Replaced Dash due to bubble issue and Ram has changed the leather on it.

another option for protecting it would be to get a ceramic film on the windshield (at the very least). that'll also keep the truck significantly cooler. my last quote for a windhsield film was about $275-$325 for the work, well worth it for protecting the dash and keeping the truck cool. plus then you don't have to deal with a windshield screen every time you get in and out of the truck.

It appears I failed to notice this bubble when I bought the truck. Has 9k miles but it's a 2021 so out of warranty. Gonna reach out to ram cares, what's the username on here again?

70% STEK ceramic all around the glass here. Blocks 99% UV, I couple that with a UVS100 sunscreen, but summers here are semi short. 2023 no issues.

That truly sucks! Hope you get them to cover this. It is not cheap, and they have to replace the full dash.

I highly recommend everyone to keep an eye on this and check the view from the passenger side. Better to find it early while under warranty then get stuck having to pay for it. In the initial stages it is hard to see. Mine you could only see it from the passenger side.

I'll have to swing by the dealership and see. From reading online it seems it's about $3500 out of pocket!

That being said, the dash itself is under $600. I'm guessing the labor is the reason for the price.

Another thing I've thought of is having an upholstery shop replace the leather, but might be just as expensive.

Just had the dash changed on my truck , it's a 21 with 60 k miles so no warranty but ram has a "copay" so I had to pay $500 and got an all new dash, and its the same material as the old one( i thought it was going to be different after reading this thread), also they showed me another trx that was in the process of getting it changed and WOW, they take EVERYTHING OFF, the side handles , steering wheel on the floor, center console off, literally everything to change the dash, radio , everyhing it was crazy the amount of work to change it .

I mentioned it elsewhere, but the texture of my recently replaced dash matches my door cards. Perhaps they ordered the wrong dash for OP or they've shifted production back to the matching leather/pleather.

A heads up for others. Issue seems to be growing on 2022 and earlier versions. Due to heat your dash leather may start to bubble or warp. The leather starts to separate from the dash. Not sure if is faulty glue used or what but the solution is they replace the full dash with a new one. HOWEVER... seems like they may have changed the dash leather in 2023+ due to this problem and IMO went cheap. The new version is not as natural and nice looking as the previous one. I am posting some pictures below of before and after. While the version I had was more of a natural smooth leather look. The new one looks more synthetic and rubber looking. Looks more like the plastic panels on the door bottom. Hope I don't have any engine issues, they may replace with a 6 cylinder. Just wondering if any others have had this issue and for those that come across this post to be aware. I think I would have preferred finding another solution.
Just got home from the dealer with the same issue….hoping they replace this dash correctly and there are no issues or rattles🥲

So I went to see a 2024 at a different dealer and it does have the new material. They told me this change was made during 2023.

I also got some more details in case anyone is interested. The original instrument panel part is 6WR942X7AA and 6WR942X7AB for my model. After that it was revised to the new material part 7TH161D3AA. It looks like this part had been revised like 5 times due to the issues. Not sure if you can buy the older part but sharing what I got.
Had my dash replaced a couple weeks ago, it was replaced with the same PN 7TH161D3AA.

I just noticed my 21' with this issue. I'm out of warranty, any luck with @RamCares helping out?

@RamCares isn't going to do much to help. Hopefully you have a good dealership that will help you out. My dealership put in for goodwill and they covered majority of the repair and it came with a 2 year warranty.

Currently trying to get my dealership to interact with @RamCares but there’s a disconnect. Dealership says they can’t get a straight answer from ramcares. When I message ramcares they say the dealership has to contact them.

I find that pretty ridiculous. @RamCares is on the forum and wants everyone to message them for support, but who has actually received support from them? I get the people posting are CS employees, but there has to be better communication and some actual benefit from them.

that replacement textured dash looks like a rubber piece of shit, I'd keep a bubbled dash over that.
