I just ordered but have time to change it. Anyone have input on sunroofs? Do they effect structural integrity or are there no supports in that section of roof any way? Concerned about flex offroad and to a lesser degree wind noise.

I haven't saw any issues with them breaking and what not on the 5th gen forms.

That being said I am sure they ran all of the hard durability testing and such with one equipped to make sure that wouldn't be an issue...

I had the sunroof on my 2019 limited and chose not to get it on my TRX the reasons I didn't want it on my TRX:

1. There was a fair amount of wind noise from the sunroof on my limited and wind noise in general was my only complaint on the limited
2. The decreased payload of the TRX due to the soft suspension was on my mind and the sunroof reduces the payload by almost 250 pounds
3. I plan on keeping the TRX forever (I'll probably buy another daily after a while but as long as it can be fixed and driven I will keep the TRX) and sunroofs as they age almost universally leak, some leak sooner than others but eventually they all leak.
4. I drove my Limited for 2 and a half years every day and opened the sunroof less than 5 total times, but that is a personal preference and I just never saw the point as very little to no air actually comes in and the sun beating down on my shaved head would get very hot very quickly making me want to close it and the shade.
5. Everything else considered I agreed to pay MSRP for the TRX and $1,500 extra for the sunroof I thought could be better spent on accessories I would actually get use out of, my limited was on the lot and I picked it up for $13k under MSRP if I had built it I probably would have excluded the sunroof as well

Structurally sound and strong like the steel!! Love the view looking up and the screen is really cool!! Plus a place to...

Thanks for your input. I think I am going to skip it. Never had 1 but thought the open view even while only shade open might be nice but I don't think it's worth the potential problems.

Ordered mine without the sunroof. Just don't like the sun on my head and in my Grand Cherokee SRT the cover is always closed. Why pay for something you'll never use.

The panoramic roof can also be prone to leaks as well down the road. I know the Ford trucks are known for that issue, not sure if it is a big issue with 5th gen Rams. I don't plan on getting that option due to it cutting down the already limited payload of the TRX.

I'm not a fan of sun roofs and it always irritated me that when I purchased a vehicle from the lot that they all seemed to have them for an additional $2k+. I live in AZ and in SoCal before and rarely, if ever, would even slide the panel back so the sun can bake my bald head. Plus they all seem to make a buffeting noise when open.
I never had any leaks through them and like with my current RAM2500 it stays closed and I even forget that it's there.

Living in rainy Seattle I tend to avoid sunroofs as they seem to always leak eventually.

Since I took over an existing order mine came with the sunroof. I'll test it out while washing the truck and MacGyver seal it if need be.

I have had sunroofs in previous vehicles but simply havent used them. I have had issues with the seal around the sunroof making slight creaking noises when driving over bumps - our TRX sun roof would be HUGE and didnt want to deal with the same.

Didn't order mine with a sunroof either. just didn't want to worry about leaks whatsoever. no sunroof no worry.

I ordered one. I like the open feel of it and the kids love it. Needs some tint though. I was hearing about all this leaking and then remembered we get sun 300 days a year and the rest is snow, which tends to blow off the top before melting. If I was back in Portland, I might skip it.

I ordered it and love having it. It really opens up the cabin letting that additional light in.
I agree 100% Had the transparent panels on my C7 and loved them. I wear a hat quite a bit so don't mind the sun. Love the monster roof in the truck. The weight reduction in payload wasn't an issue since I kept my duramax....I've been 29,000lbs off the scales with my dump trailer and 8+ ton crusher run for my pos driveway!

I personally dislike sunroofs and will delete them every time I can. I never use them, prefer a closed roof, they add weight up high and can leak. Plus in a rollover I’d prefer my face impacting a headliner instead of broken glass

I wouldn't have ordered it if I had to do over again. I liked the smaller version on my 16, this one is too big and can't tilt the window up and have the sunshade close past the tilted window. Going to do some form of vinyl, tint

This was actually a big deal for me and as I was talking through this point with my dealer he was really surprised that you couldn't vent and still close the shade so he called a recent TRX customer who was a friend and had him check. After a few minutes on the phone, on a Saturday, the customer confirmed you can in fact vent and close the shade. I kept asking "Are you sure?" and he went to his truck and verified it. Long story short I added it. lol. I've had them installed after the fact and in every vehicle except my Redeye. Never an issue.
