FORD RAPTOR
I took delivery of a 2023 Granite, Level 2, highly optioned TRX w/Rambar about a month ago then left to Europe for about 3 weeks.

The "owner experience" so far has been limited to picking up the truck from the dealership (after almost 9 months of waiting to order/build), driving it home and parking inside the garage. Keys put away, locked in a safe, in a signal blocking case. It has not moved since then. Original full tank of gas since delivery with about 40 miles on the odometer. I paid MSRP for it.

Paranoid to drive the damn thing anywhere. This is no way to own a truck, or any vehicle. Strongly considered the Igla and/or Compustar for security against theft, but that's another 2-3 week wait and a $2,400.00 security investment on a new vehicle because the manufacturer seems to have designed them to be stolen. Insurance won't consider the added security systems (basically, a must have) as part of the replacement value or adjust rates accordingly.

I am one of those who lives in Houston and the situation regarding Owning a TRX in this location has me seriously second guessing this purchase. I've wanted to buy this truck for over two years, patiently waited for the opportunity, thoroughly planned certain options to add in anticipation of it being built and delivered only to find how discouraging it feels to now own it with the rampant vandalism and theft associated with this truck. I came from a 2018 Raptor and had none of this sort of headache.

Sorry for the rant, but this actually sucks to feel this way. Can't move outta here right now.

Anyone else?

At least the recent torched Havoc Yellow TRX turned out to be fraud and not more serious of an issue.

Do IGLA/ Compustar come with any window stickers alerting potential thieves that the truck will not start.., hence no real need to smash out the windows?

Couple options here,
1-Instal whatever security system you want and drive the damn thing
2-sell it

If you think you will constantly be worried about driving it and that will take away from your experience then that may answer your question. Any new vehicle can be stolen relatively easily, all it takes is the right computer program.
Judging by this page on houston stolen vehicles, its crazy no matter what vehicle you drive. Old minivans to Mclarens.

Install an IGLA and be worry free.

Also, plenty of cars are easy to steal, not just TRXs. TRXs are just in high demand, along with every other Hellcat vehicle out there.

Invest in the added security, the paranoia will be a lot less and you’ll enjoy the truck. I drive all over Houston. I’m very observant when I get out of the truck and when I’m walking up to the truck but other than that I don’t worry about it.

Compustar has a blue blinking led. I'm sure you could get a custom graphic shop to make you window stickers. I have igla and compustar and it's fully worth the money imo. Best of luck op.

You spent over $100k on a truck and now you’re thinking about selling it because you don’t want to spend $700 (cost of Ravelco, which I recommend) for some security? Pull your head out, get some security, and drive the truck around like you’ve been wanting to for the past 2 years!

Sorry for being blunt but it’s tough love. Sell it and you will probably be kicking yourself in a year or two when there’s no more chances to own one.

Don't do IGLA...save some money and know you have a simple solution to your theft worries, without that plug it ain't going anywhere. Revelco is the way to go and isn't as expensive.

$750 installed for a Ravelco, and they come to your house to install it. Includes sticker for your window to hopefully deter break-ins before they happen. They are a week or two out on scheduling right now (just had one installed on a new TRX last Thursday), but worth the wait. I've had them install 4 of them in the past year on TRXs, and they are worth the peace of mind for $750. Definitely something I get installed before feeling totally comfortable parking in Houston area.

Here’s my take. Get a good security system. And then to hell with family, friends, and employment. Texas is too damn big to live in Houston! LMAO 🤣

Don’t worry about the kids, making new friends builds character!

I can’t tell you what to do with your truck, but I think Ram or FCA should sustain a class action lawsuit over this security issue. My TRX was stolen and the alarm didn’t even go off.

auction values are really strong but since yours is LVL 2 loaded you may not be able to get MSRP. Pretty close though with <1,000 mi

I’m in NH. I don’t even have wheel locks on mine 🤡

Sorry man but some tough love here. Buying a truck like this and then not wanting to harden it security wise, is like buying a house and not wanting to put a lock on the front door because you “shouldn’t need to”

Only you are responsible for you. I’ve secured all my cars the same way I have the Trx (Ravelco and compustar, and other stuff) to respond to threats and I live in the country with like minded people.

That said, it’s not as much as RAMs fault for crap security as it is soft consequences for crime. Look at the competition, raptors, mustangs, broncos, they all get stolen, and in big numbers. Go read those forums. All have similar security features. (Subpar in comparison)

Vote with your wallet. Get your car secured, and then leave that shithole city.

KA-F’N-POW ! 💥👌

I've had my TRX for 15 months and 15k miles. I live in the state with the worst car theft rate in the country. Within 3 days of purchase I had a Ravelco and a Viper tilt/shock sensor installed at about $1k total. I couldn't be happier. Spend a bit of money and enjoy the beast.

I can tell you from first hand experience, cars get stolen in NH and wheels do too! Nashua, Manchester…hell my car was stolen in Salem (Mall at Rockingham Park) back in the mid 90s and found in Lawrence on blocks.

Do you not have insurance? 🤔

Drive hell out of the truck , you can't go around life worrying on what may or may not happen. I drive my trx everywhere it's a blast to drive and it brings a smile to my face . Get one of those alarm system and just enjoy it . This truck is beauty

Get a security system if you’re that concerned. It’s much too good of a truck to let sit. Life is way to short to worry about this kind of stuff. You’ve got insurance so enjoy the beast.

Just drive it and to hell with anything else. I park mine outside frequently and will even go into the grocery store to shop and leave the windows down if it’s a nice day. It’s just a truck…a fun truck but still just a truck.
