If I had my way, (and my bosses money), I'd just buy his 40' toterhome with 38' stacker trailer and haul ALL the toys everywhere. His toy box is a lot cooler than mine.
Thanks Elrodd, ill put it in my wife’s name.My only word of caution would be that if you're over any of your published limits, your insurance can deny paying anything on a claim, and the other party can also use that against you, etc., as I understand it. The legal and financial risks are too high for me to even risk 1 lb over. Especially if you own a business. This article does a pretty good job of explaining it and gives first-hand advice from attorney's etc.

Tow Ratings and the Law: Discussing the Limits of Trailer Size
Things to know about a tow rig’s limitations, and how they can affect personal safety and financial well-being. Tow Ratings and the Law.www.trucktrend.com
Hi I’m looking at a similar set up. Did you End up going this route and if so, how did it work out for you?![]()
it will be pushing the limit of the trucks tow capacity but I’m hoping it will be fine. I’ll use a load distribution hitch and hauling Dirtbikes which shouldn’t be too heavy. Any thoughts on this setup?
If you don’t mind me asking what size is your grand design and is it a toy hauler? I see this post was from a while ago do you care to share how the towing went this past summer? We have owned Grand Design Imagine 2800BH for several years now and absolutely love it. Don't think you can go wrong with any Grand Design trailer.
You are definitely going to be OVER the TRX payload capacity even with a heavy duty weight distribution hitch, especially by the time you get passengers inside the truck and anything else that you might carry in the truck cabin/bed.
My advice would be to make sure you get a heavy duty WDH, something rated 12k lbs or over and make sure you have the bars with chains as they will give you more quick adjustment capability of the tongue weight as you add/change whatever you decide to carry in the back of your toy hauler trailer.
Also, if you position your toys properly towards the back of the trailer and along with the WDH, you'll likely be able to reduce your tongue weight 30% or more and take some squat off the TRX.
We camp all over Colorado with our Grand Design Imagine and looking forward to see how the TRX does pulling it. Any favorite spots in Colorado you like to camp?
Sorry I see you had mentioned it was a Grand Design Imagine 2800BH.If you don’t mind me asking what size is your grand design and is it a toy hauler? I see this post was from a while ago do you care to share how the towing went this past summer?
It went well. I am taking it on a 10hr road trip on Wednesday through the weekend. I’ll report back in this here.Hi I’m looking at a similar set up. Did you End up going this route and if so, how did it work out for you?
Awesome I look forward to hearing how it goes! I have the Grand Design 25g which is a little bit bigger I believe and still waiting on my TRX to arriveIt went well. I am taking it on a 10hr road trip on Wednesday through the weekend. I’ll report back in this here.
Well the trip went well Until my riding buddy broke his wrist. But the gas mileage was awful. 8mpg averaged.Awesome I look forward to hearing how it goes! I have the Grand Design 25g which is a little bit bigger I believe and still waiting on my TRX to arrive
I pulled a Grand Design 24MPR on a 9hr, 600 mile trip and the TRX had no issues. I could even pass slow traffic easily. “BUT” the gas mileage was rough. I averaged 8-9 mpg. I highly recommend a very good load distribution hitch. This trucks suspension is soft and you will be blinding every on coming vehicle all night long and getting flashed so much you will go crazy. Plus the stability of the entire rig is so much safer. When my TRX arrives it will be pulling my Grand Design 261BH as well. It is 6K lbs so I don't see an issue. I already know gas mileage will suck but it does with any gas truck. Even my 2500 HD drops from around 20 to 12-15 mpg depending on the inclines and it is tuned and has DEF delete.
