TRX cold air intakes, looking for feedback on the different options out there, to narrow down my search.

So the s&b made a pound of boost more over the ripa intake? Does s&b feels bit quicker then?
over 100 mph it made 1 psi more, wasnt really noticable in my application. heads cam max effort 3.0 whipple on e85.

Just a heads up, Looked into to getting the S&B w/ dry filter and was told the dry filter is back ordered till July.

S&B here, love the increased blower whine. Either S&B or AFE to retain the factory ram / cold air.

Who mentioned that? We've got some on hand as well as S&B Shows plenty!

Have they ever actually needed to go to bat or successfully gone to bat? Empty promise until then in my opinion.
No dealer is going to void your warranty for an intake or exhaust, unless..........you cause other damage while installing said parts.

Dont drop the airbox support bolts into the blower and then start your truck !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tighten all the exhaust clamps, cuz if the pipe comes loose and punctures your fuel tank or wraps around you driveshaft.....you are on your own!!!!!!!!!!!!! :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Maybe all they have is oiled in stock and want to make the sale? Lol
Well… I’m now going to start looking at other shops. Some shops around here are less motivated to get you in (on the dyno) when you bring your own parts. But, If I can’t find what I want, I’ll hit you up and order from you. Thanks Nick.

I hear that all the time, I don’t blame them and I know how frustrating it can be in the middle of an install on something you didn’t sell and it’s missing something

FWIW, @ace32x did a comparison of airflow on the Ripa and S&B. The Ripa is the similar short ram (hot air) setup as JMB. Showed that S&B flowed better. Also nice having the water drainage built into the S&B. Personally running the S&B and no complaints.
Did he do a comparison? Or did he just make a post saying he did a comparison, and you just ate it up? Would love to see what he used and some actual data because on our end the dyno doesn't lie.

He’s a personal friend of mine with no dog in the fight when it comes to your company’s track record on this forum. No reason to lie. He had both intakes and did back to back runs in the real world instead of sitting on an dyno and provided the data. No I wasn’t sitting in his lap confirming that the numbers on the laptop were “real” if that is what you are saying. People I consider friends are trustworthy enough and have good enough reputations that I don’t need to do that to believe them.

I spent my day yesterday with family enjoying life rather than checking this forum so thankfully I didn’t re-engage in the shitshow in the chiller thread with your company’s desire to personally go after people. By all means, continue to attack me. I think that would be the 4th person on this forum I have seen Ripatuned get personal with in the last two years. I’m sure it’s great for your reputation.

Personal is people like you who make comments about a business you have never had any dealing with.....the problem with forums is people hide behind a screen name....those "haters" are nothing but rival shops or fans boys of such....when our customers come on here and talk about the positive experience they have had.people like YOU attack them.....like you have rob. I spend my Sundays with my family as well but my lively hood is important and when people send me the slanderous garbage that's spewed on here I have to back it up.

Back to your buddies lap top. You think we just made an intake and never tested it? This is a joke. We test everything we make on our own vehicles. No one in the industry has come close to us on being innovative. We make parts people put parts on there's a difference. You realize we build 100's of these trucks a year and you sit here and make comments about our builds like you have any experience dealing with us or our builds? Play victim all you want...you're just mad you're getting checked. And I call bullshit.

And thanks for the chiller post I sold 3 more last night 👍

Easy to narrow down ur search bc some of those are hot air intakes. The only cold air intakes im aware of are: S&B, AFE, and Cornerstone (or smthin like that). But the latter does not use the functional Ram air hood passages which IMO is where a good deal of cool air is coming.

S&B for me all the way. Very pleased
S&B or AFE may not be California legal ? Yet ?

Tony, I have been in the car community putting together builds, tuning and wrenching for twenty years. Been active on forums for close to that. In that time I have never come across a business with as many personal complaints as yours. That includes Hennessy.

My personal experience with Ripatuned has been helping people pull your squeaky poorly designed sleeve off here locally and about a half dozen forum members contacting me to discuss issues with tunes and performance after builds. I won’t even include my cancelled order for parts with you guys because that stuff just happens sometime but the communication and customer service was horrible. That doesn’t include simply digesting everyone’s else’s complaints on this forum and others too. It’s hard to believe that if you have put together hundreds of these TRX builds and all happy customers that we can’t get at least one more positive result on this forum than Rob.

As far as innovative, are you guys doing flex fuel tunes now finally? Figure out how to read data during a dyno to know your turbos we’re sucking exhaust (this is an easy one btw if you look at calculated CFM, AFR and then calculated fuel usage via pressure/duty cycle)? You tested your intake, I’m sure you did and I’m sure it performed fine for what you were looking for. I would hope since you claim it’s the highest flowing one out there that you bought every other intake and tested them all back to back with real world driving rather than the dyno that doesn’t provide any realistic ram effect from the scoop. If that’s the case then wouldn’t you post the pics/vids and data from doing that?

By all means, keep attacking… I’m sure you are winning clients. Btw no anger or hatred here at all for you guys. I’m not trying to support some rival or fanboy a shop. Just think when people ask for advice that are new they should get the good and bad about a shop to make their decision. You on the other hand appear to be very emotional.

I posted the cooler thread on FB and told a dude to avoid working with ripa and to do his homework based on everything I’ve read on here. Ripa tagged this dude and they both went off. I’ve never seen anything like it, but as a business owner, it was oddly defensive and destructive to a professional reputation. I don’t understand the science behind coolers, and I don’t really care. I just want to see the patent ripa applied for the incognito, and just like an ATF e form, I know they have a paper trail of that patent app if it exists. I don’t think companies would go so far out of their ways to make claims about ripa if it wasn’t true. You have two separate entities making similar claims. I’ve NEVER seen that with ANY other company, in any industry, ever. Have a blessed Monday friends.

Lets keep this thread on track and share our thoughts and feedback to help the OP pick an intake. Lets refrain from sharing our thoughts on other peoples thoughts to avoid unneeded tangents.

I think AFE and S&B are probably the best engineered intakes. I have installed/seen/heard both on friends trucks. The fit and finish is pretty solid. Good gains, good sound increase, and good weatherproofing/heat shielding.

My personal TRX landed with the CPS intake and love it. Has some thought put into heat shielding, reuses the hood inlets, and sounds really good.
