroidery, that comes from expert knowledge of the market pricing for those mods, installation, and even the warranty. As far as the veracity of the 1000 HP claims, there’s enough data on this forum, YouTube, etc to show that a mammoth has struggled to compete (on a drag strip) with the times produced by TRXs with dyno verified power and torque numbers that are far less then those you advertise.

All of this is before we get into weather engine stability can even be achieved with a 1000+ CHP TRX on pump gas. (I’ll let @AZDinoPwr comment more on this, as he is one of our resident experts)

Anyway with all of this said, I guess my point is, you have an uphill climb. I think that your steadfast belief in the value prop of your firm, is admirable, but, you have your work cut out for you in painting a picture of value among many members of this group. Picking fights by questioning first hand knowledge isn’t going to help your cause.

Just my $0.02.
Thanks for your frank comments. Note that I am not trying to get defensive (and I have yet to pick a fight), rather I am trying to get a better understanding about the poor public perception of the company I work for. (I own '23 TRX, paid for it myself, and I'm in here waving a white flag of truce.)

Hennessey isn't for everyone, much like a Hermès bag or Rolex chronograph isn't for everyone either. There's also an argument that every Shelby, Dinan, Singer, etc... is a waste of money, especially for enthusiasts who are able to wrench.

Yet there are a great number of clients who are seeking a turn-key horsepower upgrade with a warranty... and we've got a backlog of orders to prove it. And, we now have a full team dedicated to engineering and customer support (something we haven't had in the past). Hennessey is a VERY DIFFERENT company from how it existed just five years ago. If someone has an issue today, or at any point moving forward, they can reach out to me personally and I will make sure it is rectified.

I am aware of the shitshow of the past, and the frustration some customers felt, so I don't expect to change a single opinion about Hennessey. I simply want to put an end to those repeating rumors from the past, as it makes my job a real PITA. ;)

Did you really compare Hennessey to Rolex, Shelby, Singer, etc???? The hubris of that comment is mind blowing.

They're also not rumors, they're facts. Hennessey ripped off people that trusted him to enhance their cars. He stole from them and lied to them. Then lied about stealing from them. You can waive your white flag all you want, but posts like this one really reinforces how much you just don't get it.

Mike,

First rule of communication is know your audience. Posting on a MOPAR enthusiast forum that your brand of mods is the equivalent of materialistic luxury brand items is like telling farmers they could never afford your Porsche (while they buy a single tractor worth more than your house). You’re way out of touch with this community. The group of people you want are the Instagram wannabe influencers and the quick millionaires with more dollars than sense. You aren’t going to find them here because this group doesn’t tolerate folks who haven’t truly “earned” things in their life. A viral vid on YouTube or being a trust fund baby is a quick way to go broke when you never had to learn the value of making the money to begin with. And those folks do go broke buying products like yours as we see them listed on eBay regularly. 90% of this forum is here to figure out how to mod their trucks wisely rather than blindly…and blindly is what is required for someone to use Hennessy.

If buying a Hennessy Mammoth wasn’t expensive enough, try buying one from one from a dealership. I will admit that when I saw it in person, I almost bit. It’s a beautiful truck but that price of $198K (thats discounted from the dealership BTW 😂) is ridiculous. Even worse was them posting the dyno numbers on the truck. The Mammoth 1000 isn’t giving you 1000whp more like around 760 at the tires. It doesn’t justify the price and let’s not get into the warranty issues. The dealership says it has to go through Hennessy and their warranty. I also did notice some minor blemishes on the Hennessy graphics that should not have happen to a $200K truck but thats just me knit picking. If anyone is interested there is a Night edge Blue and Harvest sunrise here in Tampa. They are beautiful trucks.

And I think this qualifies as first hand experience. 🤣 Also I believe the cost is $50k if I’m not mistaken. Pretty sure you can replace a blown motor for much less… so that takes the “value of the warranty” out of the financial equation. 😅
Semper Fi, my brother!

I'm honestly shocked by you asking why anyone would stay clear of his shop. This isn't some closely guarded secret and has been known facts for a few decades now. He stole money from customers and parted out cars he was entrusted with modifying. He also way overcharges for the service he offers. Like he forgot his name is a synonym for robbery and atrocious business practices. But hey, that's capitalism and I can't argue with people willing to pay their money for a product or service.

To anyone outside of rich a-holes with more money than sense, Hennessey is a joke. But hey, luckily for y'all the world isn't running out of rich a-holes anytime s

I left Hennessey at the end of February.

That the day you put your notice in?

Pretty close.

Additional horsepower is meaningless if you replace stock 35" tires with 37" tires, replace stock 18" wheels with heavy 20" wheels, and then replace stock bumpers (front and rear) with heavy steel bumpers. The added mass, increased unsprung weight, and larger tires negate any gains.

To be fair, they also don’t know how to tune.

So you’re saying this is all staged then, correct?
