They just wont publish Raptor R performance specs...

I think ford makes a great truck and i've had a number of F150's that I really liked. Where I think the Raptor R makes 0 sense is 1. 37's only option (will make it slower for those who want on road performance) 2. K02 tires are old technology and will not hook up like the newer tech off road tires made for high horsepower applications 3. No torsen up front (why?) 4. Price/production is just stupid.

Quite possible. I just find it a very interesting observation. After almost 20 years on car forums I haven’t seen anything else like it…albeit this is my first truck forum. Almost constant new multiple page threads about a competing product no one currently owns is the definition of bench racing and would have been bashed so hard on the LS forums, Audi forums, GTR forums, etc. To each their own…I just find obsessing over something I don’t own or want to own slightly strange. Would be different if I saw a single person on here saying “I want the numbers because I’m interested in buying one” but I haven’t seen a single person say that for a multitude of reasons from quality to performance to cost. I’m gonna go start bashing on my friends new gun now that I don’t plan to ever buy because mine shoots tighter groups 😂
Not bashing friend or foe, just bashing this release in the dark gloomy parking garage. They also sent guys to use buzz words, like less is more, and were definitely told not to say TRX. I find it funny. What are the performance specs, that is what this truck is about, not about a red R on the grille, a bed graphic and an inch higher plastic thing on the hood. If they want to call it a performance truck, confirm the specs.

And based on what that guy already posted with draggy numbers it will be a drivers race for 0-60 neck and neck with the TRX but already on 37s. It will beat a TRX on 37s with better clearance, approach angles, suspension travel, etc. And the weight distribution improvement over the TRX will mean it handles better off road. None of that really matters unless I’m going to buy one. I just don’t see the obsession with the “product release style” of a competitors product. It baffles me. To each their own on what occupies their thoughts and time spent. Guys on the raptor forums apparently obsess over talking themselves in circles how their trucks are better than the TRX so maybe it’s just a truck thing. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Maybe I'm reading this wrong but is that 73 miles to empty on a full tank? 😂 If so, that's awesome haha

Its tough to consider buying one if Ford doesn't release the official specs. I don’t believe any of these dudes on the internet and the dragging times. The best way to compare is to line them up and see who wins. I know one thing, it’s going to be a loud race.

I agree with you…it’s a truck thing for sure. Let’s compare the shit out of things and in the end not come up with a clear winner. Right…. to each their own and I will be sticking with the TRX.

It seemed like saying "TRX" in that garage was like saying "Trump" in a democratic convention 😆
The guy was clearly being very cautious with his questions and just wanted to ask what everyone has been wanting to know...
What a lame launch campaign BTW
:ROFLMAO:

Yes the 'Power Bulge' is 2.4cm higher, clearly defining performance over the regular Raptor.

Like those unsung Heroes that source the latest "Survivor" series set... and charter air drops of food/etc. to cause disarray, perhaps the gloomy garage was akin to a 'closed set' ... safe from a curious TRX driveby?

Going to be neck and neck. Can we go back to talking about our TRX’s now? Lol

Don't make me watch his video...please don't make me watch his video

I'll take a swing at the "product release style" portion of your post since I'm probably the most vocal about how Ford is doing it.

In all truth, I was looking forward to the Raptor R. I was excited for it, I was holding out on ordering a TRX till more details were available. And by all accounts, it'll be a killer truck, I'm happy it's being built.

What I see in Ford's release of it is that Ford doesn't seem excited for it themselves. It's not a good commentary for more cool stuff being built when the company that makes it doesn't seem to have wanted to make it in the first place. The Raptor R kicking the TRX's ass gives us the Redeye we all want, but that's not happening. It's like your sparring partner gives a half effort and calls it quits, and it kinda sucks to see it in their eyes.

Probably because all of these types of trucks (and cars) are going the way of the dinosaurs (pun intended). I wouldn’t expect them to be hyping it more than their EVs since that is where the vast bulk of R&D $ are going …just like dodge putting a lot more effort into their future EV concepts than their hurricane engine replacing the hellcat (in theory).

My point being in all this, and as others have confirmed, I have only seen this type of comparison bench racing on the truck forums. It’s weird to me and I called it out which likely has no value to be fair. It’s an observation I could have kept to myself. And for the probably dozen threads on here about the Raptor R and how the TRX is so much faster on pavement (just bc Ford isnt putting out performance numbers) it’s gonna be awkward when they finally line up and are side by side but with the Raptor better in every other performance category related to actually doing truck things. Then I’m sure the conversation will shift to “well I like the TRX interior more or the Raptor R costs too much” as the self verification why the TRX is better.

Honestly just reminds me of when someone sees their neighbor get a pool that they don’t want to spend the money on (but deep down want a pool) and then sit there justifying to themselves that a pool is dumb because of maintenance, etc.

Comparison is the thief of joy. Love what you drive and the rest is noise.

Man I cant believe how many TRX owners are a bunch of cry babies. The truth is that the Raptor R will be faster stock vs stock and mod vs mod than the TRX and Id be willing to bet money with anyone who thinks otherwise and that’s on 37s. I traded my gen3 Raptor in on the TRX and love the level 2 TRX BUT cant wait to get my Raptor R. Why are you guys bunch of cry babies who make excuses all the time. There is always something better/faster. I saw someone say that the TRX is better built than a gen 3Raptor, I can tell you that is false as well. I love the TRX for the sound and power and the interior design, even tho it feels cheaper than the Raptors. Everything else goes to the Raptor and now with the R the TRX wont have anything on it. It’s time for RAM to go Redeye or just stfu.

I would have been in a Raptor R....but once they release the price and basically said chances are slim you will get one. w/o serious mark up... I was priced out. No idea how I even came into looking at a TRX. I think it was because Granger was also offering deals on the Ford Forum...and then I glanced at a post for a discount on a TRX...hmmm... then the fact that all the companies are becoming metrosexuals and going away from their Muscles cars and big V8 vehicles....I started my research on the TRX...

Btw, This forum was a bad influence. before I knew it, I was on the phone ordering a 2023 with Mark Dodge.

Nobody is crying you ass. The R seems like a cool truck the approach to release it is what made us all say sucked.

Look at you all happy to get off the V6 dildo now.

Have you not seen some of the stupid comments in this thread? Also Facebook is full of crybabies. It is what it is.

Nah man, you good. I know these trucks are on the way out, that's part of the reason I'm getting the TRX. Just hoped there would be a little more spark in the Ford's eye on the way out. Makes it a little more fun to dance on the deck of the Titanic when your dance partner is still putting in the effort

Sorry but nothing feels cheaper inside than a Ford. And that annoying jingle every time you open the door is icing on the cheap a@@ cake. And frankly the Raptor R is a joke. They did almost nothing to compensate for the 250hp increase other than a 5% stiffer front spring rate, a slightly beefier front axle (albiet removing the front Torsen limited slip) and some inconsequential part inside the transfer case...whoop-di-do.

If Ram said here's a TRX, it's the same thing as a Rebel except it's got 702hp and about $600 worth of "strengthened" parts we'd all be broken down by now...
