Things I hate about my Laramie GT that hoping my TRX won’t have!

While I am waiting for my TRX I’m hoping it wont have the following:

1. Knocking noise on and off.

2. I guess what they call the Hemi tick

3. I don’t know the terminology but it seems it skips gear while coming to a stop. And sometimes while driving.

I toke it to dealer and had them check it out. They knew exactly what I’m talking about since it seems like they have a lot of complains that are the same about these trucks. They did a software update that they promised will fix or help with these issues.

The software update did help I feel. But the issues still there.

While I was waiting for my truck they gave me a Tacoma loaner. It made me appreciate the Ram a lot more after. Just my opinion.

I did some research online some people thinks it has to do with the type of gas and brand. But I tried every gas station there is and different has types except 87!

It’s basically a knocking noise. Like you have a 10gallon metal container with liquid in there. And then you hear a knocking noise out of it.

The TRX is a fairly loud truck all around. Would definitely recommend having reasonable expectations from an engine making 700hp. Otherwise the Pentastar is pretty quiet if that’s the main concern…

For 3: are you talking about the truck downshifting when coming to a stop? Or you mean skipping gears like going from 2-4 or 5-7?

When coming to a stop yes.

But after I toke it to the dealer and they reprogrammed and reflashed TCM I guess. And now coming to a stop doesn’t happens all the time. But now happens at different speeds. lol

Why do the downshifts bother you? I can’t even notice them, And by happening at different speeds… does it have anything to do with the throttle pedal Input

Since I got your attention. What do you think of this issue:

The brand new Laramie I bought came with tear drops under the hood (both sides) and paint spot on the hood. As you see from the pictures attached. And then the dealer tried to have me pick a shade that doesn’t match the car at all. What do you think of this?

Because it jumps!

I don’t feel the regular shifting ether your right. But the problem I’m talking about you’ll feel. It’s like when you have e-torque on and then your car moves from a stop. Similar type of jump!

Both my cars downshift when coming to a light. Only way I notice is if I hear the exhaust or see the tach needle move. Doesn’t sound normal what your describing

1. This doesn't sound normal. Mine doesn't do that.

2. Pretty common for the Hellcat to make a rattling noise, mostly before it gets warmed up.

3. I have not noticed any issues with my transmission. I can feel it downshift when slowing to a stop but it's not objectionable to me and feels normal.

You may prepare yourself for a drivetrain clunk just before you come to a complete stop and just when accelerating from a stop. Ram has a lube kit that they relube the splines but mine returned and I am told by dealer it is normal. Some have it, some don't. Some have some UConnect issues but I have not.

The big take away is there are no issues with my truck that have diminished my enjoyment of this beast. Awesome vehicle.

My 19 limited did the same thing while braking, it sometimes would lurch and it was very annoying. I guess its someting in the tranny and I guess when the TRX shows up it will do the same thing...i'll live with it
