These Make Me So Happy I Ordered Black!!

Wow, I wrapped the panel where the license plate is on my Civic Type-R in a dry weave carbon fiber look vinyl and that took me a couple of hours. I cannot imagine wrapping my whole truck. Good work, it looks amazing. I would love to have the self healing properties of the vinyl wrap and all that. Maybe this is something that I will have done once I start to get bored of the hydro blue on mine.

Soooooo sexy!!!!

I also ordered black, but just for the purpose of having a "blank slate" for wrapping it. I started wrapping vehicles just to see if I could pull it off. I had a 2015 Ram 1500 that I wrapped in matte military green. I had put a Magna supercharger in to make a "poor man's" TRX right after the concept came out back in 2016. Only had about 500hp after the boost, but it was a TON of fun to drive, especially when a little rice burner pulled up at a light and wanted to try to be fast, and learned quickly that a charged V8 will always eat a NA 4 cylinder!
Then I decided to wrap my Polaris RZR to match, which was actually more of a pain in the a$$ than wrapping the entire truck.

In April of this year, I had hear rumors the TRX was going to be delayed until 2022 model year, so I ran out of patience and bought a 2019 Ram 2500 and wrapped that when it only had 67 miles on it.

I like the way the vinyl will protect the paint, so when it comes time to get rid of the vehicle, no matter how much brush you've driven through, tree branches have scraped your truck, etc., the paint underneath still looks brand new. With the Green truck, when the vinyl was newer (like up to a year and a halfish), it was really cool, because if I got scrapes from driving through brush or trees, all I had to do was leave it outside in the sun for a couple days and they would just fill themselves in. Hard to explain, but the heat of the sun basically made them disappear. Really weird. However, once it was like 3 years old, they didn't completely dissolve anymore. They'd be less noticeable, but not completely gone like when I first wrapped it.

Now with the TRX, I ordered it black and I'm going to go with 3M's Matte Dark Grey. I'll post some pics when I get it done.

Here are some pics of the other trucks:

On the tailgate I did a distressed flag underlay that turned out pretty cool. Pics aren't the greatest, but looks cool in person.

im thinking or wrapping mine in matte black 3M...can you post any pics of a truck or car wrapped in matte GREY ? and matte Black? wondering what thye both look like

I have questioned my color decision too. Especially after seeing the Hydro Blue from a post yesterday and now this one. I was back and forth on white or billet when I ordered.
I ordered Billet.

Nah, you will be happy with the Billet. Understated and hides flaws in paint. I can't unsee the scratches and swirls in the 4th pic in the original post!

It is because of the horror of paint swirls and tiny flaws that are oh so visible in black paint that i will not have black vehicles anymore. I love the look of them, but I either have to clean it constantly and keep it covered when not in use or just let it look like a mobile sandbox.

This is the color I'll be doing on my TRX:

Here's a matte black truck pic just for comparison. Keep in mind the matte black will show EVERYTHING!!! It's a lot worse than gloss black is.

I still feel there is no color that looks better than black on a vehicle when it is perfectly clean. However, you only get that look for about 15 minutes after washing and drying.

great thanks! i didnt know that matte black shows everything? how is it different from the matte grey ?

I‘ve had plenty of silver cars & currently have 2 black cars, a red car & a white truck & unless you‘re oblivious, when they‘re dirty they all look dirty because they are (& if they were scratched (not) they’d look scratched & I‘d know it) but when they‘re clean nothing looks as good as black because it’s black! ? ? ?

That picture is the best I’ve seen. I ordered white but will say black looks amazing.

Yeah, love that pic, it’s my fav. of TRX pics. White is awesome, the storm trooper..

There‘s not a bad TRX paint color in 2021 IMO, they all look great.

I am amazed at the quality of the black paint. The deepness, reflectivness and mirror like finish.

On the bed TRX graphic, what color is the graphic, does it match the bumpers, fender molding and other emblems?

All the pics I see looks like matte. I am counting on it as I order an aftermarket version. The truck I picked up in process did not have it.

As for the person who said scratches and swirl marks... Paint correct when you get it (will be very minimal) then ceramic coat and proper maintenance. I traded a black Ram a while back, dealer said it was the best black trade they ever had.

For me the black trucks look better with the standard wheels.

Amen to that

I ordered Billet.
My wife thinks I’m crazy because I ordered a 22 in may in Flame Red then changed it to black because it’s monotone and gorgeous. I’m still all over the place on so I want to switch back to red or swap to Billet 😂! There was a billet truck at the dealer the other day and if it was optioned the way I ordered mine I would have swapped right then and there. These trucks are just awesome in person…they aren’t that much bigger than my gen2 raptor but they seem bigger in person. Hard to explain. Black, Red, and Billet all look amazing!!!

I don't understand the black decals on a black truck. I would thing RAM could have done a better job offsetting that. They can use a silver shadow or something
I agree. I didn’t order the graphics so I can get reflective ones installed after the fact for a fraction of the price. Underground Graphics has some cool options.
