Ok, unless mine is broken or the use case is not clear, it doesn't let you close the shade past the first sunroof window. It automatically closes the tilted window if you push the close shade button.
This was actually a big deal for me and as I was talking through this point with my dealer he was really surprised that you couldn't vent and still close the shade so he called a recent TRX customer who was a friend and had him check. After a few minutes on the phone, on a Saturday, the customer confirmed you can in fact vent and close the shade. I kept asking "Are you sure?" and he went to his truck and verified it. Long story short I added it. lol. I've had them installed after the fact and in every vehicle except my Redeye. Never an issue.
Kinda seems like a fail safe, so if you forget to close the tilt, the rain won’t pour in.... what are you trying to accomplish by doing it your way?Ok, you will either be disappointed, or tell me how to not be. I'm going to put a vinyl over it
Nope it doesn't let you do what you want.....This was actually a big deal for me and as I was talking through this point with my dealer he was really surprised that you couldn't vent and still close the shade so he called a recent TRX customer who was a friend and had him check. We don't get much rain in CO. When we do I've had very few issues leaving tilt open. Even snow. Trying to leave tilt open and not get roasted in my truck. I'd rather drive with it closed if getting blasted with sun.Kinda seems like a fail safe, so if you forget to close the tilt, the rain won’t pour in.... what are you trying to accomplish by doing it your way?
When I flip it, I would rather not have the glass between my head and the road.I just ordered but have time to change it. Anyone have input on sunroofs? Do they effect structural integrity or are there no supports in that section of roof any way? Concerned about flex offroad and to a lesser degree wind noise.
Ok I get that completely. I was just curious. Sorry it’s not working for you. CheersWe don't get much rain in CO. When we do I've had very few issues leaving tilt open. Even snow. Trying to leave tilt open and not get roasted in my truck. I'd rather drive with it closed if getting blasted with sun.
This is coming from a perspective of 8 years of having Rams that had the normal sunroof, and tilt was open 90% of the time, but sun shade was 90% closed.
I'll just tint/vinyl it and move on.
Thanks Jester and MAXgroup. I knew there was a chance I was getting bad iNFO but decided to go for it anyway. In the end I still think I'll be happy with it and who knows maybe eventually there will be a method to bypass it like with Alpha OBD or the other widget. Thanks again for verifying and posting the vid.Ok, you will either be disappointed, or tell me how to not be. I'm going to put a vinyl over it
why would you want to have the tilt open if the shade is closed? might forget about it and flood the truck in a rainstormOk, unless mine is broken or the use case is not clear, it doesn't let you close the shade past the first sunroof window. I've answered this like 5 times on numerous threads. This one included.why would you want to have the tilt open if the shade is closed? might forget about it and flood the truck in a rainstorm
It just seems like the cut out is so big that maybe a beam is left out in there, but I wouldn't think they would do that.Sunroofs make a good escape hatch and gun turret. The sheetmetal cut out isnt what supplies structural integrity to the roof.
many leaking problems into the cab are from not keeping the drain tubes clear of debris, mold and mildew.
I’m able to close it at any point.Ok, unless mine is broken or the use case is not clear, it doesn't let you close the shade past the first sunroof window. It automatically closes the tilted window if you push the close shade button.
I had a limited also with the sunroof. I have to say here in Florida it’s way too hot to have it open or even the shade open. Prob used it the same amount. Although it is nice at night sometimes .I had the sunroof on my 2019 limited and chose not to get it on my TRX the reasons I didn't want it on my TRX:
1. There was a fair amount of wind noise from the sunroof on my limited and wind noise in general was my only complaint on the limited
2. The decreased payload of the TRX due to the soft suspension was on my mind and the sunroof reduces the payload by almost 250 pounds
3. I plan on keeping the TRX forever (I'll probably buy another daily after a while but as long as it can be fixed and driven I will keep the TRX) and sunroofs as they age almost universally leak, some leak sooner than others but eventually they all leak.
4. I drove my Limited for 2 and a half years every day and opened the sunroof less than 5 total times, but that is a personal preference and I just never saw the point as very little to no air actually comes in and the sun beating down on my shaved head would get very hot very quickly making me want to close it and the shade.
5. Everything else considered I agreed to pay MSRP for the TRX and $1,500 extra for the sunroof I thought could be better spent on accessories I would actually get use out of, my limited was on the lot and I picked it up for $13k under MSRP if I had built it I probably would have excluded the sunroof as well
With tilt still open?I’m able to close it at any point.
