Squeal/Squeak Sound Issue, all the time.

I shoot quite a bit but only started that about 10 years ago. My hearing has been bad longer than that. I used to have to get it tested annually for work. Not really sure why it is so bad. I can hear most tones about average but can’t hear the higher pitch tones
Sounds like what I have except if there’s a lot of background noise I can’t here shit if somebody’s talkin to me

Just an FYI on two things I’ve learned so far about the TRX and the squeak. I was under the truck for a while the last two days. The squeak is coming from the passenger side cat converter in my truck. I also noticed that the anti drain back valve in the factory MO-899 filter completely sucks. At a cold startup there was an obvious tapping coming from the engine after a fresh oil change that lasted for about 30 secs. I attributed it to the oil change, so I started it up cold again today and the same tapping noise. I went back under and swapped out the filter for the SRT MO-041 and on cold start the metallic tapping disappeared. Either I had a crappy / defective factory style filter or the 899 just sucks compared to the 041.
Interesting, I didn't know about the SRT filter, so I did some hunting on the internet and found this threat with a Q & A from the SRT engineers .... https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/use-mopar-srt-oil-filter-for-5-7l-hemi.337705/ Thks for mentioning the SRT filter...

The MO-899 filter is unremarkable at best. Especially considering the application. And the price. It’s definitely the worst $8 filter I’ve ever seen. The SRT filter is made by Wix and seems to be better built all around. I used it with the Pennzoil 0w40 for the first oil change a couple weeks ago.

Now, I can’t attribute this to that oil change, but my truck has quieted down substantially over the last week. It used to squeak or chirp constantly and very loudly, hot or cold. Wouldn’t matter if I ran 50 miles on a 90 degree day, it would still squeak at idle. Definitely sounded like it was emanating from the cats or manifolds.

Now it’s down to just squeaking a little on cold startup, and almost an imperceptible amount at hot idle. I do not know why it’s basically fixed itself but I’m way happier with it now. It was kind of embarrassing how bad it sounded before.

Sounds normal now. Make mine like this!

I have the same noise, and I'm dealing with the dealer and the local rep. Dealer and the representative sent me the same generic response that many received regarding the Hemi ticking, which this is NOT. Their response mentions the noise is because of ground clearance blah blah. My truck has over 6,000 miles, and it has done since I drove it off the lot with 8 miles. Hot, cold, doesn't matter, and it gets louder while in Drive. This is unacceptable, and I have even sent my video and my buddy's TRX video, which does not make anywhere near the noise mine makes. I've also listened to about 10 TRX, and not all have the noise at all.

This is a video I shared about the noise when I first got mine. TRX had about 500 miles. Keep in mind it gets even louder in drive HOT or COLD. Not the HEMI tick.

My buddies TRX (sorry had a cold)

This was the response the service manager sent me from the rep which they send to everyone complaining about this horrible noise

Your buddies TRX was that from a cold start or had his been warmed up and idling for a bit?

That was warm. He had been driving around for lunch so this around mid-day. When he is in drive its even quieter than at idle in park. Whereas mine gets even louder in drive.

That’s what I figured. Mine is exactly like your buddies TRX. It does it mildly on cold start and barely there on a warm start and goes away completely.

Yep I've heard about 10 TRXs and its about 50% do it, 50% don't. Mine has done it since new cold or warm. I need to get a video of it in Drive because its so much louder. The service GM took a video of it in Drive and sent it to the area rep because he too was shocked at how much louder it is. The area rep still said it was normal. To me, normal means all the trucks do it, not just some.

Here is a squeak on a Camaro for reference. Fast forward to the 2 minute mark.
I don't know that I would compare a modified Camaro SS with an aftermarket blower, exhaust, probably headers, etc. to the noise a stock OEM truck is making. My buddy has a ZL1 and before he modded it didn't make that kind of noise. I have turbo, supercharged cars, etc. none made that noise. My Viper which was heavily modified with an aftermarket blower and built engine didn't make any noise at all unless you got on it.

I’d love to see a few trucks its bad on and a few it’s not in front of the people who say it’s normal at the same time. How is differing levels ‘normal’

My buddy and I offered the dealer and area rep that very same thing. We could bring both trucks but they never took me up on it. Instead they asked for video which I shared above but they said it’s normal lol.

In other words…”yeah, we’ll pass on having to endure the awkward conversation which will open a can of worms that we’re unwilling to clean up.”

I have read this thread and it’s definitely disheartening!
I listened to my buddies TRX at school pick up. Squealed on hot start up and mellowed out, then he put it in drive and it came back. I am expecting my 21 TRX next week, I’m not sure I can take it… it might be a deal breaker! Thoughts?

Personal decision… you’ll have to decide.

I was still happy with mine when it squealed. But I am also very happy that it stopped doing it all the effing time. It was pretty annoying.
