TRX Mammoth on Cars & Bids - opinions appreciated

Don’t sleep on the 21’s uconnect is super stable works every time even with apple car play enough though it’s not wireless. I’ve had my truck since Jan 2021 the only issue was the clunk it since has been taken care currently have 25k miles with no other issue change the oil and tire rotation every 5k miles.

G
How did you fix the clunk and how long has it been? Thanks

Thanks for the detail - didn't know about these differences between 21 & 22. Makes the 23 most appealing given the number of upgrades.
To be honest, I think the 2023 is a slight bit of a downgrade from the 2022 (a few missing components). And given the price increase from 2022 to 2023, that makes the 2022 model even better.

Hi all - new to the TRX forums; I'm currently shopping for a 2023. I have a 2020 Charger SRT Hellcat and would love to upgrade this to something more off-road capable with a similar profile of performance & experience.

It looks like there is a 2021 Hennessey Mammoth 1000 TRX currently on Cars & Bids. I'm seriously considering a bid on this vehicle. Does the community have any particular opinions / feelings on the Hennessey built TRX?

Edit: a word
Why not just buy mine instead and blow that Mammoth out of the water? (with less miles and for less money too) 🤷‍♂️

Bulletproof 426 Stroker and one of the few TRX's capable of 9's. 10's on 37 A/T's.

Dude that truck is pure sex on wheels!! Love it!
Yeah, thanks man. I love it and literally cannot go anywhere without getting compliments and people wanting to talk to me about it. My wife is always telling me to not get a big head, lol. The sound of the truck just adds to the whole experience. Honestly sad to even think about parting ways with it, but it's more important to me to provide opportunities for my son.

I totally understand your reasoning 100%. I hope a forum member buys it so it can still "stay in the family" so to speak. I read your link and that thing is like the perfect build for a street truck (my kinda style) and I can just imagine how much fun it is to drive.

I'm hoping to be the same...I've had 2 potential buyers contact me about switching the truck back to 93 when it was built for E85 and I had to tell them to kick rocks for wanting to neuter the truck.

Yeah you guys are lucky down there, we don't have E85 up here in Ontario so we're restricted on modding/tuning. I think there's one or two places in BC that still sell E85 but that's it as far as I know.

THIS…is a truck you should stay away from.

I'd stay far away from anything Hennessey.
Why?

I'm VP of Marketing at Hennessey, and I am curious about your first-hand experience with us.

Ucconnect 5 is more capable but I don’t think UC4 in a 2021 should be a deal-breaker for most people. It’s super stable and everything works 100%. I’ve never had one single glitch in 15,000 miles. Pretty impressive if you ask me. I also didn’t buy a TRX for the screen though.
I've got a 2021 and a 2022 - I'm happy to plug in with the 2021 - wife likes the wireless - for what i do with it i can't tell the difference except the plug-in

*Editing this so it's not so harsh. I'm sure a lot of other TRX forum members have also owned Vipers. Hennessey did not have a good reputation in the Viper community, to put it mildly. I personally don't follow them any more due to what I saw with the Vipers they worked on. Hopefully that has changed though.

Hi @Michael H. i hate to tell you how to do your job, but let me just say that getting defensive in this forum isn’t going to get you very far… this group smells blood in the water from miles away. If you want to change perceptions, you’re gonna be hard pressed to do it, simply by challenging whether they have had first hand experience or not.

Rumors about poor quality, bad customer service, questionable warranty coverage all aside (I will ignore all of these for the sake of this discussion, because as you have put it, they are from third hand anecdotes), there are major questions about value, as well as the veracity of the HP claims your firm makes.

This group of TRX enthusiasts especially, are highly knowledgeable about what can be achieved with various mods, and through expert tuning. There is nothing wrong with leveraging parts and produced by others and slapping your name on them, but don’t be foolish enough to think that this group isn’t acutely aware of where those parts originate from, and what those cost installed through other avenues.

When comments are made like by a mammoth and get 20k worth of modifications, and 30k worth of Hennessy stickers and embroidery, that comes from expert knowledge of the market pricing for those mods, installation, and even the warranty. As far as the veracity of the 1000 HP claims, there’s enough data on this forum, YouTube, etc to show that a mammoth has struggled to compete (on a drag strip) with the times produced by TRXs with dyno verified power and torque numbers that are far less then those you advertise.

All of this is before we get into weather engine stability can even be achieved with a 1000+ CHP TRX on pump gas. (I’ll let @AZDinoPwr comment more on this, as he is one of our resident experts)

Anyway with all of this said, I guess my point is, you have an uphill climb. I think that your steadfast belief in the value prop of your firm, is admirable, but, you have your work cut out for you in painting a picture of value among many members of this group. Picking fights by questioning first hand knowledge isn’t going to help your cause.

Just my $0.02.

I'm honestly shocked by you asking why anyone would stay clear of his shop. This isn't some closely guarded secret and has been known facts for a few decades now. He stole money from customers and parted out cars he was entrusted with modifying. He also way overcharges for the service he offers. Like he forgot his name is a synonym for robbery and atrocious business practices. But hey, that's capitalism and I can't argue with people willing to pay their money for a product or service.

To anyone outside of rich a-holes with more money than sense, Hennessey is a joke. But hey, luckily for y'all the world isn't running out of rich a-holes anytime soon.

I’m not going to venture into discussing theory with their employee because I doubt it will go anywhere. What I will say is that my 900 hp TRX gapped the Mammoth 1000 in my neighborhood. The proof is in the pudding. I have $6k into my truck including tuning from one of the top MOPAR tuners in the world. So compare that to whatever cost Hennessy is charging nowadays.

Well this covers the piece I avoided. 🤣

And I think this qualifies as first hand experience. 🤣 Also I believe the cost is $50k if I’m not mistaken. Pretty sure you can replace a blown motor for much less… so that takes the “value of the warranty” out of the financial equation. 😅

If that’s the cost then yea you could have a reputable shop that would be willing to stand behind their work (and cover the cost of a blown motor as we have seen on this forum) do a fully built 426 install with the Gen V 3.0 whipple put 1000hp at the wheels for less money.
