Transportation Chapman to California

We just actually became supporting members on Ram-TRX.com so we can now help answer questions people have on anything shipping related. These TRX trucks are quite large & wide and do tend to take a higher premium to move VS your regular 1500 size truck. They actually cost about the equivalent of moving say a 3/4 ton truck. After all the weight is quite similar (north of 6k lbs).

You also have to consider the fact that these transporters are not all created equal. Some are using brand new 100k Cottrell trailers while others are using 7k Kaufman wedges or EZ5's. The more a transporter has invested into their equipment also demonstrates a level of seriousness and professionalism. So for those and other reasons the prices can only be roughly estimated on the front end when your trying to quote moving these things. Some of it actually depends on your own level of accepted risk as well.

But we wanted to thank the other members who have found us on YT and used us to transport their truck. We are happy to answer any questions at all about the process from A to Z. We do realize it can be a nerve-wracking experience shipping something so pricey across the USA.

And per the last reply their by @Cromin8tor , yes you can track these trucks via a mobile app. Sometimes that is a good thing, other times it may make you paranoid if the transporter happens to be taking a nap at a rest area or a truck stop, or they happen to need an in-flight repair of something. But it does seem like the Ram App for this truck is far superior to air tags that only update here and there when they are in range of an iPhone, ( If I am not mistaken ) .

This is also a very good time (VS other times earlier in the year ) to move these things. The highest we saw them get (on the direct trucking rate - no fees from us or a broker) was around $2800-3000 from Horsham, PA or KY to the west coast - earlier this year. Currently they are probably running in the $1800-2400 ball park ( direct trucking rate ). So they are cheaper to move at the moment then they have been.

Most of the ones we have moved our clients including members of this forum paid around $2000-2500 (to the west coast) (Total all in price including our fee)

Anyway thanks to those who have used us and feel free to get an instantaneous quote from us online at https://airRyd.com

Looking for transportation of TRX from Chapman to Southern California (San Diego). Truck just hit the lot today so should be in the next couple of weeks.

Any recommendations on vendors? I know prices has been fluctuating lately due to gas prices but any feedback on how much you paid for a similar transport would be appreciate it.
This what I paid for transport from Countryside, IL to San Diego, CA
This was in April of 2022 and was your typical two level hauler and it took 7 days with holding it in a yard until the second driver picked it up and brought it to my house in San Bernardino California.

Anyway it showed up with no muss, no fuss, no dents, no scratches so I was happy!

I will say that the company that just posted the long text, seems reputable but they probably gonna need to refine their pricing a little bit.

Well you shipped your TRX out of Illinois. Illinois is probably one of the easiest states to move loads into or out of just simply due to the route tree. There is a good amount of trucks coming in and out of Chicago, so it makes moving loads easy.

If your talking about Horsham, PA or KY , your going a much further distance (if PA), and your basically competing with other high paying loads out of the northeast, like NJ, MD, NY, VA, NC, OH . Trucks coming out of the Northeast aren't going to swing through PA or KY or OH and take a lesser price for a load just because its a shorter distance. Rather, they'll simply grab higher paying freight out of the northeast and bypass loads in OH, KY, MO, IN etc. But a truck coming out of IL is not going to deadhead over to the northeast, so they are left with the very competitive loads out of IL, which drives down the prices coming out of that particular state.

The specific route a truck is trying to be moved on is probably the #1 factor in terms of pricing. More so then miles, distance, or even the type of vehicle honestly. Some routes are just far more popular / in demand and others see almost no interest from trucks.

How long does it usually take after booking a ready date for the companies to schedule a carrier to pickup our trucks? Im sure the holidays are affecting my pick up a lil bit but just curious how long it took you guys to get your truck on a transport truck. I will say the prompt communication so far with airryd has been very nice. You dont work with many companies that seem to pride themselves with great customer support.

Mone was able about 2 days. Travel time was around 3.5 days.

Used stopwatch

I personally like to drive it home. I did it when I bought my wrangler 392 from Chapman, and will do the same when my TRX lands at Dan Cummings. But I love a road trip. 😊
